00:00Hello Dana Beers, good to see you. You too. You're looking a little paunchy.
00:07Paunchy? Soft. Doughy? Yeah doughy. Haven't really been in the gym much have you?
00:13Well I'm trying to get you a little more fit for your wedding and I think the
00:16first thing that would help is having the good clean energy of proper wild.
00:20This is exactly what you need to start looking your best and get into the gym
00:26on a more regular basis proper wild clean all-day energy. I look at you
00:33sometimes and I think to myself that guy has a lot of potential to turn this huge
00:39ball of dough into something very defined. You ever see NFL players that go
00:46from being offensive linemen and they retire and then within a couple of years
00:51they've shed so much weight? Joe Thomas. They undergo these huge body
00:56transformations. I think you can do that. I have the perfect body to be jacked. I
01:02would love to see that happen. Yeah it's not gonna. And that's because you are
01:08lazy. Yes. And you do the wrong things in the gym. I don't like other people
01:15seeing me clearly not know what I'm doing. I feel judged when I'm out there
01:20and I'm doing God knows what. We're not gonna be that guy. I could be. You don't
01:24have to be that guy. Okay. There's nothing wrong with lifting light weights, high
01:29reps, and toning yourself out. How can I go light weights? What are we, fucking children?
01:37Someday I will be jacked. It's just a matter of when I quit drinking. I think
01:42if you sent me like a personalized regimen. Yeah. That I could follow. Regimen.
01:48Right. Regiment is a unit of soldiers in the army I think. Okay. Some sort of. Same
01:55fucking thing. No? If you gave me a routine I would do that. I'm not gonna do
01:59it but I know an expert who could. Okay. You like NFL football. I love sitting on
02:04my fat couch with my fat food, sitting there being fat, watching people do very
02:09athletic things. Let's go meet Justin Pugh. Let's fucking do it dude. I need
02:15some help.
02:18All right. We are here in a place that Dana Beers finds very foreign and that
02:24is a gym. A place of health and fitness and I'm joined by 11-year NFL veteran,
02:29former New York Giant, Arizona Cardinal, and New York Giant again, Justin Pugh.
02:33It's good to be here. I am in awe of how handsome you are and I see before me a
02:39man that Dana could be if he cared about the longevity of his life or the way
02:44that his other loved ones view him because my guess is that you have lost a
02:49lot of weight since your playing days. I used to be 330 pounds. When I was first
02:52came to Barstool like 12 years ago, I was an overweight, eating pizza, drinking
02:57beer, offensive lineman. I didn't want to die at 40 so I'm like you know I got to
03:01start losing a couple pounds. This is such incredibly salient advice and you
03:05were 330 pounds but you had to be. That is the standard. One has to eat that much.
03:10Did you have any tricks or things that you would use to keep yourself at that
03:14weight? What I have found is the skilled position players who have been skinny
03:18their entire lives, they get the fattest. Really? Running backs get the absolute
03:23fattest of any former player. I don't know if Dana played running back. No, he
03:27was a wide receiver so a skilled position in theory but I'm gonna tell
03:31you right now, his weight gain has absolutely nothing to do with his former
03:35football prowess. No. No, it's just lack of discipline and a general lack of care
03:40for his own pride and dignity. He's a joke. Which is why we're here today and
03:46we're gonna run him through a series of NFL themed tests that might help him get
03:50himself into shape and teach him a few of the tricks of the trade that kept you
03:54going from 330 pounds to, would you mind if I ask how much you weigh now?
03:58Yeah, well if NFL teams are watching it's like 270. I can get up 10
04:02pounds if we're going on a playoff run. Wow, you're like the Christian Bale of
04:06the NFL. Just yo-yoing weight from one roll to the next. Yeah, I guess so. Well,
04:11very good. I can't wait to introduce you to Dana. I hope you hold him in as much
04:15contempt as I do for the way his body has gone. It's gonna be tough to see. I
04:19mean, I hate to see anyone just letting themselves go like this. We're gonna get
04:22him through this workout with the help of clean all-day energy from Proper Wild.
04:25Let's get it done.
04:30Good to meet you, man. You are handsome, motherfucker. He's handsome. You really
04:35are. This gives me hope. It should. Because he looks like a fucking god. Well, your
04:39first test today is going to be a 20-yard dash. Easy peasy. And we're also
04:44not really worried about you pulling anything. It's just like, you can't pull
04:47fat. It's just one of those muscles you just can't pull. We're gonna have you run
04:51twice, Dana. Do I have a goal? So let's say that we should try to see you do
04:56this under two and a half seconds. All right, you ready, Dana? Yep. On you.
