01:09:11hey coach can you hear me okay oh wait
01:09:19you got me now now i can hear you awesome i could hear you before you kind of understand i got you i got
01:09:25you yeah if you're ready we'll go ahead and get started with questions matt perino will have our first question
01:09:33what's up how are you hey matt how are you i'm good um this was just taking the temperature of the room after the game it seemed like your defense was pretty pissed off about everything they heard all week long about not being able to stop the run was that your scent did you get a
01:09:49when you took the temperature of the room did you feel like there was guys going out there with something to prove
01:09:55it's an accurate pretty accurate statement
01:09:58yeah yep
01:10:01yep they they had a good demeanor all week that's all i'll say okay and then matt milano speaking of demeanor i was joking with sean about it like i you don't get a lot from him we barely even talk to him but is there something as somebody who knows him so well where you're starting you've seen something a sign a look in his eye anything where you're it's starting to feel like it used to for him
01:10:26yeah i mean i think the biggest thing that people tend to forget is matt milano
01:10:31was an all pro and then at the beginning of the year last year matt milano was playing as any as good as any defensive player in the national football league
01:10:39when you don't play football for as long as he's played it you know you just gotta you gotta knock the rust off you know and and i think we're starting to see some of that i think he's starting to he's starting to feel a lot more comfortable
01:10:53with just football in general i guess is the biggest thing the best way to get back to where you are is to play football and obviously there's been a few things here and there but i think you're just seeing him start to knock the rust off and matt milano matt milano
01:11:08and then obviously we could dive into lamar derrick that their offense is so good but how important is the communication but also the continuity between the three levels when you're facing two guys that present the problems that they do absolutely critical it doesn't matter who you're playing against it's that's a critical aspect of us having success on defense and and you know
01:11:36i think the biggest thing that that we need to make sure is that there's an upward trajectory with us and and making sure that and i say it every week but under have a great awareness of our opponent, how they're going to try to attack us and what we need to do against them and obviously we're going up against a great offense with great players, you know, and I think our defense will be up for the challenge.
01:12:00Thanks, Bobby.
01:12:01Appreciate it.
01:12:02Got it.
01:12:03Coach Babbage, Mookie Hawkins.
01:12:04Good win yesterday.
01:12:05Good win.
01:12:06Good win.
01:12:08Thank you, Mookie.
01:12:09Appreciate it.
01:12:10Under 25% on third down.
01:12:11I know you was loving that all day, but just care to talk about the importance of Taron Johnson.
01:12:12You know, he went down early, but he was able to come back.
01:12:13How much of a spark did that provide to know that he was be able to come back and play?
01:12:14Yeah, I mean, Terran Terran was an all pro last year for a reason.
01:12:15And his level of play is, is when it comes to the nickel position is near the top, if
01:12:38not at the top.
01:12:39So, you know, I mean, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:40he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:41he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:42he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:43he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:50he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:55he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:12:59he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
01:13:03he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's
01:13:33he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's
01:14:03getting guys back from the last match up. Matt Milano, Terrell Bernard, Terrence Johnson.
01:14:07Um obviously, they're going to help but specifically with the zone read when they have to make
01:14:12those quick decisions to have that kind of experience in that position to have the communication
01:14:17back. Just how critical is that when dealing with the zone read tandem there? Yeah, I think
01:14:22I think anytime um you know, it's interesting because our lineup has been all over the place
01:14:28a little bit this year and that's not an excuse by any means but you know, in any any profession,
01:14:34you know, the continuity I think is an important piece and open lines of communication, clear
01:14:39communication and then sometimes just knowing what the guy in front of you is going to do
01:14:43and um you know, that's that's uh and like I said before, that's a critical aspect and
01:14:53as I was saying here earlier, it's not just in football, right? It's in any anything that
01:14:58you want to have success in and um you know, I think the longer that a group of people
01:15:03in our case are on the field together and are constantly practicing that communication
01:15:07and and um you know, non nonverbal communication is is critical and it is absolutely helpful.
01:15:15So, it's good that all these guys are able to be out there together and and we're all
01:15:18on the same page kind of building on that. You know, you've been kind of injury fortunate
01:15:25the last couple of weeks to be keeping your guys weekend and week out. How much of that
01:15:29is a boost? How much is that? Uh yeah, knock on wood. Uh just a confidence in the game
01:15:33plan. Just having that continuity just in the past couple of months or the weeks here.
01:15:38Yeah, I mean, you know, it's it absolutely helps. I mean, clearly it helps and and you
01:15:43know, it's more about, you know, the cumulative reps of guys that have had a lot of reps um
01:15:49and are able to handle certain things. So, it absolutely helps. Thanks for the time.
01:15:53You got it. Hey, Bobby. John Worrell, the AP. Hey, John. Um uh you know, Joe was talking
01:16:01about how it felt like um you know, that game in week four seemed like a lot, you know,
01:16:05almost a season ago. Um was there any reason to look back at that tape? Um and what were
01:16:14what and and if and if so or if not, um why and and what did you garner from it? Yeah.
