00:00Good afternoon from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
00:03This is our update on the weather forecast for the next 24 hours.
00:08We can see here in our latest satellite images,
00:12the clouds that are affecting the eastern part of the Luzon
00:17are the continuous effect of the easterlies,
00:19or the hot winds from the Pacific Ocean.
00:22At the moment, the clouds and rain are falling
00:25on the provinces of Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora,
00:29and also in the area of Quezon.
00:31Meanwhile, on the axis of the shoreline,
00:33we can see the line of clouds
00:35extending over the extreme northern Luzon
00:38is the continuous effect of this weather system.
00:42So, on the provinces and the islands,
00:44we can also experience clouds and rain,
00:48falling and lightning.
00:50The effect of the Intertropical Convergence Zone continues.
00:54This is the flow of air from the northern and southern hemispheres
00:57to a large part of Mindanao.
00:59This afternoon, the thick clouds associated with the ITCZ
01:04are affecting the southern portion of Mindanao,
01:08particularly the area of Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula,
01:11as well as the Barm and the provinces of Sultan Kudarat,
01:16Sarangani, and Lanao del Norte.
01:19In Metro Manila and other parts of our country,
01:22we will experience clear skies tomorrow.
01:25But this afternoon and later tonight,
01:27there are still chances of sudden and rapid rainfall
01:31caused by localized thunderstorms.
01:33We can see here in our satellite images
01:36that this low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
01:40west of Palawan,
01:42is far from our country.
01:44We are not concerned about it.
01:46It has no effect on us.
01:47We expect that it will be resolved within the next 24 hours.
01:52And for our weather forecast for tomorrow here in Luzon,
01:58the area of Batanes and Buen Islands
02:01will experience heavy rainfall,
02:04thunderstorms, and lightning.
02:05This is still brought by the Sherry Line.
02:07The Easter Leaves, or the hot winds from the Pacific Ocean,
02:11will continue to cause high chances of rain
02:15in the northern part of Luzon.
02:17Again, for the provinces of Cagayan,
02:19mainly Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon.
02:23For Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon,
02:25our prevailing weather system is Easter Leaves.
02:27So let's hope that this hot and stormy weather
02:30from the morning to the afternoon
02:32will still bring us some rain
02:34because there are still chances of thunderstorms
02:37late afternoon to evening.
02:40For the areas of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
02:45the effects of the ITCZ over Mindanao will gradually decrease tomorrow.
02:49We expect that the weather system
02:52that will affect the aforementioned areas will also be Easter Leaves.
02:54And because of the decrease in the effects of the ITCZ over Mindanao,
02:59we expect improving weather conditions
03:02over the southern Mindanao area.
03:03So it's clear in the time that we will experience
03:06over Zamboanga Peninsula, Barms, Oxargen, and Davao region.
03:10The hot and stormy weather in Palawan and Visayas will continue,
03:14but for now, in all of these forecast areas,
03:17Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
03:19even if our prevailing weather system is Easter Leaves,
03:22because the weather is hot,
03:24it's still possible for thunderstorm clouds to form in the afternoon.
03:28It's possible for strong winds to blow,
03:30but it's still possible for it to rain
03:32from the afternoon to the evening.
03:34So let's still bring some protection from the rain.
03:38In terms of our ocean,
03:40there is currently no high-level gale warning
03:42in any of our coastal areas
03:45up to the correct waves
03:47is what we expect in a large part of our country.
03:50Even now,
03:51we still have to be careful with our fishermen
03:55because if we have offshore thunderstorm activity,
03:58like rain in our coastal areas,
04:00we expect strong winds
04:03which will affect the upper part of our waves.
04:07And for our 3D weather outlook in our neighboring countries,
04:12on Monday, February 17,
04:14this part of Maulap will continue
04:16up to Maulap and Papawirin.
04:18Over most of Luzon,
04:19it will only be accompanied by isolated rain showers
04:22or localized thunderstorms.
04:24On Tuesday,
04:25we expect a change in the northeast monsoon,
04:28or Hanging Amihan.
04:30We expect this to affect a large part of northern Luzon,
04:34that includes Baguio City.
04:36We expect that the chance of thunderstorm activity
04:39will decrease over this area.
04:41It is still possible that on Tuesday,
04:45there will be light rain showers over northern Luzon
04:48and the chance of thunderstorms will continue
04:51in the rest of the Luzon area.
04:53By Wednesday,
04:55the chance of rain showers and hailing
04:57will be high.
04:58This is what we expect in a large part of northern Luzon,
05:01that includes Cagayan Valley and Cordillera,
05:04where Baguio City is located.
05:07Here in the Visayas area,
05:10for these three days,
05:11Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday,
05:13a large part of the Visayas,
05:15particularly Metro Cebu, Iloilo City, and Tacloban City,
05:18will experience hot and humid weather.
05:22Generally, it will be fair weather,
05:24but there are still chances of thunderstorms
05:26in the afternoon and evening.
05:28Due to the effect of Easterly on Wednesday,
05:31this part of the eastern Visayas,
05:33particularly here in Tacloban City,
05:35will experience a high chance
05:38of rain showers, hailing, and hailing.
05:42In the part of Mindanao,
05:44in the areas of Metro Davao,
05:46Cagayan de Oro City, and Zamboanga City,
05:48this is also what we expect.
05:50Monday and Tuesday,
05:51the weather will continue to be clear.
05:53Starting tomorrow,
05:54the effect of ITCZ will decrease.
05:56Easterly, or the wind coming from the Pacific Ocean,
06:00will be our prevailing weather condition.
06:03So, we expect fair weather conditions.
06:05There are still chances of rain showers
06:07in the afternoon and evening.
06:08But by Wednesday,
06:10we expect the possible re-effect
06:13of the Intertropical Convergence Zone.
06:15The axis will either rise or shift northward,
06:19where it will possibly affect
06:22a large part of southern Mindanao,
06:24including some parts of the Davao region.
06:27So, here in Metro Davao,
06:28on Wednesday,
06:29we expect it to be cloudy
06:31and rainy,
06:33sunny, and rainy.
06:35The sunny weather here in Manila
06:37will subside later this afternoon,
06:40and will rise again tomorrow,
06:42around 6.20 a.m.