05:05Oh, God. 3.28. Oh, my God. Not great. It was the get out. You gotta get out low.
05:13You gotta get out low. All right, I'll get out low this time.
05:17That was better. Better get out of there. Better. That was good. I like that start was something.
05:22You improved 3.25. Oh, it's not much better, is it? The bench press. You're gonna do
05:29135. Supposedly should. I got this. Let's set a goal. How many do you think you can
05:33do? Eight. No, we need you to get at least ten. All right, I'll do it. You warmed up a little bit, right?
05:38Yeah, I'll get ten. Easy. One. Touch your chest. Two. There we go. Three. There we go. Four. Five. Six. Oh, this is gonna be easy. Seven. Come on, you got this. Eight. We want fifteen here, Dana. Nine. Come on. Ten. Ten. Yes, Bill's gonna get you that job.
06:01My hips hurt. Come on. You gotta get eleven. Eleven. When you die on the bench press, you die quick. You're falling off the bench. Why am I pulling a cramp in my leg? Is that even possible? This should not be possible. He's dying. Twelve. That's it. That's it. That's it. Come on. Come on. Come on. Twelve. Twelve. That's it. Oh, my God. Maybe that's the running coming back to bite you.
06:24The three-cone drill. You gotta beat my time. Seven. Four. Five. Seven. Now, you're a tight end. That should be walking the park. Yep. I'm Travis Kelsey. Oh, yeah. Didn't touch the line. We'll work on that. Oh, get out. Seven. Twenty-eight. Oh, my God. Now, I'm sure that this is a slightly smaller regulation than. Well, yeah, you didn't touch either line. You didn't fully get there, but I think this is your
06:54drill. Cool. I'll do it again. Hit it. Go. Oh, don't. Oh, shit. Use the pillar.
07:04Seven. Fifty-three. That one, you almost hit shit on. Good job. Good job. Good job. Now, a test of your vertical leaping ability. It's the box jump.
07:14Nice. Thank you, sir. May I have another? Oh, there he is. See, that was never even a doubt. That's good. All right. Throw another one. Give me six. Oh, okay. That's a new one. That's a new style that we're trying now. Throw your hands.
07:36Yeah. That's right. That's it right there. This is high. There he is, folks. There he is. Hey, progress. Yeah, I'm done. I'm done. It's high. It's high. It's really high. The pass rush. Then quick. And here we are ready for you to try to stop Justin Pugh from sacking me, and we're going to go under center.
08:03Reminder, he is an offensive lineman, not a defensive lineman. Right. If and when I absolutely crush this, it's not that impressive.
08:17You just got to keep your head out of it, all right? Wait, what did you say? Just watch your head. Do you want me to put a helmet on?
08:23Oh, my God. I have a plan now. So you have a plan. Yeah. I have a counter to that. Most likely. I have a counter to your plan.
08:36Oh, what a terrible snap. He knew it. You know what I'm going to do now? Well, this is a little bit tougher for you now, because now you're not as low. So now it's harder. How are you going to fire out now? Don't worry about it.
08:46Set hut. Oh, my gosh. That was better, though. Golly. I'm wearing the workout. Set hut. Oh, wow. That's amazing. It's all about the punch. What a humbling day, Dana. I would say that you are not necessarily cut out to be an offensive lineman or really any type of football player.
09:14Maybe it's not the NFL level. You might be an XFL guy for right now. 20-yard dash. I think you took coaching, which is what every great player needs to have. I'm going to give you a D on that one.
09:24Oh, you listen to your coach when you did great. D. It was almost like this was like a participation trophy type of exercise. You passed. The bench press, I was pleasantly surprised. We thought, what, seven? He eclipsed ten. I mean, you aced it. You aced it.
09:37That one, look, you cramped up in your hip. You're falling off the bench. Technique wasn't pretty, but you got the job done. They don't ask how. They just ask how many. You got 12. The three-cone drill, you move like a cat. You got some good lateral quickness in there. I'm also going to go with a C on that one. It was a little bit better than the 20-yard dash. It wasn't as good as the bench press. And I have bad ACLs.
09:58How about the box jump? My favorite. I'm going to go B on the box jump. I thought I was going to get five at the most, so I'm pleasantly surprised getting six. And finally, the pass rush. Oh, you got an F. All the colors of the grading rainbow. I think there's an F, a D, a C, a B, and an A in there. Yeah, that's great. Thank you, Justin Pugh. I appreciate it, guys. Thanks, man.
