For the first time in nearly 50 years, the Duke Blue Devils visited Dallas to face the SMU Mustangs. Despite being without head coach Jon Scheyer, Duke cruised to a 89-62 victory.
SMU looked to Wake Forest transfer Kevin Miller to lead the offense, and he delivered with 21 points. However, SMU’s offense as a whole struggled shooting, missing 14 free throws and hitting just 23 percent of three-pointers, which allowed Duke to control the game.
Duke, on the other hand, was efficient, shooting 12-of-16 from the free-throw line and over 50 percent from the field. Freshman Cooper Flagg was the standout, contributing 24 points, 3 assists, and 11 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils.
With the win, Duke extended its winning streak to eight games, while snapping SMU’s seven-game run. SMU will now travel to North Carolina to face UNC on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

00:00For the first time in nearly 50 years, Duke comes to town to take on the S&E Mustangs,
00:10a game in which every ACC opposing team has circled on their calendar.
00:14But unfortunately for the S&E Mustangs, in front of a sold out crowd, they came out short
00:1789-62.
00:18The Mustangs were looking to rely heavily on the Wake Forest transfer Kevin Miller,
00:23who beat Duke just last season when he played for the Demon Deacons, but ultimately his
00:2821 points was not enough as S&U struggled offensively, shooting around 23% from three.
00:34As for Duke, it was star freshman guard Cooper Flagg who continues to prove why he is one
00:37of the best in college basketball.
00:39Flagg registered 24 points with three assists and 11 rebounds, shooting both 100% from three
00:45and the free throw line.
00:46Head coach Andy Enfield said post game that it was a poor time for S&U to have a bad game.
00:51He said statistically this season they've shot very well, but tonight it was just deflating.
00:55Well Duke will now move to 4-0 in the ACC, and S&U will now move to 2-1 and will look
01:00to rebound when they take on UNC on Monday.
01:03For all things S&U basketball, tune in to Spectrum Cable Channel 15 every Wednesday
01:07and Thursday night at 11.
