00:00Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg has welcomed Najib Razak's apology over the 1MDB scandal,
00:08echoing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim who gave a similar response yesterday.
00:14According to Berita Harian, Abang Johari briefly commented on Najib's apology after an event
00:20at the Kuching Waterfront, saying,
00:23Yesterday, Anwar told reporters that he welcomed Najib's apology when asked to comment on it.
00:30However, DAP's Jelutong MP Ariss Enrayer today warned that the Prime Minister's decision
00:37to welcome the apology could spark public backlash.
00:41Najib is currently serving a reduced six-year sentence following a pardon after he was convicted
00:47of misappropriating RM42 million in funds belonging to former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.
00:56On Thursday, he said he had reflected on the 1MDB fiasco over the past 26 months
01:02and it pained him that it happened when he was the Prime Minister and Finance Minister.
