00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the greatest games to make
00:10their debut across 2024.
00:12This includes original titles, remakes, and even DLC if they're substantial enough.
00:2410.
00:25Silent Hill 2
00:33There was a lot of concern about Bloober Team's long-anticipated remake of this beloved horror
00:37icon, not only due to their checkered history of quality, but also the weight of taking
00:41a pinnacle of the genre and doing it justice.
00:44All fears were soon laid to rest when gamers got a gander at James Sunderland venturing
00:48into a visceral nightmare as he hunted for his thought-dead wife, all rendered in gorgeous
00:52detail.
00:53The performances, the psychological twists, Pyramid Head in all his foul glory, this reimagining
00:58nails every beat.

01:07Like A Dragon – Infinite Wealth
01:19Bringing together the leads from this beloved franchise's strongest installments was bound
01:23to happen eventually, we just didn't expect Kiryu and Ichiban's bromance to be arguably
01:27the greatest outing the series had ever seen.
01:30Taking the Yakuza out of the city and onto the sun-swept shores of Hawaii, the sheer
01:33volume of content Infinite Wealth offers is borderline unparalleled.
01:37Combat, story, side gigs, job classes, character writing, it's all so abundant it borders
01:42on the insane.
01:43Thankfully, it's handled with such earnestness that none of it feels like a chore, ensuring
01:48that your stay is a wholly entertaining one.
01:568.
01:58The Legend of Zelda – Echoes of Wisdom
02:05Excuse you Link, but kindly move over, the princess is here and her debut title is utterly
02:10enchanting.
02:11Swapping out the Master Sword for a rod capable of copying and summoning whatever players
02:15wish, Echoes of Wisdom is a delightful puzzler that very much shares the building blocks
02:19of what's made past Zelda games such a joy to play, all the while carving out a unique
02:23identity for itself that we're hoping becomes a mainstay.
02:26It's certainly more Link's awakening than Tears of the Kingdom in terms of presentation
02:30and scope, but thanks to a charming visual palette and multiple ways to approach every
02:33obstacle, it still delivers an experience worthy of being counted among the franchise's
02:42best.
02:447.
02:45Tekken 8
02:54The fighting game genre has been eating good recently, and the return of the King of Iron
02:58Fist tournament might just be the sweetest of desserts.
03:01Its fluid mechanics are newcomer-friendly, yet are brimming with potential for franchise
03:04veterans to take to the next level.
03:06The tweaks, changes, and polishing to be found here, along with a meaty roster, sent Tekken
03:118 soaring to the top of its genre, while accumulating a legion of fresh fans daring
03:15them to try their luck.
03:16As for the story mode, it's a globe-trotting smackdown featuring everyone's favorite
03:20fighters.
03:21What more could you want?
03:246.
03:26Bellatro
03:28There's no shortage of spectacular talent in the indie scene this year, though leading
03:36the pack with its sheer addictiveness is the unorthodox, yet wholly investing take
03:40on poker.
03:41Even if you don't consider yourself a card shark, by incorporating a roguelike element
03:45and an unfathomable amount of customization in terms of deck-building, Bellatro plants
03:49the seed in your psyche from the first hand.
03:51Before long, you'll be frothing at the mouth as you aim to score big thanks to a combination
03:55of tarot, jester, and other upgradable decks at your disposal.
03:59One game will never be enough.
04:045.
04:06Black Myth Wukong
04:08Adapting the monsters and mythological beings from Chinese folklore into a combat-heavy
04:21RPG would be a tall order for most developers to tackle, but what game science have accomplished
04:26with this outing cannot be understated in its brilliance.
04:29Something of a pseudo-sequel to the legendary tale that is Journey to the West, players
04:33take on the mantle of the Destined One as they trace Wukong's steps, encountering
04:36all manner of godly entities along the way, all in need of a simian smackdown.
04:41The biomes are lush, the combat has shocking depth, and the abundance of armor and weaponry
04:46will keep you coming back again and again until you're demolishing deities with ease.
04:534.
05:02Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
05:08What people liked about Remake exploded into sheer adoration for Rebirth.
05:12Taking Cloud and company out of Midgar and into a wider world, both the story and side
05:16content were amped up in ways none were expecting.
05:19If you weren't relishing the beautiful mesh of hack and slash and strategic combat, you
05:22were getting lost in the myriad of varying activities that dotted every area.
05:26All the while, the expanded narrative gave us just as many larger-than-life set pieces
05:30as there were intimate character moments.
05:32Look, we got the option to see Cloud and Tifa become an item.
05:35That alone warrants an inclusion.
05:433.
05:46Metaphor Re-Fantasio
05:55Atlas must feel like they're on top of the world right now.
05:58After all, we thought we were getting a treat with the excellent remake of Persona 3, but
06:02as it turned out, that was just the opening act.
06:04Metaphor may not have a school setting or romance options, but what it does have is
06:08immense quality in practically every other aspect.
06:11Its world is stunning to behold, and while the overarching themes of inequality set in
06:14a fantasy world might appear generic on paper, thanks to its astounding characters, you'll
06:19be gripped from the get-go.
06:20Also, that battle system.
06:22Holy shit.
06:23This is not only the best combat has felt in an Atlas title, but among turn-based games
06:27in general.
06:28It's a saga unto itself that demands to be played.
06:342.
06:36Elden Ring – Shadow of the Archery
06:38It's the DLC that puts most other AAA games to shame.
06:48Heading from the Lands Between to the Realm of Shadow and taking control of our tarnished
06:51was a delight in itself, but then we were presented with a vast world stuffed with detail
06:56and challenge around every darkened corner.
06:58Weapons and armor galore, some of the best bosses to ever grace a Souls game, enough
07:02lore and challenge to keep diehard fans satisfied for years to come, this bloody excursion in
07:07a bid to stop Mikula's rise to true godliness was magnificent from start to finish.
07:19Even if its final boss trounced us countless times until our spirits were shattered.
07:24Before we unveil our number one pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
07:271.
07:28Prince of Persia – The Lost Crown
07:292.
07:38Animal Well
07:393.
07:47Warhammer 40k – Space Marine 2

08:18Astro Bot
08:19A cute little robot jumping around and interacting with PlayStation icons?
08:31Sure, why not?
08:32Sounds like a fun little gimmick.
08:33It's not like it's going to be a true game changer.
08:35Oh, how wrong we were.
08:38Astro Bot is an absolute masterclass in joy.
08:40The intricacy of its levels paired with the simplicity of its platforming, along with the
08:44best use of haptic feedback to date, it all coalesced into an engaging odyssey that continued
08:49to blow us away with every new level we visited.
08:51The reverence it paid to franchises of the past, the freshness of its controls, it's
08:55the perfect marriage of nostalgia and quality.
08:58Astro is truly a mascot in the making.
