The afternoon is overcast across the vast majority of the UK, with the cloud being thick enough in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland to produce a few spells of drizzle. Some brighter skies are expected for the southeast. The cloudy conditions persist into the evening, with some potential for fog in the southeast where the skies are clearer. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 04/11/24. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Alex Deakin.

00:00Hello welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. It's going to be a
00:03pretty cloudy week and for many it's going to be a dry week as well. We've got
00:08high pressure in control of our weather and at the moment that means this
00:13cloud that's sitting over us isn't really shifting too far. There are one or
00:17two breaks in the clouds just down to the southeast and of course parts of
00:20northern Scotland so some places seeing a little bit of blue sky but for most
00:24the color is definitely grey today and that cloud is thick enough for some
00:28drizzly conditions across parts of Northern Ireland and at times around the
00:32west coast of Scotland and over the hills here and there we'll see some
00:35pockets of drizzle too but for many it will just stay dry and drab and as a
00:41result temperatures pretty close to average this afternoon generally 10 or
00:4511 degrees Celsius maybe 12 perhaps 13 or 14 where we see a bit of sunshine
00:49coming through say in the southeast of England or parts of northern Scotland. As
00:53we go through the night not a great deal of change again some light drizzle here
00:57and there particularly over hills but maybe a few more breaks in the cloud
01:01across the southeast could allow things to turn foggy so that's something to
01:05watch out for first thing on Tuesday morning. There'll be some misty murky
01:09conditions over some of the higher routes elsewhere and again some drizzle
01:13over the hills but generally just dry and cloudy sums up the night as well.
01:17Temperatures dipping down just about into single figures where we keep some
01:20clearer skies say in northern Scotland and southeast England those temperatures
01:24could dip a little lower five or six degrees in some places maybe a touch
01:28lower in parts of Scotland as say if we do keep those clearer skies but the
01:32breeze will pick up a little tomorrow in the far northwest the winds perhaps a
01:35little lighter tomorrow across the southwest otherwise again it's mostly
01:40another just fairly cloudy day. Some breaks here and there are possible so
01:45again some spots seeing some sunshine probably a better chance of seeing some
01:48sunnier skies across the Murray Firth up towards the far north of Scotland
01:53maybe Orkney also seeing some sunshine so quite a pleasant day possible here
01:57whereas further west around these coasts a greater chance perhaps of seeing some
02:01light rain and drizzle at times but again nothing at all heavy and with some
02:06sunshine again 14-15 degrees where it stays cloudy 11 or 12. If that fog
02:11persists across the southeast the temperatures could really struggle here
02:15feeling quite pleasant in the sunny spells across northern Scotland but the
02:18breeze continuing to strengthen particularly Tuesday night across the
02:21far northwest and just hints here of a bit more in the way of rain just edging
02:26in towards the Outer Hebrides. Elsewhere again mostly just cloudy with some
02:31pockets of drizzle. High pressure is dominating this one is kind of edging
02:34away to the east but actually another air of high pressure builds in closer to
02:38the UK later this week keeping the weather fronts at bay. One of them does
02:43try and push in a little more and this one may well make some progress bringing
02:46a bit of rain into parts of the west on Friday but that's a few days away from
02:51most high pressure will dominate through this week there'll be a full
02:54week ahead forecast and I'll be recording that that'll be available on
02:58YouTube on Monday afternoon.
