Dwyane Wade finally addresses Jimmy Butler vs Heat feud on his podcast. Why did he mention "a house divided cannot stand" at his statue ceremony?
Transcript
00:00Dwayne Wade, uh, I'm gonna do some Tobin right here. Okay, because here you go.
00:08We didn't make nothing of it back then. We didn't make nothing of it. Because he said it.
00:15We were more concentrating on that statue. Hold another conversation. Yep. When he said,
00:22a house divided, right? Yep. You were like,
00:29which means this been going on for a while. Jimmy Bala was not at that ceremony.
00:37This been going on for a while. D Wade, this was on his Y network podcast. Go check it on out.
00:46Go subscribe. Check, uh, check out D Wade. But he, as Leroy said, he put up this, this,
00:50he said this in his speech. And then, interestingly enough, like a week ago,
00:55posted a bit, posted that video on his Instagram. And I was like, did he take your clip? He did.
01:06So he threw, he threw a little line in the water to try to hook a big one. Yeah.
01:13Cause if you're going to bring that up, you knew what you were talking about then. Yep. And he said,
01:23let me remind you guys that D Wade saw this comment. That's what he's saying here. Uh,
01:33here is Dwayne Wade on his podcast saying why he said that in his speech.
01:40And the quote that I said that how's divided will not stand right. Right. You either in or you out
01:45at that moment. I took that moment to say that at a moment that was about me
01:50and I was addressing it to the organization and to the players on the team. And I don't get to say
01:56a lot, a lot of times because of my investment into the Utah jazz. But when I have my moments
02:03to be the face of the organization, I can say whatever I want as a player. That's why I took
02:07that moment and said that because I know I get to hear the conversations that everybody else don't
02:11get to hear. Right. Or what goes on and Tim Hardaway, Zoe, UD, D-Rag, Q-Ridge, everybody
02:21who put on a Miami uniform that I know, we were all looking at Riles like, yo, you what's going
02:26on over there? Cause it, you tripping. We used to iron fist. We don't feel, and we don't hear iron
02:33fist going on over there. And it's crazy because you would think when you in it, you don't want it.
02:39You, you think you want out. You think you want to go somewhere else. But then when you get out
02:44of, you realize that that structure, that iron fist kept you in line and not kept you in line.
02:50Like a little soldier kept you in line because there's this big role in the NBA will eat you
02:56alive. All right. So he's, he's been hearing some things, some chatter. Wait, wait, by the way,
03:06UD was on NBA today and they asked him about it. Yep. He said, y'all ain't about to get me.
03:15Not going to get me dudes. Y'all ain't about to get me. He started talking about Hybee.
03:20And Kalil where you say, Oh, I like that. You'd get Udonis has them. Like his, he's just,
03:27he's spitting on all opinions, but then they get him to the heat and he goes, Nope.
03:32Y'all ain't about to get, he's a nice try. D Wade then said that he had heard there had
03:38been some bickering. So this is why he felt like he needed to send a message.
03:45You know, I wanted to say that to the players as you know, as you hear a lot of bickering going on,
03:49we got guys, man, we don't make, we didn't, we got guys make a $250 million for four years
03:55in the NBA. Nowadays, this is on the backs of what every player has done
03:59to get us to this point. We're making more money than we've ever can dream of as a league.
04:05And so players are doing that. And then we still unhappy. We still, we still mad about certain
04:12things, right? Because a lot of us, a lot of guys are playing for the bread. Everybody ain't
04:17playing to win championships. Let's call a spade a spade. Everybody's there. Some people,
04:21a lot of people playing to change their life. Like I was, I love the game, but it was about
04:25my life change. And so I say, I stood up there and I said that because the grass ain't always
04:31greener. And as someone who was in that situation before where mine didn't go like it's going now,
04:36but I was in a situation where I left the organization. I wanted them to know that
04:40if you don't want to be here and the way things are working here and you don't like it and this
04:44and that, then don't be here. Cause this is not the organization for that.
04:51I don't only feel like it's towards one person.
04:53Hey,
05:02now very rarely. And I remember this too. I remember when bill Belichick got fired and
05:16I think he took the attitude. If ever I'm a coach again and I'm going out, I'm going out being me.
05:30And if it don't work, I can live with that. But if I don't do the things the way I want them done,
05:38then I'm going to be miserable because I never got to see if what I was doing was working.
05:46Right. Fast forward to Pat Riley. Pat Riley has dealt and has coached and has had to have
05:58relationships and do contracts for hall of famers. A lot of them. And the one thing that they all
06:09talk about is I don't care who you are. This is the way things are going to be done.
06:19And if you don't like it, there's the door. And, and when, when D Wade said,
06:27Whoa, what's up? You now we don't hit now. Now you don't have that iron fist.
06:33Right. And I think to be honest with you,
06:40the league has transitioned away from that and you have to appease the players a little bit more.
06:48But I still believe that Pat Riley doesn't because players come here. All the players
06:57that have played for Pat Riley have talked about how he runs things and how Spoe runs things.
07:06And if you look at all the guys that have come up through here and have gone on to other places,
07:14they may not have had the same success, but they all got paid.
07:20I think you, you have a lot of the sentiments that he's going to bring up in a, in some more
