00:00The Prime Minister's decision to welcome an apology by Najib Razak over the 1MDB scandal

00:12Jelutung MP R. S. N. Ryer said he admired Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's humility and

00:23He said this showed that Anwar is a great statesman despite his past hardship and persecution,
00:29referring to Anwar's imprisonment in 1999 and 2015.
00:33However, Ryer said he was afraid that the Rakyat may not forgive them if Najib's apology

00:41Yesterday, Anwar said he welcomed the apology made by Najib over the 1MDB scandal.
00:48Najib is currently serving a reduced six-year sentence following a pardon after he was convicted
00:53of misappropriating RM42 million in funds belonging to SRC International.
01:00Ryer also questioned if Najib's apology would undo the repercussions of the scandal, including
01:06the debt incurred by government-owned 1MDB, as well as the arrest of several political
01:11figures who protested against the scandal.
