00:05brand-new McFarland toys McFarland toys digital DreamWorks Shrek
00:10Shrek goes on a quest to rescue the feisty princess Fiona with the help of
00:31his lovable donkey and win back the deed to a swamp from the scheming Lord fog
00:35wah straight from the swamp how about the first thing we do is we grab the
00:39tape measure and we see how tall the brand-new McFarland toys digital Shrek
00:42stands speaking of McFarland toys I'd like to thank the team there that did
00:45provide the sample we could have a look at Shrek's pretty tall he's actually
00:49standing at about 10 and 3 quarters of an inch in height or roughly 27
00:53centimeters tall so I wouldn't consider this so much a Shrek figure as he is a
00:57limited articulated statue we are also gonna be looking at in an upcoming
01:01review the dragon from Shrek speaking of dragons I did also want to bring in a
01:04couple of figures for comparison's sake because we don't have of course that
01:07other dragon looking at it yet I'm gonna bring in one of the dragons we got
01:10from Todd and his team one of the coolest dragons around also as well I
01:14want to bring in some slightly larger figures as well here's what the figure
01:16looks like with Cygore and just as well giving you guys an idea I'm sure we're
01:20probably gonna be getting some of the smaller figures as well maybe Lord
01:23Farquaad would be an awesome figure as well as Fiona but in the meantime as
01:27well every everybody has I'm sure a nightfall Batman here's what Shrek looks
01:30like along with him short offerings get packed along with this large ogre Shrek
01:34first of all does come clear with a display stand but then he also comes in
01:37with two cards one being just a regular card that does have him and don't get
01:41featured on the front nice image I like the look of that of course if you flip
01:44it around to the back his real name though if you didn't already know is
01:47Shrek and it gives a very small easy to digest read up also along with that too
01:54you get yourself a card a redemption code card from McFarland toys digital I
01:58haven't yet scratched this I figured I'd wait for the action the beginning of
02:01this review and show you guys if you wanted to redeem this for yourself you
02:04just go to www.mt I think that's MTD GG you probably see that a little bit
02:10better I can barely even see that a little bit better just simply go to that
02:13site and go to the redemption option and then what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna
02:16scrape across the top of this just with my knife just with McCutcheons here so
02:20you guys can see now if you are one that likes to use these codes by all means
02:26feel free take a good gander at that write that down if you want to I'm sure
02:30you probably could even freeze the screen as well let's move that off to
02:34the side the figure does also like I said and I I don't really want to say
02:37this necessarily as a figure again you'll see in a second he's very limited
02:40articulation a very large display stand though the stand does have McFarland
02:44toys printed across the front here nice and blue nice and white does have a peg
02:49that can plug into either one of his feet realistically Shrek doesn't even
02:53need the display stand if you don't really like the idea that this is gonna
02:55be taking a little bit more space I mean really it's about the same size of space
02:59as his shoulders anyways you could really do away with this altogether and
03:02the figure as you can see stands fine on his own but if let's just say for this
03:06make use of these pegs you just simply attach it onto the display base just get
03:11that onto his feet like that and now you got sort of a nicer way I think to
03:15present the figure on your shelf when we look at the dragon I'm sure we're
03:18probably gonna have a very similar style of stand for all we really know as well
03:22the dragon might not even have a stand but we're not gonna get too ahead of
03:25ourselves here so here's one thing though about Shrek I'm just gonna remove
03:28him right now I'm gonna put the base off to the side even though he does have
03:32really gripping hands the figure doesn't come in clue with any any accessories
03:35whatsoever here's where the limitations though come to Shrek now you may be
03:39looking at this and think yourself at the very least he probably would have
03:42though right like you could be able to rotate his head no no you can't well you
03:47might think okay well you probably can move his waist right no no you can't do
03:50that either the only thing that the figure has at his at his disposal is a
03:54swivel in his arms that's it you'll move it all the way around technically if you
03:58want and like these arms either don't hinge outward either I mean really all
04:03you can really do is just move them forward and back and he doesn't have
04:06hand articulation either if you go into that with that full idea in mind I don't
04:11think you'll be disappointed with Shrek now if you're going in this with the
04:14mindset that this should be a fully articulated version of Shrek then maybe
04:19disappointment will then follow along with that I think the head sculpt is
04:23fantastic though if you're a big fan of Shrek I think they've nicely captured
04:26the look of it originally it was gonna be done by Chris Farley I'm sure many of
04:30you guys already know that by now so you can really kind of see Chris Farley in
04:33the way that Shrek was designed of course Mike Myers then took over the
04:37role afterwards head sculpt looks really good though I can't help but really feel
04:40though that the way they've molded this they probably have done this in a
04:43translucent plastic there sort of is a little bit of translucency to it not that
04:47you would be able to really see my hand going behind it but it sort of has the
04:51kind of translucency kind of plastic look to it that makes any sense at all
04:55it's nicely painted of course you got the one eyebrow raised up and the other
04:58eyes sort of more in a neutral stance because he's also got no articulation
