00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we are looking at games coming in 2025 that may not be on
00:15every player's radar, but certainly should be.
00:24But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long.

00:33Eternal Strands Huge fantasy action-adventure games are everywhere
00:43these days.
00:44But Eternal Strands, the first release from indie studio Yellow Brick Games, isn't garnering
00:49as much attention as many others, at least not yet.
00:53Everything we've seen looks to be a great blend of familiar and original, with its vibrant
00:58art style, ability to climb almost anything, and physics-based gameplay, it looks to be
01:03similar to Breath of the Wild, but with a heavier focus on combat and spellcasting.
01:09We'll play as Brynn, digging into the mystery of the Enclave, a long-lost civilization,
01:15while contending with Goliath-like arcs, massive bosses inspired by Shadow of the Colossus.
01:21The game will be directed by Mike Laidlaw, known for the Dragon Age series, with music
01:27composed by Journey's Austin Wintory.
01:29So it's got a lot going for it.
01:38Mio Memories in Orbit Another genre currently overflowing is the
01:48Metroidvania, but it looks like this one will stand out from the pack.
01:53Mio Memories in Orbit follows an android who awakens on a space station known as the
01:58Vessel, now plagued by rogue AI bots.
02:02And it'll be up to players to save its denizens from destruction, and uncover the cause of
02:07the Vessel's current state.
02:09Mio comes from French developer Douze Dixième, who have one game under their belt, 2020's
02:15artistic puzzle platformer Shady Part of Me.
02:18The studio's next release looks to have enhanced its visual flair and somber tone,
02:23while building off of the tense gameplay staples of the genre.
02:31Mugenix Now for something completely different, and
02:41quite silly.
02:42Mugenix is a roguelike turn-based tactics RPG where you breed cats to combine and enhance
02:49their stats.
02:51Yeah, wrap your head around that one.
02:53You'll send your little feline warriors, each with different classes, out to fight
02:57enemies across a dangerous landscape.
03:00The combat looks to be fun and quite varied depending on your team.
03:04But the breeding aspect is certainly unique, even taking inbreeding into account with the
03:09possibility of deformities.
03:12The project was actually first announced way back in 2012 with Super Meat Boy developer
03:18Team Meat before things fell through.
03:21Designer Edmund McMillen eventually re-acquired the license and began working on a new version
03:27with Tyler Glale, whom he worked with on another ultra-hard platformer, 2017's The End is
03:33Nigh.
03:40Glaciered
03:47Set 65 million years after the extinction of humans, Glaciered looks to be an interesting
03:53take on action-adventure games.
03:56Players will control a Twei, or Twi, or whatever, a species that evolved from birds to live
04:01underwater and also have some distinct dinosaur-like characteristics.
04:05They have thrived since the Everwinter, the ice age that destroyed life on the surface,
04:11but you'll have to save the planet from enemies that seek to heat things up.
04:15It will be the first game from Studio Snowblind, the one-person development team that is Kai
04:20Shibuya.
04:21The distinct setting and environments, along with what looks to be incredibly fluid movement
04:26and mechanics, has piqued our interest to say the least.
04:34Penny Blood Who doesn't love a bit of gothic horror?
04:44Penny Blood is an RPG set in an alternate history 1920's, and will follow a magical
04:50occult detective as he fights monsters across three continents.
04:55However, he'll also be able to turn into monsters himself during battle, which should
04:59lend fights a bit more variety.
05:02If that sounds like the PS2's cult favorite series, Shadow Hearts, that's by design.
05:07It's meant to be a spiritual successor, directed, designed, and written by their creator,
05:13Matsuzo Machida.
05:14It will also feature a real-time minigame in which you press buttons at the correct
05:18time for each attack, and a sanity meter that, when drained, makes your attacks powerfully
05:25unpredictable.
05:30Sleight of Hand On concept alone, Sleight of Hand grabbed
05:40our attention.
05:41Set in a seedy noir world, we'll play as a witch trying to infiltrate and bring down
05:46her old coven.
05:48Gameplay will be a blend of stealth action and deck building, utilizing various magical
05:52cards to set traps, teleport, scout for and blind enemies, and much more as you progress
05:59through the game.
06:00It's the first release from New Zealand based developer Riff Raff Games, which is
06:05also self-publishing.
06:06Admittedly, as of writing, we only have the announcement trailer and no gameplay to go
06:11off of.
06:12But the tone, mix of mechanics, and premise are all promising enough to keep an eye on
06:17it.
06:24Cairn
06:33For fans of survival games, Cairn sounds like it will really test you.
06:38As professional rock climber Ava, you'll brave Mount Kami, whose peak no one has ever
06:44reached.
06:45As you climb, you'll have to manage resources that allow you to do so, as well as food and
06:50medicine.
06:51It isn't exactly a set path either, as the game promises you'll be able to climb wherever
06:55you want, with mechanics and design that are as realistic as possible.
07:00Cairn comes from The Game Bakers, a renowned indie studio known for 2016's Fury and 2020's
07:07Haven.
07:08Early word is that the game is an extremely stressful, but ultimately incredibly rewarding
07:13experience.
07:22Winter Burrow Of course, if you want your survival games
07:29with an extra helping of cute, you've got other options.
07:33Winter Burrow, from Pine Creek Games, tells the tale of an adorable mouse who moves back
07:38to their woodland home to reconnect with their aunt, only to find the house in shambles and
07:43the relative missing.
07:44From there, you'll gather resources, repair and enhance your house, and meet your neighbors,
07:50all while contending with a harsh landscape and dangerous critters.
07:54However, it's marketed foremost as cozy, since you'll be able to play at your own
07:59pace.
08:00Honestly, it's the lovely storybook art style that immediately grabbed us, resembling
08:05picture books we used to read as kids.
08:12Eric Sholm The Stolen Dream
08:19We love a good mystery, and Eric Sholm The Stolen Dream looks like it will offer a deep
08:25one.
08:26Set in the titular fictional city inspired by early 1900's Scandinavia, players will
08:31control a young girl named Hanna.
08:34When her younger brother goes missing and the police begin hunting him, we'll have
08:38to outsmart them, relying on stealth-based mechanics to hide and distract.
08:43The developers at River End Games are promising a heavy focus on narrative, and the production
08:48value we've seen so far is surprisingly high.
08:52They're also promising plenty of twists and turns, with a story that winds towards
08:56the unknown.
08:57We're already hooked on The Prospect, and we're excited to see more.
09:05Unbeatable Let's end with a bang.
09:14In a world where music is illegal, we'll play as Beat, a kickass frontwoman of a rock
09:19band intent on causing commotion.
09:22We're suckers for hand-drawn visuals.
09:24Whether rocking out in combat and performances, or simply exploring the setting, the anime-inspired
09:30art style certainly pops.
09:32But the mechanics, a blend of action and rhythm, also have us incredibly excited, like a more
09:38indie hi-fi rush.
09:40The developers at D-Cell Games released a sneak peek preview back in 2021 titled Unbeatable
09:45White Label, which got incredible reviews on Steam.
09:49We can't wait to rage against the machine and monsters alike, alongside head-banging
09:54distortion, when the full game releases next year.
