00:02So, headteacher Mrs Matthews, what do you love most about Wilfrid Owen Primary School?

00:07It's hard to say what I don't love about Wilfrid Owen Primary School because everything is amazing.

00:13Although I've been here quite some time, I've been the head here since June of 23

00:17and the staff and the children just give their all to our school

00:21and it just has a lovely atmosphere, it's a lovely place to work.

00:26Teachers are amazing, they give their all to our children all of the time,

00:30their creativity in terms of their lessons and always trying to create exciting learning opportunities.

00:36Our Year 1 children, earlier this week there was an alien spaceship that landed in the playground

00:41and they're trying to find the aliens because apparently the aliens are pinching all the underwear in Shrewsbury.

00:46They're desperately trying to find that.

00:48They've been to space in Year 1 and they've been creating invitations in Year 3.

00:53They're always looking for opportunities to make learning exciting here and the children really appreciate that.

00:58Recently a really good Ofsted report as well from the school.

01:01How proud are you of that and some of the comments that Ofsted have made since you became headteacher?

01:07I don't think I could be more proud.

01:09One of the big things for us has been a real focus.

01:12One of improving our curriculum, learning is really important

01:15but another part of that has been about making sure that our children feel safe and welcome in school

01:19and that they feel that they are nurtured here and that the school not only offers opportunities for our children,

01:25but our community and I feel that Ofsted report really identified that actually we're not just a school,

01:30we are a community and our children really benefit from that.

01:34So Ruby, what do you love most about Wilfrid Aire Primary School?

01:38I like how it's like, I feel really safe here.

01:43It feels like I can speak to any teachers, I can speak to other teachers, I can speak to Mrs Matthews, Miss O'Hara.

01:52I can just speak to everyone, I've got lots of friends and it just feels really safe here.

01:57Is there a particular subject that you like the most?

01:59I really like all of them, but I really love science.

02:03Okay, is there a particular reason why?

02:06So our science teacher Miss Jones, she makes it really fun and there's like different experiments that goes on every lesson,

02:22not every lesson, it's just she makes it really fun and it's very fun.

02:28Are you going to miss Wilfrid Aire Primary School when you go to secondary school?

02:32Yeah.
