The world's first openly gay Imam Muhsin Hendricks has been killed in an ambush in South Africa's Gqebrha city. CCTV footage shows the assailant blocking Hendricks' car, stepping out and opening fire at him. Muhsin Hendricks was killed after he reportedly officiated at a lesbian wedding. The police are investigating the matter. Many activists fear the incident was a hate crime. Hendricks' murder has sent shockwaves throughout the LGBTQ+ community across the world. South Africa's Constitution was the first in the world to protect people from discrimination because of their sexual orientation.
