00:15which will be built in Nueva Ecija.
00:17Aside from addressing the need for energy,
00:20it will also open up many jobs for the thousands of Filipinos.
00:25This is the story of Benji Durango.
00:303,500 hectares of land, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan cross the two provinces.
00:35It will be called M-Terra Solar.
00:37Today, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. led the groundbreaking of this project.
00:42Now that the time capsule has been sealed,
00:50the President shall lower the time capsule.
00:54In full swing is the 200-million-peso project of Meralco PowerGen Corporation
00:58and Terra Solar Philippines Incorporated.
01:01This is in line with the President's desire to create renewable energy in the country.
01:05Today, we take a leap towards the future,
01:08driven by innovation and sustained by our collective hope
01:12for a cleaner and greener Philippines.
01:15The project will be divided into two phases.
01:17In February 2026, the 2,400-megawatt solar farm will be opened,
01:22and an additional 1,000 megawatts in February 2027.
01:26This landmark project will put our country on the map as a leader in renewable energy.
01:32When it is completed, it can generate 3,500 megawatts from its 5-billion panels.
01:38The Terra Solar project will help stabilize our power supply,
01:43reduce energy costs, and contribute significantly
01:47to our target of 35% renewable energy share
01:51in the power generation mix by the year 2030.
01:55According to the President and CEO of EMGEN, Manuel Rubio,
01:58because the power generation cost will be reduced,
02:00it is also possible for Meralco to lower its cost to its customers.
02:03When it is operated, consumers will feel it.
02:07The full delivery of its capacity is expected to be in February 2027.
02:13But in first phase, it will be delivered in March 2026.
02:17It will also be able to provide 10,000 jobs to Filipinos
02:21while reducing 4.3 million tons of carbon emissions per year.
02:26We are working towards a steady and reliable power supply
02:30that will meet the demands of today and continuously fuel our ambitions for tomorrow.
02:37We will build, we will take action, and we will never stop daring.