01:16:21Yeah. I mean, I think we absolutely look back at the tape um because it's still, it's
01:16:27the same opponent and you know, they're even operating at a higher level. Um and sometimes
01:16:34it's good. I mean, we we got our butts kicked early. You know, we settled in there a little
01:16:38bit. Um but you know, when you talk about on the defensive side, you know, situational
01:16:44football and and what it takes to win, we didn't do that. We did not do that in the
01:16:48first game and it starts with me and I think it's absolutely critical to go look at that
01:16:53as a motivator too. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. No one likes, no one likes losing like we lost. You
01:17:00know, no one likes that. I mean, we're all competitors. We're all here for a reason and
01:17:05that's not to take anything away from Baltimore. They they put it on us and um you know, obviously
01:17:10we're looking for a better performance this time and you know, we can, you know, sometimes
01:17:14those scars help you, you know, when you do have the chance in this case to play a
01:17:18team again. Good. Thanks a lot. You got it. Hey, Bobby. My question was uh fairly similar
01:17:26to John's uh but uh I'm gonna ask it maybe just slightly a different way. When you have
01:17:30a game like that one against Baltimore, how much of your time in preparing to face them
01:17:35a second time or or any team that that maybe handled you uh in that manner a second time
01:17:42is spent reviewing that game versus, you know, just scouting them the way that you
01:17:48would for uh uh uh any other opponent for the rest of the season and maybe just trying
01:17:54to come up with a game plan that's, you know, unique to that week in for lack of a term
01:17:59sort of, you know, try to predict what they're going to to run against you in the upcoming
01:18:03game. Yeah, I mean, we're gonna try to do that every time. Um you know, we're gonna
01:18:09that's what our job is is try to predict what they're gonna do and how they're gonna attack
01:18:13us but um you know, it's it's a good mix of everything. It's a good mix of everything
01:18:19Jay and um you know, we're gonna put, we're gonna try to put our best plan together to
01:18:24go out there and stop a really good offense um and not forget our fundamentals and and
01:18:31you know, the way we play and the way we execute, you know, so all that goes into it. You you
01:18:37had a smile on your face earlier when Matt asked you about the the maybe uh motivation
01:18:42inside of that room and hearing the noise from the outside and and a couple of guys
01:18:46did did refer to it. Um I'm guessing that they don't need that reminder this week because
01:18:52of the opponent and the result earlier this season. Can can that be used to your advantage?
01:19:00I think so. Every game is different but we'll find out. You know what I mean? We'll find
01:19:05out. Cool. Thanks Bobby. Yeah. Hey Bobby. Um I know it's early in the week and you're
01:19:12just getting going here with this opponent but when you're watching back that week four
01:19:16game and like you know said you know wasn't up to the standard you guys wanna play like
01:19:21what stands out of what didn't work? Like are you able to look back and be like this
01:19:25didn't work? That's it. Like is there specific things that stand out to you? Run game, pass
01:19:30game, third down, screen game, um red zone. What did go well isn't it? No, I think uh
01:19:42I think you know I will say this. There was a middle section of that game where our guys
01:19:47kind of buckled down and and um um you know started to put their foot down a little bit
01:19:53you know and and uh that was good to see um and we finished the game. I think we had two
01:19:58four-minute stops at the end of the game um although the score was what it was that's
01:20:02where you find out what your true character is you know and our guys didn't quit and they
01:20:06continue to play so um there's a there was a few good things in there and then you mentioned
01:20:12you know watching that game back how do you balance that with watching their most recent
01:20:17games and like what they're doing now like is it some of each like how how do you yeah
01:20:21it's just it's just a it's a balance of each and you gotta find it you can't give you guys
01:20:25too much information uh but you gotta give them enough information you know so um we're
01:20:30finding that balance um you know to our to our best knowledge uh to our experience we're
01:20:37trying to find that balance and you know trying to put a good game plan together and and go
01:20:41out and perform well. Thank you. You got it. Hey Bobby, what did your defense do yesterday
01:20:50to allow the Denver Broncos to just convert 22% of their third down opportunities? Yeah,
01:20:55I think we uh understood the plan and just executed the defenses you know and that's
01:21:01most of the time that's what it comes down to you know 11 guys specifically executing
01:21:05the defenses because as I've said before you know some of our third down um faults have
01:21:12not been you know specifically here specifically there you know it's been you know a culmination
01:21:18of things and you know it comes down to 11 guys doing their job you know and they're
01:21:23one eleventh and uh in the end it's 11 guys performing one defense you know so. What type
01:21:30of mindset did you see out of the defense on third down? Um they weren't going to be
01:21:36denied you know we gave up the one early um you know bad call by me um but you know they
01:21:44were determined. Thanks. You got it. That's all we got for you today coach. Thank you
01:21:50for your time. You got it. Thank you.
