00:00In the face of the tension experienced by the Philippine Coast Guard in the waters of the Philippines,

00:08President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appraised the institution for its calmness in dealing with the so-called incidents.

00:15In celebrating the 123rd anniversary of the institution won by the President,

00:21he emphasized that the true strength of the PCG is proven not by being aggressive, but by good dialogue.

00:30You are the vigilant stewards of peace and order upon our seas,

00:35ensuring that the rule of law prevails across our waters.

00:39In the face of tension, it is your calm resolve that prevents disputes from turning into conflicts,

00:46demonstrating to the world that embracing dialogue and cooperation is the true essence of strength.

00:54This is manifested as well by our awardees to whom I express my gratitude and my deepest congratulations.

01:02At the same time, the President acknowledged the unparalleled role of the Philippine Coast Guard

01:06in protecting the territory of the Philippines in the face of more complicated challenges in the changing times.

01:12That is why the PCG is not just a simple force patrolling the waters of the country.

01:18Instead, its responsibility has expanded to patrol the borders,

01:24implement marine laws, and respond to calamities.

01:28Indeed, your emergence as a key player in our nation's maritime security reflects your commitment to service

01:36and exemplifies how to advance while remaining true to your core mission.

01:42You protect our maritime borders, standing resolute in the face of those who would exploit our resources or threaten our way of life.

01:51The contribution of the PCG is also important in implementing laws against illegal fishing

01:57and to prevent the destruction of the natural resources of the Philippines.

02:02It is good that the PCG is acting despite the high geopolitical tension,

02:08with the addition of isolation and dangers in the middle of the ocean.

02:11That is why the President emphasized that the PCG is not alone in implementing their mandate.

02:17This administration reaffirms its support to efforts that will improve your fleet and our air assets as well

02:24to maritime domain awareness, weapons capability, and necessary infrastructure development.

02:30This will boost your capacity to respond to any operations.

02:35Be assured, you are never alone in carrying the weight of this mission.

02:39The PCG also emphasized that it will maintain the integrity of the institution and will continue its service.

02:46It also thanked the Executive Board for the support it is giving to the Coast Guard.

02:51Our heartfelt gratitude for your unparalleled wisdom, your guidance and inspiring leadership,

02:58and hands-on support, including in the acceleration and expansion of our modernization programs

03:05in order for us not only to survive but to thrive in the age of AI and autonomous technology.

03:13President Marcos, along with First Lady Luis Araneta Marcos,

03:18wore his uniform as Vice Admiral of the PCG Auxiliary

03:23in recognition of the 14 Coast Guard personnel who did their duty.
