00:00I'm allergic to being corny in music and some songs, looking back, are just like, I cannot believe I made that.
00:06But you must have grown up with like some musical background because you play all these instruments as well.
00:15Yeah, absolutely. My parents like had they had music in the house all the time. Like, since I was young, everything was there was always all different types of music going on in the house.
00:25And I was like you said, I was playing piano from really young and understanding theory from really young.
00:31So how many instruments, what instruments do you play?
00:33Now it's I spend most of the time playing piano and guitar. But I mean, djembe, which is the African drum, if that counts.
00:41Oh, yeah, also trombone on this last album, but I wouldn't call myself really a trombone player anymore.
00:46So what you're like in band at school?
00:48Yeah, I was a band nerd. I'm not gonna lie.
00:51I feel like you have to be in band to know how to play the trombone.
00:54Honestly, it was just like, I just knew it was just an easy class for me because I spent so much time around music theory that like, we're playing basic stuff.
01:02And I just kind of excelled in it that and gym class.
01:06What do you think you would be filling your time with, though? If like, you didn't have sports or music? What do you think you'd be doing?
01:11I get into really random things and fill my whole day with them. Like I get hyper fixated on a bunch of things like a year ago, it was like telescopes, like astronomy.
01:22So now I have a crazy telescope collection.
01:24And then it was photography.
01:25So now I have like every lens that Sony makes.
01:29And then I don't know now it's fragrances.
01:31So I have like every fragrance.
01:33Even though I'm doing both, I still kind of go down these rabbit holes of things that like just interest me.
01:39So you're like a hardcore collector as well.
01:40Whatever you obsess about, you need like everything.
01:43Absolutely.
01:43I have like, yeah, or just like the best.
01:46I love technology.
01:46So like the best of what what there is.
01:50How come you never post any of your photography stuff?
01:53Um, I just feel like it's kind of off brand for me, but I posted a bit on stories.
01:59I should probably post a bit more.
02:01I definitely do take a lot of a lot of pictures that I think are pretty cool.
02:04A bunch of astrophotography because that kind of crosses over between the two.
02:08Are you are you into like only astronomy or like astronomy and astrology?
02:13I'm more so into astronomy.
02:15Astrology, I'm 50-50 on how accurate some of the things are.
02:21What's your star sign?
02:22I'm a Capricorn.
02:23Same!
02:25Oh, yeah?
02:25Yeah, when's your birthday?
02:27January 16th.
02:28Oh, 13th.
02:29Oh my god.
02:30Okay, we're neighbors.
02:31Very, very close.
02:33Hyperfixating on things is like a lot of fun sometimes, but it also can be very overwhelming.
02:39I think especially like we're saying like sports takes up so much, music takes up so much.
02:43And then you got to focus on socials because 2024, it's all about the socials.
02:48So how are you dealing with that?
02:51You said like photography is off-brand.
02:53I did notice like your Instagram and your TikTok is very much volleyball and music related.
02:59So how do you go around like creating content around that?
03:02Well, I have help.
03:04I'm not just running around myself with a camera.
03:07I have my manager.
03:08Well, I have a couple managers, but my manager Joe, he's a full-time photographer slash,
03:15I guess, content creator with me here.
03:19So we come up with just ideas that we think would be cool, things that you would show your friends.
03:22So for me, that's basically been the fact that I'm doing both things at the same time.
03:28So yeah, we just been, I don't know, pushing messaging around that.
03:31Also trying to capture things in cool ways and just do stuff that's different from what you're seeing
03:36because as artists, we're not just competing with other artists in the social space.
03:40We're kind of competing with everything that gets posted on social media.
03:46Okay, speaking about that, I was just on your YouTube channel
03:50and I noticed like a few people were saying like, why do you archive even your music?
03:55Like you've archived posts and music videos.
03:58Is that true?
04:00That's the, you're the first person that's ever called me out on that.
04:02I thought I was slick.
04:04That's crazy.
04:06I'm allergic to being corny in music and some songs looking back are just like,
04:11I cannot believe I made that.
04:13So, you know, like am I really going to leave it up there?
04:16The thing is though, when I do archive stuff or like delist it,
04:21so like people can't see it, if someone's really a fan and they like that song a lot
04:25and they ask me for it, I always have it and I always just send them the Dropbox link.
04:28So like I did, I took a whole album down.
04:33I don't like the album, but it was like my first album, you know,
04:36like if you're a supporter, like I appreciate you and I don't want to take it away from you.
04:41I just, for me, I just can't have that up there.
04:43But are you worried like people who like discover you now?
04:47Because obviously there are people who appreciate that first album.
04:50I feel like every artist doesn't particularly like their first album,
04:54but like the fans like it.
04:56So are you not worried like people won't be able to discover that side of you?
05:00It's an interesting point.
05:02Maybe I'll come around and undelete it.
05:06I love your facial expressions while we're talking about it.
05:10Well, we'll see. We'll see. I don't know.
05:12Maybe someone's going to have to leak it on Spotify,
05:16or not Spotify, on SoundCloud and people can do their digging.