05:02for his head what they've done then instead is they've got his eyes kind of
05:05off to the side here instead of looking front and center so to give it a little
05:09more of a dynamic look you can actually put this guy in his display base like
05:12this instead of this so you can actually look like he's looking out this way kind
05:16of a side eye my daughter seems like to do side eyes as of late but nicely
05:20painted I mean I have no problems whatsoever with the way they painted the
05:23head you've got nice little spots there across the top of his head as well again
05:26not really anything in the way of articulation for this figure but I think
05:29he has it where he needs it the most of course he's got it does have his vest on
05:33there as well that's nicely been painted it kind of gives it the look that it
05:35looks like it's made of a like a leather material and of course he's got himself
05:39his burlap sack kind of tunic he has for the most part paint generally well done
05:44you can see as well like his nails painted decently I have one issue over
05:48here where it's like yeah it's this thumb that nail here that you can see
05:52some of the paint has bled around it it's not the cleanest but for the most
05:56part like no complaints at all with the paint other than just like that one
05:58little area there the pants look generally quite good of course he does
06:02also have his ogre shoes I probably probably not a good idea to get so close
06:05to his feet like this I don't think he's bathing himself that regularly and it
06:08has already mentioned the figure does have pegs on the bottoms of his feet I
06:11know we've already kind of covered the territory of this but again there's no
06:15articulation I was kind of even thinking for a second like maybe I just don't I
06:18haven't budged it yet but it doesn't even look like there's a cut line right
06:21there that would suggest the idea always looking right at us to looking right at
06:24us right now yeah but there's no cut line right here so there isn't any way
06:29to move the head whatsoever again you're only gonna have really just the arm
06:32swaying back and forth that's about all you can really do no hand articulation
06:36either as well and again like no waist articulation so like the figure is
06:39really again I would feel more in the category space of statues with just a
06:44little bit of posability rather than a fully articulated figure could they have
06:48found a way maybe perhaps to put articulation in the waist yes today
06:52maybe also done a way to put that also in the head sure the thing about that
06:55though is that you have to also consider this as well is licensing fees
07:00McFarlane and his team is no different than any other toy company on the market
07:03right now to acquire license let's say license a right here some licenses may
07:08be a little bit more expensive than others Dreamworks I would imagine is a
07:11pretty more heftier price to pay when it comes to licensing of getting the
07:14likenesses to the characters and that probably was the reasons why as well I
07:18don't think there's a large mass of collectors out there that are saying to
07:21themselves like I would love to get Shrek collectibles I would be a big fan
07:25of Shrek collectibles as you probably can already see in this review he's
07:28limited yes but I think he has to be limited for the reasons of more so the
07:32things that go along well along with them behind the scenes you have to pay
07:35for of course the likeness rights from the studio the company that's producing
07:39these characters in the first place because of that I would imagine that
07:42they probably offset some of the expenses with kind of downgrading some
07:46of the possibility that this guy ends up possessing what he has though instead is
07:49again only in the arms but I think what he gets instead though is a well
07:53sculpted likeness to Shrek of course when it comes to his accessories I don't
07:57know if you really would consider this necessarily an accessory but again he
08:00got he gets himself a display base I am looking forward though to getting open
08:03the the dragon we will be looking at that one in upcoming review dragons got
08:07a little bit more of assembly that's required because you're gonna have to
08:09put the wings and everything on that Shrek straight out of the box is one
08:11that could be displayed right away on the shelf is he limited on articulation
08:15I know I had already said this already yes does it make it any less of a figure
08:18not at all I think he's still as a well sculpted well painted piece and I'm
08:22happy finally began some Shrek collectibles from folks over at McFarland
08:25toys apologies by the way I kept referring to the other character as
08:28simply dragon we all know that dragon has name it's Elizabeth so Elizabeth the
08:33dragon her review will be actually coming up shortly just after Shrek here
08:36both of the figures do come include with display bases Elizabeth the dragon
08:40though a little bit more of an elaborate display base she comes with a grassy no
08:43is it a grassy no does have those Shrek featured on the front of it kind of
08:47weird though that Elizabeth which we'll be talking more about that when we look
08:50at the review of her does come with a little bit more of an interesting
08:53display display base while Shrek though is kind of a little more relegated just
08:57to a regular black display base no different really than some of the
09:00statues we've also gotten from Todd and his team could they've maybe included at
09:04least at the very least maybe some accessories yeah sure I mean it one
09:07thing too if they have to downgrade some of the articulation on this character
09:10maybe they could have just for that included a couple of accessories for
09:14something that from the hold in his hands whether we will though be getting
09:17Lord Fogwa maybe Fiona maybe even at the very least donkey I sure sure hope so
09:22cuz Shrek and Elizabeth Elizabeth the dragon I don't think is nearly enough
09:27for especially Shrek fans what do you guys think this statue let me know down
