00:06 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking ahead to the games we can't wait to play in 2024.
00:11 If a game doesn't have a release window of at least next year, it sadly couldn't be considered.
00:15 [GAME AUDIO]
00:23 Number 10. Like a Dragon - Infinite Wealth
00:25 [GAME AUDIO]
00:25 By taking tours only available in Hawaii, you can change into brand new jobs.
00:30 [GAME AUDIO]
00:32 Formerly known as Yakuza, this Sega-published RPG series has grown more popular with every release.
00:37 Although we just got a new entry with the 2023 spin-off The Man Who Erased His Name,
00:42 fans are understandably ecstatic for a mainline installment.
00:45 Infinite Wealth follows the protagonist of 2020's Like a Dragon,
00:48 as he teams up with the main character from the original series to find his missing mother.
00:52 In addition to Japan, the game will take us to Hawaii as we undoubtedly navigate a criminal underbelly.
00:58 However, the franchise's wacky shenanigans and over-the-top mini-games will be out in full force.
01:02 The franchise only seems to get better, so Infinite Wealth will be a great start
01:06 to the gaming year when it launches in early 2024.
01:08 [GAME AUDIO]
01:16 Number 9. Avowed
01:18 [GAME AUDIO]
01:23 Skyrim might remain the king of first-person fantasy RPGs among a sea of copycats,
01:27 but we've got a good feeling about Avowed. Announced back in 2020,
01:31 the game is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
01:34 The studio has an excellent track record, having given us gems like Fallout New Vegas
01:38 and The Outer Worlds. However, Avowed will also be set in the same universe as their
01:42 beloved Pillars of Eternity series, which should please longtime fans.
01:45 While there's still a decent amount we don't know, including a definitive release date,
01:49 the studio's caliber and the allure of another wondrously magical world to get lost in is enough for us.
01:54 [GAME AUDIO]
02:08 Number 8. Princess Peach Showtime
02:10 [GAME AUDIO]
02:16 While Princess Peach is often the damsel, Nintendo has let her join the heroes in several
02:20 recent titles, including 2023's Super Mario Bros. Wonder. But with Showtime,
02:25 she'll have a game all to herself. The stage play-themed adventure will only be the second
02:29 solo game she's received following 2005's Super Princess Peach. Even if that wasn't the case,
02:34 we'd be delighted with what we've seen so far. With a new group of villains taking over a theater,
02:38 Peach will wear various outfits with different abilities for each game. Yes, it's adorable,
02:42 but it also seems incredibly imaginative. We're expecting the same level of charm
02:47 always found in Mario, and we doubt Nintendo will disappoint.
02:50 [GAME AUDIO]
02:58 Number 7. Earthblade
02:59 [GAME AUDIO]
03:05 Not only was Celeste one of the best games of 2018, it was one of the best platformers in
03:09 recent memory. So you can imagine our joy when we learn the studio is working on a Metroidvania.
03:14 Earthblade will see players return to a desolate Earth and explore the ruins left behind.
03:18 Utilizing a gorgeous pixel art style once again and reteaming with genius composer Lena Raine,
03:23 Earthblade looks to offer a bit more action than its predecessor. While the indie scene is a tad
03:28 crowded with Metroidvanias, we'd be shocked if developer Extremely Okay Games didn't find a way
03:33 to stand out. And we're downright jittery with excitement to see how when it launches sometime
03:38 next year.
03:38 [GAME AUDIO]
03:45 Number 6. Star Wars Outlaws
03:47 [GAME AUDIO]
03:53 Star Wars has one of the more unique criminal underworlds in pop culture.
03:56 But letting us explore that while also being set right after The Empire Strikes Back? Sign us up.
04:01 Outlaws follows Kay Vess as she's pulled into an enticing heist plot. Published by Ubisoft and
04:06 developed by Massive Entertainment, the studio behind The Division, it promises plenty of thrills
04:11 to match the setup. Trailers have shown high speed chases, tense blaster action, and some branching
04:16 dialogue paths to spice things up. The open world will take us to familiar locales as well as
04:20 completely new ones. Hopefully it'll bring enough new and old to please the fanbase. Though it
04:24 doesn't have an exact release date, we stand at the ready.
