00:40and economic emergency due to the insecurity crisis generated by the armed conflict between
00:45insurgent groups.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia.
00:54From Telesur Studios in Caracas, Venezuela, we begin with the news.
00:57Stay with us.
01:13In the United States, President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders on his
01:17first day in office following his inauguration.
01:20The first nine executive orders were signed in front of a crowd of 20,000 people during
01:25the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington.
01:29The first order resents 78 executive actions and presidential memoranda issued by the Biden
01:35administration over the past four years.
01:38The President declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border while auditing a
01:43review of the refugee admissions program to better align it with U.S. principles and interests.
01:49The current president, meanwhile, called the previous administration the worst in history
01:54for allowing criminals and criminal groups into the country.
01:57We're going to sign some orders right now, and that's really what I want to do.
02:06So, we're going to sign executive orders.
02:10First, I'll revoke nearly 80 destructive and radical executive actions of the previous
02:16administration, one of the worst administrations in history.
02:20Maybe the worst, not one of them, the worst.
02:23Somebody that would allow millions of people to pour through our borders from jails, prisons,
02:29mental institutions, insane asylums, gang members to be taken off the streets of Venezuela
02:36and deposited in our country, and many, not just Venezuelans.
02:40You know, crime in Venezuela is down 74 percent because they took their criminals and gave
02:46them to us through an open border policy of the previous administration.
03:01U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order pulling the U.S. out of the World Health Organization.
03:07Trump also ordered a comprehensive review of U.S. foreign spending.
03:12Both moves fit into Trump's more isolationist, America-first approach to international affairs.
03:19Scientists fear the move could roll back decades-long gains made in fighting infectious diseases
03:26like AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.
03:29Experts also warn it could weaken the world's defenses against dangerous new outbreaks capable
03:34of triggering pandemics.
03:36On trade, the President said he expects to impose 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico
03:42starting February 1st.
03:48On a press briefing held Tuesday, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China
03:53condemned the decision of the new U.S. administration of Donald Trump to include Cuba in the state's
03:58sponsored terrorism list.
04:07As President Díaz-Canel pointed out, the new United States government has resumed the
04:11deceptive practice of listing Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism.
04:16The aim is to continue intensifying its brutal economic war against Cuba in order to achieve
04:21its goal of dominating the country.
04:24The repeated use of the known state-sponsoring terrorism list wantonly imposes unilateral
04:28sanctions on Cuba, runs counter to facts, and it has no basis.
04:34It fully reveals the hegemonic, high-handed and bullying face of the United States.
04:43The spokesman also announced that they will seek to collaborate with the new U.S. administration
04:48to resolve trade issues after President Trump threatened to impose severe tariffs on China.
04:55The innate character of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation is mutual benefits and
05:00common wins.
05:01Maintaining the stable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations is in the fundamental
05:04interests of the two countries and the two peoples and is also conducive to global economic
05:08development.
05:09China is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with the United States, properly
05:14manage differences and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in accordance with the principles
05:18of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
05:22It is hoped that the United States will work with China to jointly promote the stable,
05:26healthy and sustainable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
05:56Welcome back to From the South.
06:03Russia became the main supplier of natural gas to China as part of energy cooperation
06:08agreements.
06:09Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed this during a video meeting with his Chinese
06:13counterpart Xi Jinping on Tuesday.
06:16At the same time, the Russian head of state added that Moscow is also the leading oil
06:20exporter to China.
06:22For his part, the Chinese President emphasized that relations between the two nations are
06:26based on friendship and mutual trust, which allows them to carry out successful projects
06:32in industry, transportation, agriculture and other sectors.
06:39We build our ties on the basis of friendship, mutual trust and support for equality and
06:44mutual benefit.
06:46These ties are self-sufficient.
06:48They do not depend on domestic political factors nor the current global situation.
06:54It can be said with certainty that foreign policy communication, joint work between Russia
07:00and China objectively plays an important and stabilizing role in international affairs.
07:06China-Russia relations, with eternal kindness and friendship at their core, as well as comprehensive
07:11strategic interaction, mutually beneficial cooperation and wins for both sides, are gaining
07:16new vitality.
07:20On Tuesday, Belarus holds early elections to choose the country's next president.
07:24Voting will run until January 25th, 2025.

07:36Among the candidates stands out the current president, Alexander Lukashenko, who is seeking
07:41a seventh term.

08:49Palestinians are now able to purchase the goods they need at reasonable prices as inflation
08:54decreased six times since the ceasefire deal has been enforced.

09:04in the south was 80 shekels, potatoes were 50 shekels per kilo, peppers were 100 shekels
09:09and eggplants were 70 shekels per kilo however, after the ceasefire was announced, people
09:14were finally able to purchase goods again and the price of a kilo of tomatoes dropped
09:18to 10 shekels allowing citizens to buy them with just a few shekels.
09:26In Palestine, authorities reported the arrival of hundreds of shipments of humanitarian aid
09:31for those affected by the crisis in the Gaza Strip.
09:34In the context of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian resistance
09:38movement Hamas, approximately 915 trucks were allowed to cross the border from Egypt to
09:45the southern city of Rafah.
09:47After the truce, some families returned to their homes, finding a level of destruction
09:51that they described as dystopia.
09:54According to various organizations, around 90% of the Gazan population was displaced
10:00suffering from malnutrition after 15 months of Israeli bombardments.
10:08Concurrently with the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli forces and extremist settlers
10:12terrorized the Palestinian population in the occupied West Bank.
10:16On Monday evening, groups of heavily armed Israeli settlers launched arson attacks on
10:22vehicles, commercial facilities and houses, injuring several Palestinians.
10:26The aggressions occurred in villages located east of Qalqija city, while the occupation
10:32forces protected defenders.
10:34At the same time, the Israeli army arrested many Palestinians in the West Bank, as well
10:38as it blocked access to numerous localities.

11:12So far, the investigation continues to find out the causes of the fire.
11:17In this context, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a national day of mourning to take
11:22place on Wednesday.
11:23We know in particular that our citizens who have lost relatives are in deep sorrow and

16:12social justice, a firm and clear voice in the midst of adversity, a woman who dedicated
16:21her existence to the cause of the most vulnerable, her commitment to the liberation of the kid
