00:00Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Broken,
00:13Boring and Befuddling Games to have released in 2024 so far.
00:23Number 10.
00:24Alone in the Dark
00:34There was a ton of hope riding on Alone in the Dark.
00:36The franchise hasn't seen a quality entry since the 90s when it was still on PC.
00:40For this reboot, it seemed as if things were looking up between the visuals, environments
00:44and story.
00:45Alas, it just wasn't in the cards for THQ Nordic and Developer Pieces Interactive.
00:56Between the janky combat and myriad of bugs and glitches, Alone in the Dark played like
00:59the survival games of old in the worst ways possible.
01:02Honestly, we're starting to wonder if the IP is just cursed at this point.
01:13Number 9.
01:14Phantom Fury
01:22Ion Fury was one of the coolest FPS games released back in 2019 with its unique premise,
01:27frenetic action and absurdly violent weapons.
01:29The same cannot be said with Phantom Fury.
01:32What happened here?
01:33Was it poor technical performance, awful UI, softlocks in the worst spots?
01:37All of the above, plus the general lack of imagination here.
01:47Not only does Phantom Fury pull the same tricks we saw in the previous game, it does so with
01:51half-hearted attempts.
01:53It doesn't help that some staff members at publisher 3D Realms attempted to dismiss any
01:57negative feedback with empty accusations, especially when it came to criticism being
02:01made by prominent members of the boomer shooter community.
02:11Number 8.
02:12Killer Clowns from Outer Space – The Game
02:23Considering this came from the same team behind 2017's Friday the 13th – The Game, Killer
02:28Clowns should have been a step forward, right?
02:31Maybe in technical performance?
02:32The big problem with Killer Clowns is that the pacing and game balance is so out of whack
02:36that it makes every match a slog to play.
02:48By the time a clown player meets a human player, the fight ends within mere seconds with no
02:51strategy outside of running away or spamming the same attack until you accept your fate.
02:56Sure, you may have fun playing this with your friends, but at $40 for a copy, you're better
03:01off jumping into other asymmetrical multiplayer horror games.
03:12Number 7.
03:13Contra – Operation Galuga
03:21Speaking of $40 games that fail to live up to expectations, Contra – Operation Galuga
03:25was supposed to revive one of Konami's many, many dormant IPs.
03:29Unfortunately, this proved to be one of Konami and developer WayForward's laziest outings
03:34yet.
03:41It runs fine, for the most part.
03:43There are some collision detection issues occasionally.
03:45However, the action is far too slow, making it more painful to play than the original
03:50Contra.
03:51Plus, no online multiplayer?
03:53What the hell?
03:54If this is the level of corner-cutting and lack of investment Contra gets, who's to say
03:58the rest of Konami's upcoming games will be any better?
04:07Number 6.
04:08Star Wars Hunters
04:09When a game is given little to no marketing right up until launch, that is rarely ever
04:20a good sign.
04:21Case in point, Star Wars Hunters.
04:24We only got a teaser trailer way back in 2021, with a little bit of gameplay shown a few
04:28months later.
04:29So, what happened in the three years since?
04:31Not much.
04:32The free-to-play game was released for Switch and mobile and is one of the most boring hero
04:36shooters you can play.
04:43None of these characters have any personality, dialogue is uninspiring, gunplay is unsatisfying
04:48with its lack of oomph behind every shot, and the selection of maps is unreasonably
04:52lean.
04:54That goes without mentioning the obscene grind to unlock characters and the egregious monetization.
05:06Number 5.
05:07Jujutsu Kaisen – Cursed Clash
05:17Another fighting game for another mega-popular anime.
05:20Can we get something different for once?
05:22And can it be a quality title, please?
05:24Jujutsu Kaisen – Cursed Clash should have been an easy win for Bandai Namco Entertainment.
05:28This is a fighting game based on an anime where people are using ghostly powers to fight
05:32each other.
05:33How does that not spark an ounce of imagination here?
05:35No pun intended, but there is absolutely no soul in Cursed Clash.
05:39Not in its graphics, not in its story, not in its mechanics, and certainly not in the
05:44online functionality.
05:54Critics quickly pointed out how this game was merely a desperate cash-grab attempt to
05:58capitalize on a hot new IP, and honestly, it's not hard to see that.
06:08Number 4.
06:09Skull & Bones
06:16Skull & Bones started development in 2013.
06:192013!
06:20Over a decade ago, with six of those years being spent constantly delaying the game while
06:24trying so hard to keep the hype going with buzz terms like quadruple A game.
06:29And what did we get?
06:30A game centered on repetitive combat, arbitrary survival and crafting mechanics, awful map
06:35design, and horrible monetization.
06:43Credit where it's due, Ubisoft did launch the game in a more technically sound state
06:47than most of its games in recent years.
06:49But when you have a competitor like Sea of Thieves, or a predecessor like Assassin's
06:52Creed IV Black Flag with more meat on its bones in terms of mechanics, presentation,
06:56and exploration, a game like Skull & Bones is simply unacceptable.
07:08Number 3.
07:09MultiVersus
07:16The live-service trainwreck keeps on wrecking and MultiVersus quickly became a recent victim.
07:21Pulling the beta for a year was a questionable decision, but when we heard it was to move
07:24the game to a different engine, cool, understandable choice.
07:28And the improved visuals made us more excited about other improvements possibly being made
07:32if there had been any in the first place.
07:34Not only did MultiVersus relaunch with more bugs and glitches than ever before, it relaunched
07:39with an even worse netcode, steeper prices and microtransactions, and an even more grindy
07:43progression system that offered less XP than before.
07:52In other words, MultiVersus took a year off for a little more spit and polish, but forgot
07:56to polish.
07:57Now, it's just spit.
08:06Number 2.
08:07South Park – Snow Day
08:14With Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole establishing what a South Park game should
08:18be like, one would hope Snow Day would follow suit.
08:20Ladies and gentlemen, Cartman's cereal bombs are more appealing than this.
08:31South Park – Snow Day is just like those awful PS1 and 64 games we got back in the
08:3690s.
08:37Mundane gameplay, shallow combat, and worst of all, it just isn't a funny game.
08:41Hardcore fans may get a chuckle from one or two bits, but even at $30, 6 missions, a half-ass
08:46skill tree, and random bullshit cards do not make this game fun.
08:51And yes, this did come from an internal development team at South Park Digital Studios.
08:55Had our final entry not released this year, or ever, this would have easily taken top
08:59spot for this list.
09:04But what beat it out?
09:05You can probably already guess.

09:23Number 1 – Suicide Squad – Kill The Justice League
09:36Once upon a time, Rocksteady Studios was a developer built on innovation, helping pave
09:40the way for licensed video games and superhero games with the Batman Arkham series.
09:45After being away for almost nine years since Batman Arkham Knight, what has Rocksteady
09:48come back with?
09:49A live-service third-person shooter with some of the most abysmal mission structure, the
09:54poorest attempt at making end-game content, a lackluster story with an abrupt ending,
09:58and post-launch support that has only under-delivered to what few players remain.
10:10Suicide Squad – Kill The Justice League has become such a massive flop, it has contributed
10:14to Warner Bros. suffering from a loss of $200 million.
10:18As for Rocksteady, Sefton Hill left mid-development, a skeleton crew is working to finish whatever
10:23post-launch support is left, and the rest of the staff are now working on a special
10:27edition of Hogwarts Legacy.
10:29What an upsetting fall from grace.
10:39What's the worst video game you've played this year?
10:41Did it make our list?
