00:00The Development Bank of the Philippines assured support for those affected by the calamity.

00:12More than Php 100 million worth of land was left in the agriculture sector

00:18by the following typhoons Ferdie, Henner, and Helen.

00:22According to the Department of Agriculture,

00:24Php 1,600 hectares of rice, which is a high-value crop,

00:29were destroyed in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsulas.

00:34Php 1,300 farmers were also affected by the calamity.

00:39Our rice, corn, and vegetables were pre-positioned

00:46and our farmers are ready to plant again in these areas.

00:52Of course, our indemnification is under the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation.

00:58The DA assured the distribution of free rice, fat, and other uses for farming.

01:05The Development Bank of the Philippines assured support from the Agripuhunan and Pantawid Program of the agency.

01:13Under the program, farmers are given a chance

01:19to use up to two hectares of rice that the Puhunan has borrowed for farming.

01:24The first thing they do is go to the stores or distributors or merchants

01:31to get rice, fertilizer, and pesticides.

01:34When they start farming, they are given interest and loans.

01:41They will pay 15% to 20% interest monthly.

01:46We are looking for a program that will really help them.

01:49With the help of the Agripuhunan and Pantawid Program,

01:53the DVP receives an Interventions Monitoring Card with a credit limit of up to Php 60,000.

02:00Php 28,000 can be used to buy fertilizer, pesticides, and other farm inputs

02:08from the DVP's accredited stores.

02:11Farmers receive Php 8,000 monthly for four months.

02:17Farmers usually produce up to five to seven tons of rice

02:23to ensure that their families can buy enough rice whenever there is a calamity.

02:30Five tons of rice will be sold to the National Food Authority

02:36for less than Php 21 per kilo.

02:41Php 21 per kilo for five tons or Php 5,000, that is Php 105,000 per hectare.

02:50We reduced the credit we gave them to Php 60,000 per hectare.

02:56The difference is now Php 45,000.

02:59Php 45,000 is now their income.

03:02The program is now Php 8,000 per month for four months.

03:07That is Php 32,000.

03:09It's like you gave them an advance income.

03:11That is Php 77,000 net per hectare to our beloved farmers.

03:21If there is more rice, the farmers will surely earn more.

03:26Only 2% of the annual interest will be collected by the DVP.

03:31The farmers will receive insurance for their rice production.

03:35Farmers don't have to worry about that anymore.

03:39It is a game-changer.

03:41It is a real help to our beloved farmers.

03:46Php 3 billion was allocated to the program.

03:49At present, 50,000 farmers are the target to benefit from the DVP.

03:55The program was first launched in Gimba, Nueva Ecija.

03:59It will be expanded to Cordillera, Pangasinan, and other places in the Philippines.

04:05The DVP said that only one Interventions Monitoring Card is prohibited.

04:10The agency will conduct field monitoring.

04:14That is to ensure that the program is being used correctly.