04:27 [GAME AUDIO]
04:32 Number 5. Senua's Saga - Hellblade II
04:35 [GAME AUDIO]
04:42 With a focus on Norse mythology, a supremely crafted atmosphere, and a stunning performance
04:46 from Mileena Jurgens, the first Hellblade was an impressive display. Players have been waiting
04:50 since the sequel's 2019 announcement to get another taste and we pray to Odin that the wait is almost
04:56 over. The first game did a fantastic job blending Norse elements with Senua's psychosis, leading to
05:01 trippy visuals and lending every area a definite sense of dread. The sequel sees Senua head to
05:06 Iceland this time, and while a fair amount of the story remains a mystery, the less we know,
05:10 the better. As long as Ninja Theory brings the same caliber as the first, we'll be pleased.
05:15 [GAME AUDIO]
05:22 Number 4. Tekken 8
05:23 [GAME AUDIO]
05:29 Tekken is one of the most enduring fighting franchises around, and by the looks of the
05:33 eighth mainline installment, that doesn't look to be changing anytime soon. The game picks up
05:37 six months after the events in Tekken 7 and offers several new promising features. Director Katsuhiro
05:43 Harada has called this game more aggressive thanks to a "heat state" mechanic, which can alter a
05:48 fighter's moveset and deal extra damage. Tekken 8 is also the first major fighter designed in the
05:53 relatively new Unreal Engine 5. Not only are the visuals incredible, but players will enjoy
05:57 destructible environments as their fights progress. Thankfully, we won't have much longer to wait as
06:02 Tekken 8 launches January 26th.
06:04 [GAME AUDIO]
06:15 Number 3. Rise of the Ronin
06:17 [GAME AUDIO]
06:24 From Dead or Alive to Nioh, Team Ninja rarely misses, and the studio's next looks to be one
06:29 of its most thematically and narratively rich. In Rise of the Ronin, we'll explore Japan during the
06:33 late 19th century in the midst of a civil war. In addition to playing through this historic period,
06:38 we'll be able to alter the story by choosing who to side with. While the story sounds grounded,
06:43 gameplay has the same level of flair the team is known for. Development started way back in
06:47 2015, and it's been called the studio's most ambitious game by director Fumihiko Yasuda.
06:52 We're currently in a new golden age of ninja and samurai games,
06:55 so we're excited to see what Ronin brings to the table.
06:57 [GAME AUDIO]
07:02 Number 2. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
07:04 [GAME AUDIO]
07:09 The original Final Fantasy VII remains one of the strongest installments in the long-running
07:13 franchise, and the first entry in the remake trilogy was a phenomenal effort in bringing it
07:18 into the modern age. Rebirth picks back up on Cloud and the Avalanche team as they continue
07:22 their fight against Shinra. While the first game mostly stuck to the events in Midgar,
07:26 Rebirth will expand on the world outside its walls as seen in the original.
07:30 Seeing how Square Enix revisited and changed elements from the groundbreaking title almost
07:34 made an entirely new experience. It was a wonderful mashup, flooding players with
07:39 nostalgia as well as excitement at the new possibilities. When Rebirth releases,
07:43 we have no doubt it'll be even better.
07:44 [GAME AUDIO]
07:49 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
07:52 The Plucky Squire, an indie adventure with a delightful style.
07:55 [GAME AUDIO]
07:59 Unicorn Overlord, a tactics RPG inspired by gems of the 90s.
08:03 [GAME AUDIO]
08:13 Paper Mario, the Thousand Year Door. The fan favorite entry is coming to Switch.
08:17 [GAME AUDIO]
08:24 Vampire, the Masquerade, Bloodlines 2. After a troubled development period,
08:29 the vampiric action RPG launches late 2024.
08:32 [GAME AUDIO]
08:39 Stalker 2, Heart of Chernobyl. The long-awaited next chapter in the alternate history FPS.

09:02 [GAME AUDIO]
09:04 Number 1. Hades 2.
09:06 [GAME AUDIO]
09:15 While Hades 2 only has an early access release window for 2024, we couldn't give the top spot
09:20 to anything else. Supergiant Games knocked it out of the park with the first game in every single
09:24 category. The roguelike mechanics offered plenty of variety with godly boons, and each Greek figure
09:30 was wonderfully characterized and voice acted. The story about Hades' son trying to escape the
09:34 underworld was a stroke of pure genius with this particular game, as every death expanded on the
09:39 narrative and relationships of the characters. The sequel follows Zagreus' sister, Melanoe,
09:44 as she hunts the titan of time, Cronus. Here's hoping it isn't an early access as long as the
09:49 first because everyone will want to get their hands on it.
