00:00Stop the hostility, stop the violence, and make sure the humanitarian aid can be sent

00:11We have no intention to carve out Myanmar.

00:14In fact, we are looking forward to a peaceful dialogue with Myanmar and also the stakeholders.

00:19ASEAN has urged Myanmar's military government to prioritise peace in the country through

00:24dialogue sessions and a ceasefire agreement instead of holding elections.

00:30Foreign Minister Mohamad Hassan said ASEAN leaders have called on all parties to immediately

00:36stop hostilities and allow humanitarian access.

00:40One thing that we know that we want to have elections, but we told them election is not

00:44a priority at the moment.

00:46The priority now is to ceasefire and everybody has to stand down.

00:53Myanmar has been in turmoil since February 2021 when its military overthrew the democratically

00:59elected government of Aung San Suu Kyi and the National League for Democracy.

01:06The coup sparked widespread protests and civil unrest across the country, leading to violent

01:11crackdowns by the military junta that saw hundreds of thousands displaced.

01:18The junta announced plans to hold an election this year, which critics argue is a ploy to

01:24maintain military rule under the guise of democracy.
