00:00A journey between past, present and future, between those that have been and are the altars that have connected Italy as a whole.
00:10A page of the country told through historical photographs and those taken by the Dutch photographer Van,
00:16which starts from the first Italian motorway designed by Piero Puricelli dated 1924 until the arrival of those of the future.
00:23A photographic exhibition entitled Italy in motion, motorways and future,
00:27set up inside the Maxi and that will be possible to visit until February 2,
00:32an exhibition that aims to ignite a reflection on the role of the motorway as a symbol of technological innovation and integration with the landscape.
00:41The title of this exhibition is not a title by chance, Italy in motion,
00:46we must imagine that it awaits us to build our future and we need days,
00:52because certainly they have more push and more vision of what the future will be.
00:57A project that could, on the one hand, tell the extraordinary occasions that were born in the country
01:04from the presence of the motorway in architecture, in engineering, in landscape design, in technical and technological design,
01:12on the other hand, understand how we can see the future when we no longer need to lengthen the motorway,
01:19but to make it safer, more efficient, more capable, more connected, more sustainable,
01:25more capable of generating energy, maybe instead of simply spending it.
01:30There is also a message from the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella,
01:34where the wise words of that message give us hope and also give us all the responsibility we need to be able to work with great determination
01:48and to be able to guarantee that this infrastructure can serve the common good of people.
01:54The exhibition, made in collaboration with Autostrade per l'Italia,
01:58comes on the occasion of the centenary of the first Italian motorway,
02:01which was inaugurated by Vittorio Emanuele III on board a Lancia 3K Scoperta
02:05that traveled the road that connected Milan to Varese.
02:08But not only, a photographic route that also arrives on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the completion of the Autostrada del Sole
02:15and which aims to analyze historical projects and current construction sites.
02:19So this exhibition recalls the meaning of motorways in the development of the country,
02:25it starts with a look at the past but then looks to the future,
02:29because this is exactly the link that brings us here as Autostrade group,
02:34because the work we are doing is precisely to modernize the motorway infrastructure
02:41and guarantee this motorway infrastructure a useful life even for the next decades
02:46and enrich it with all those technological elements that are essential to meet the needs of modern mobility.
02:54A photographic itinerary, composed of four sections, rich of historical images,
02:58period videos, archive documents and much more,
03:01that enrich the photographic report made by BAN.
03:04Photos taken by the author on board a helicopter that will allow the visitor
03:08to take a look at the evolution of motorways but also of Italian society of the last century.
03:18Usually my commissions work are for architects and concern buildings, cities, places and so on.
03:23So I was really excited when Max contacted me a couple of months ago to work on this project.
03:29Naturally to show how in the beautiful Italian cities this infrastructure intersects with all this,
03:34how it is placed on the landscape, how it is realized and all the rest.
03:38I think it's a really interesting subject.
