L'eczema cronico delle mani si presenta con quadri clinici diversificati e sostenuti da meccanismi patogenetici differenziati. Dall’esperto il quadro sulla patologia".

00:00The chronic hand eczema is a non-transmissible pathology,
00:10so it is not a contagious pathology.
00:13It can be defined as an inflammatory pathology of the cuticle
00:18with a specific location to the hands,
00:21even if by definition the wrists can also be involved.
00:27It is an extremely heterogeneous pathology,
00:30often also indicated with other terminologies.
00:33The most frequently used synonym of hand eczema
00:38is the dermatitis of the hands,
00:41they call it dermatitis,
00:45and it is a pathology that collects inside it
00:50different cutaneous inflammatory paths
00:55caused by different etiologies
01:00and which also recognize different morphological aspects.
01:05So, with a single terminology, hand eczema,
01:09we collect differentiated clinical paths.
01:12An important part of hand eczema,
01:15which, according to updated estimates,
01:18collects up to two-thirds of all patients affected by hand eczema,
01:22are patients who are affected by chronic hand eczema,
01:30which is a pathology that is defined in this way
01:34when it lasts more than three consecutive months
01:37or when there are more than two recidives of the symptomatology
01:42within a year.
01:43Unlike acute form, which lasts less than three consecutive months.
01:49Certainly, chronic hand eczema has patient targets
01:55where the frequency is certainly higher than the general population
02:01and, according to fairly recent estimates,
02:05in fact, in large cases,
02:07the prevalence in the course of life
02:10can reach about 15% of the general population,
02:13with a prevalence in a year equal to 9%.
02:17In the context of these general prevalence values,
02:21there are certainly populations
02:24more predisposed to chronic hand eczema.
02:27An example for everyone are the so-called workers
02:31employed in the so-called wet professions,
02:35such as health workers,
02:38doctors, nurses, auxiliaries,
02:42but also an extremely common professional figure,
02:49that of housekeepers.
02:51Think, however, for example, that in health workers
02:54those data that we have previously said,
02:57that is, the prevalence in a year and the prevalence during the course of life,
03:01respectively reach 13% and over 30%,
03:06so they increase significantly in the presence of some risk factors
03:10very often related to the type of profession that is carried out
03:14and therefore, above all, to the possibility
03:17that the cuticle that covers the hands
03:20can be exposed to harmful noxious and exogenous factors
03:24that, in some way, also lead to the internal barrier of the cuticle.
03:29The quality of life of patients affected by chronic hand eczema
03:32is deeply altered in these patients,
03:35both in terms of their professional activities,
03:42but also in terms of managing their private,
03:47affective, family life and,
03:49even before the start of work activities,
03:52in the choice of profession.
