00:00The election postponement bill for the farm's midterm polls has cleared third and final

00:05reading in the Senate, with the reset of the midterm elections slated for May 12 moved

00:11to October 13 this year.

00:14With the House expected to pass their version of the bill at the bicameral conference committee

00:19to unify the House and Senate versions thereafter, Senate President Francis Chises Codero wants

00:25no more delays or extensions, while his predecessor and colleague Senator Miguel Zubiri prays

00:32for another shot for plebiscite in Sudu to keep them in the BARM, as our Daniel Manalistas

00:38has this report.

00:42The bicameral conference committee agreed to postpone for five months the BARM elections,

00:47as they agreed set it aside for on October 13, 2025, which was originally planned to

00:54happen on May 2025.

00:57Senate President Francis S. Codero explained his reason why the BARM elections was not

01:02postponed for one year.

01:04It's been too long.

01:05Actually, my real reason, personally, I don't know the reason of others, if it's been one

01:08year, then the Congress will have enough time to reset it again.

01:12It's better if it's shorter for me, so that there's no time to reset it again.

01:16The BARM elections should continue.

01:19Senator J.V. Herceto explained how they used the Senate's version as working draft, but

01:23also used some provisions from the House.

01:26They compromised.

01:27So, the House should have one year, and then the term expired, they made an appointment,

01:36they made a five-month session in October, until after the elections.

01:44Some senators, meanwhile, explained their votes on the bill during its approval on third

01:49reading.

01:50The Senate, meanwhile, ratified the BICAM report.
