00:18And all I can say is baby steps gets you to where you would want to be and something that helps you spiritually
00:24Emotionally mentally is something which is good for you
00:27So, please try to get yoga as a part of your day, even if it's 5 minutes 10 minutes 20 minutes start somewhere

00:36So we're here for International Yoga Day, which is my favorite celebration of the year. I'm a new yogi
00:42I'm a four-year-old yogi, but I take it very very seriously and
00:47My heart my soul is in the yoga and what better way to celebrate it than with Gulf News
00:51So she is a very advanced level yogini and she has been an influence as to why I wanted to get into yoga
00:58So I'm an amateur
00:59I would say that but it's something that I really enjoy doing because I have been very influenced by the teachings of Buddhism
01:06So this seems like an extended version of that because Buddhism also involves chanting and breathing and yoga's biggest
01:13I mean apart from the health and the weight and etc. Whatever helps you with physically
01:18Emotionally mentally it gives you so much more peace and calm than any other workout form
01:23So for me, that is something which has been very attractive about yoga
01:26So I'm super excited that we are here. So I go to this place called Diva Yoga, which has taught me everything about yoga
01:33So my trainer and I would still train and we have a group of girls that we work out together
01:37So we did that we continue our practice on zoom. So every morning 10 a.m
01:42Four of us girls with our trainer were on zoom doing yoga because I said there's no way I'm skipping that pandemic on open
01:48I'm in fact because of the pandemic I needed to do it all the more and she and mom would give me fun out of me
01:53Because like randomly at 6 p.m. We're just hanging out. I said guys. I feel like doing it
01:57No inversion
01:59You just love doing a headstand. I just think guys make me a headstand. Just just just I'm like
02:06We would just stand and she's like guys I feel like I need to do an inversion
02:10I mean most and it should just go into a headstand and I'm like, why are you doing that?
02:15So for me personally, I've always been a major major foodie. I
02:19Really enjoy trying different cuisines wherever I travel. I try to find the most local food
02:23I used to eat meat which has stopped now. So, um again my again her influence
02:29She used to tell me your stomach is a graveyard. Your stomach is a graveyard, but you know somewhere like
02:35Apart from that like once we adopted our dog. Also, I got a little
02:39Something just changed and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I cannot eat meat
02:42So it's been a year and a half. I've not touched anything maybe over a year and a half now
02:46Hey, so for me food has been very very important
02:48But healthy eating also because I've always suffered from weight issues since I was a baby
02:54I don't know if it's hereditary or what it was or is but I cannot not
03:00If I just eat normally also for like a week 10 days, I'll just gain a lot of weight. Let's have PCOD
03:06So that's a yoga was something that was really helpful because it helps even control your PCOD, you know
03:11It helps with a lot of issues that women face
03:13Yeah, and more than so that's why like more than a workout because I would rather do my weight training
03:18Also, I enjoy it because of these reasons like it controls your insides keep makes you feel good healthier
03:26And yeah, so food can't stop won't stop. So gotta do more stuff to control
03:30I have the opposite actually I eat to live. I don't I'm not a foodie
03:35I'm not a junkie like for me khichdi, daal, sabzi
03:38I'm happy like these guys want to kill me even when we travel on the third fourth day
03:42I can be in Japan or America or Europe. I need
03:46daal jao like that's me by the third or fourth day. I'm very basic. I just eat to live
03:52But I've always been a health freak. I'm a crazy health junkie, but I don't go on fads and like diets and stuff
03:57I always want to eat home food and
04:00Satisfy myself and
04:02You know, I get a little upset with people when they say that. Oh, it's you know, yoga is being bastardized is being too westernized
04:07I I understand what you're saying
04:09But even I've even gone to those LA classes in yoga, which they say is like not authentic at all
04:13It still gives you something you still leave the class feeling something and that's what's important. So I feel yoga just
04:20Also for women a lot of women can't do weights
04:22A lot of men can't do sports like yoga something you can do with yourself. Like it's it's so internalized
04:27It's and it just I think it's one of the red
04:30Workout forms or whatever that you see after one hour you're rejuvenated and you're you know re-energized
04:35So I think that's gaining momentum people are realizing that and because there are more forms like, you know, you're basic
04:41Yeah, exactly. Exactly. There's so many cooler ways. Like now I do aerial yoga. I do yoga with like bamboo stakes
04:47I do they're just it's obviously all being reinvented and stuff like that
04:51So it's hazard like everyone the taste for everyone coming to your point about people can't do it
04:57I was one of them because I'm a very restless person. My mind is never calm
05:00So for me, I felt like that time so I become way more calm now in the last couple of years
05:06But earlier I was just always restless like I couldn't sit in a position for two minutes and just breathe
05:12But you know now I started realizing the importance of being with yourself
05:17Giving just no thoughts just like trying to just control your mind as much as possible because the world is just moving so fast
05:24Everyone is constantly stressed and worked up and you know, it's just becoming very negative sometimes
05:30So I feel many of many people are gonna move into where I was to where I am
05:36Where it was like, oh my god, I need to get done with this because the workout is like, yeah
05:39Yeah, I'm done 45 minutes. There's a lot of good music. Yeah, there's always stimulants. You don't have a stimulant
05:44You're just by yourself in your mind
05:46So I feel like a lot of people are going to reach that point where they grow up and they understand that
05:51Being by myself is a good thing and that's when I think they start adopting yoga more willingly and more
05:58You know, okay, not as occasionally as they're doing it right now
