00:00I wouldn't tell her anything because I wouldn't want her to change anything about herself.
00:05If I could go back time pun, I macam, takpelah, biarlah dia. Dia kena belajar sendiri.
00:11That's exactly what I would say, like, how I would answer this question.
00:17I would say nothing. I would not disturb anything.
00:20Hi guys, welcome back to my celebrity podcast. It is episode 3 and I hope you guys enjoy this one.
00:31I think the most important thing in creating art is to be just so sincere and just strip everything.
00:49There is really no other way to create art, to create something, to write anything, to paint anything without absolutely stripping every bit of you.
01:00And I don't want to ever lose that ability to do that.
01:03Maybe that inspires people, I don't know. Courage and strength does inspire people in a way that people can't see, you can just feel.
01:15So maybe that's why I feel like my art still is resonating towards my listeners and people who watch me on screen and my fans who are still around even after 10 years.
01:29So maybe that's why, if I answered that question correctly.
01:33There's a lot of challenges in... I feel like for me, I feel like I've always been the bridge of like urban and mass.
02:00And my challenge has always been juggling between what kind of market do I want to tap into.
02:10Because I speak in English, but I'm a Malay, things like that.
02:15And there's this struggle between my mass market and my urban market.
02:23And they're always going to disagree with each other.
02:25And so whatever that I do here might not be correct here.
02:29Whatever I do here might not be correct here.
02:31So I always have to manage their expectation to who I am as a person.
02:36Because sometimes they don't understand that people can be that binary.
02:40That duality exists in people.
02:43I can speak in Malay and I can speak in English too.
02:47I can write in both languages.
02:50I speak in both languages.
02:52I can appeal to both markets as well.
02:54I can appeal to the urban market.
02:56I can appeal to mass.
02:57You know, maybe not full.
02:59But then, that's why I feel like my challenge from before until now is trying to put myself in...
03:09I don't know where I'm at actually in that spectrum.
03:14I don't know where would you put me.
03:16I'm always the bridge.
03:17I'm always the middle of things.
03:19You know what I mean?
03:21At first, I'm trying to kind of group myself somewhere.
03:29Oh, maybe I'm finally mass.
03:31Because in the beginning, I'm such an indie artist.
03:34But now, I'm like, you know, you can just put me anywhere you want.
03:38Anywhere you see me fit.
03:40I'm just gonna be myself.
03:41I've tried to put myself in this world.
03:43Maybe I can go do that project.
03:47So, the other side can accept me.
03:49Or maybe I can just stay here.
03:51So, the other side feels like I'm not leaving them.
03:55I don't know if you guys understand or not.
03:56You know, I hope people are understanding where I'm coming from.
03:59But now, at this point in my life, in my career, I'm just gonna be me.
04:04And you guys can just put me anywhere you want.
04:06You know?
04:07Because I just don't feel like I wanna mold myself into becoming any of those anymore.
04:13If I'm meant to be in the bridge,
04:15and this person that's like so everywhere,
04:22then so be it.
04:24I'll just make that my thing, you know?
04:26I can be the actor, and the singer, and the writer, and the producer, and the director.
04:31And someone who acts in this kind of movie,
04:36and someone who rings in this kind of genre.
04:39Put me anywhere you want, you know?
04:42I'm done molding myself to fit what people define of me.
04:55I think Penat was one of my most successful songs because of the pandemic.
05:00When I wrote it, Penat is actually about a relationship.
05:03I'm just really tired of being in that relationship.
05:06I'm just so done.
05:11But I think because the title Penat,
05:13represents so many kinds of exhaustion.
05:16At that time, a lot of people were tired of not being able to go out,
05:21tired of staying at home,
05:23just kind of being depressed.
05:25And we were facing a lot of losses.
05:29So, I think for me personally, that song was all the heaviness.
05:35I wouldn't say it's Penat Relationship or Penat Apakah.
05:38In my personal writing vibe at that time, it's about love.
05:44But the heaviness is about all the heaviness that I felt,
05:48which is being trapped as well.
05:59I think when it comes to acting, all of the roles that I played,
06:02it was always been like a part of me.
06:09I'm not sure if this is how other actors approach their roles.
06:13But for every single role that I played, there's always a part of me in there.
06:20I've tried very hard to separate my characters into a different entity.
06:25But there's always a part of me that's stuck in there.
06:29And of course, if you talk about what I've learned from my characters,
06:33I've learned so much.
06:34I've learned a lot from Aida, my character in Project Anchor SPM,
06:41and how determined she is.
06:43And I've learned a lot from my character in Mia, Project High Council,
06:47and how badass and how fierce she is.
06:52So, all of these characters will always have a special place in my heart
06:55because I feel like as much as they are a part of me,
06:58a part of me will always be left in them as you watch the series.
07:04I don't know, it's being an actor.
07:06I feel like a lot of my actor friends are also magical beings
07:09because it's not easy to shapeshift.
07:15I'm a shapeshifter, right?
07:16So, shapeshift yourself into all these roles and not absolutely lose your mind.
07:26If you could go back in time, what would you do?
07:32I wouldn't tell her anything.
07:33Because I wouldn't want her to change anything about herself.
07:37If I could go back in time, I'd be like,
07:39it's okay, let her be.
07:40Let her be, she has to learn on her own.
07:42That's exactly what I would say,
07:46how I would answer this question.
07:48I would say nothing, I would not disturb anything
07:51that would cause the whole world to melt down.
07:53You're not supposed to disturb the quantum of time in everything, you know.
07:57It's like, everything will explode.
08:02Alright, so that was episode 3.
08:05Thank you for still tuning in.
08:07Don't forget to watch the next episode with me in my Celebrity Podcast.
