00:00The magnitude of its impact alone is astounding.
00:042 million households energized and powered up and 4.3 million metric tons of environmentally harmful carbon dioxide
00:11taken off the air or the atmosphere.
00:13And that doesn't include the three and quarter billion dollars or 200 billion peso price tag for the project
00:19as we hear more in this report from BTV's Benji Durango.
00:24A 3,500 hectare solar power plant is being built across the provinces of Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.
00:30This project, to be called M-Terra Solar, had its groundbreaking ceremony today attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
00:37Now that the time capsule has been sealed,
00:45the president shall lower the time capsule.
00:50The 200 million peso project of Miralco PowerGen Corporation and Terra Solar Philippines Incorporated
00:55is now in full swing, aligning with the president's goal of developing renewable energy in the country.
01:11The project will be divided into two phases.
01:13In February 2026, the 2,400 megawatt solar farm will be opened
01:18and an additional 1,000 megawatts in February 2027.
01:22This landmark project will put our country on the map as a leader in renewable energy.
01:28Once completed, it can generate 3,500 megawatts of its 5 million panels.
01:34This is equivalent to powering 2.4 million households or 67% of the NCR.
01:40The Terra Solar project will help stabilize our power supply,
01:44reduce energy costs,
01:46and contribute significantly to our target of 35% renewable energy share
01:52in the power generation mix by the year 2030.
01:57According to EMGEN President and CEO Emmanuel Rubio,
02:00since the power generation costs will decrease,
02:02it is also possible for Miralco to reduce its charges to its customers.
02:07When it is operated, the consumers will feel it.
02:10The full delivery of its capacity is expected to be in February 2027.
02:16But in first place, we will be delivering in March 2026.
02:20It will also provide 10,000 jobs for Filipinos
02:23while reducing the country's carbon emissions by 4.3 million tons annually.
02:28We are working towards a steady and reliable power supply
02:32that will meet the demands of today and continuously fuel our ambitions for tomorrow.
02:39We will build, we will take action, and we will never stop daring.
02:44This project will place the Philippines on the list of countries leading in green energy generation.
02:50From PTV, Benji Durango, Balitang Pambansa.
