00:00You know, any time I have the opportunity to get into a pristine system, it's a real
00:05treat.
00:06And, you know, here in Utah, it really is a pristine system.
00:10But this doesn't just happen on its own.
00:12It comes as a result of conservation, built on a great foundation of science.
00:16And if they keep doing what they're doing, this kind of landscape, these healthy systems,
00:21and this biodiversity is going to be here for a very long time.
00:23And I'll tell you what, these hills are kicking my butt.
00:30So it looks like there's something up in the tree here.
00:42We could hear the dogs getting louder and louder and louder as we come down.
00:45Let's see if it's the bear that we want.
00:49We can't see what's up in this tree yet.
00:57It's a huge tree.
01:00We're hoping there's a bear up there.
01:07I am right now looking up at two little black bear cubs.
01:12Unfortunately, they're a bit too small for us to actually catch and collar, but an amazing
01:17experience nonetheless.
01:18They were probably born in January or February in their mother's den while she was hibernating.
01:22When they come out in the springtime, you can see just how green these mountains are
01:26at this time of the year.
01:27Prolific food, perfect time for babies to start growing.
01:32What an amazing experience.
01:35Look at these little guys just looking down at us.
01:37There's one way high up and then this little guy about halfway up the tree.
01:42And they're just so cute.
01:43So hopefully we find the mother.
01:44We wanted to collar a sow, but these guys are just so cool.
01:49This time of year, very often, they'll just be eating grass and stuff like that.
01:52So they'll move pretty far.
01:55And she's obviously heard the hounds put the cubs in a tree here and carried on up
01:59the mountain.
