00:00How can we use repellents against ticks?
00:05Ticks are present 365 days a year,
00:08so it is essential to prevent the spread of ticks on our dogs,
00:13both for their health and for ours.
00:15How do we do it?
00:16We can use the instruments in our possession,
00:18and therefore the anti-parasites, repellents or parasites.
00:23So, as far as repellents are concerned,
00:26it is essential to use topical products,
00:29such as pipettes, the famous pipettes we all know, or collars.
00:33They release the product on the tail of our pets, on our dogs,
00:37so that the tick cannot go on them and feed on their blood.
00:43These pipettes and collars, however, have a defect,
00:46in addition to the duration over time,
00:49also due to the fact that, especially in autumnal and winter seasons,
00:53in which there are still ticks,
00:55the humidity and the fact that the soil and the vegetation are wet,
01:00dilate the terminal parts of our dogs' clavicles a little,
01:04so from the legs up to the belly,
01:06and therefore they are small spots where the ticks can attack
01:09because there is no longer the product.
01:11So what do we do?
01:12We can use the products for systemic use,
01:14in combo or as a single solution.
01:16They can be found in compresses or injections,
01:19with a variable supply frequency.
01:21So, in this way, if we implement a correct preventive protocol
01:25and prevent our dogs from having ticks on them,
01:29we save them a lot of health problems,
01:32so diseases transmitted by ticks,
01:34and we also prevent these parasites
01:37from becoming a problem for the family that is with the dog.
01:42But how do we do if we go for a walk and come back home
01:46to understand if our dog has caught the ticks?
01:48So, I can tell you that it is essential to check them,
01:51so check the areas closest to the ground,
01:54then the shoulder blades, the interdigital area,
01:57the most glabrous areas, then the ears, the neck.
02:00But remember that your dog has a very thick fur coat,
02:04and it is very difficult to find ticks of very small sizes.
02:08We often notice them when they are now so big,
02:11more or less like a chick,
02:12but that means that the tick has made its meal
02:15and has exploited its pathogenic action.
02:17So, the only way we have to prevent our pets
02:20from running into problems related to ticks
02:22is a correct prevention.
02:24So, I would like to remind you and give you this advice,
02:28talk to your veterinarian,
02:30because it is an irreplaceable weapon
02:32to study the right protocol
02:34to protect your dogs and also your family.
