00:00Hey, what's up guys, MKBHD here.
00:05Welcome to the unboxing of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, all
00:14in their new green colors.
00:16So by the time you see this video, I will have been using the iPhone 11s for a couple
00:20of days, not quite long enough to give it my full review, but pretty close.
00:24So that's in the works and coming soon.
00:26But in the meantime, this is your first look at what comes in the box, which is actually
00:29different this time, and a sort of a second impressions at the phone itself.
00:33So first of all, the boxes, they are going back to different colored boxes again, which
00:38I dig.
00:39So iPhone 11s will have white boxes and iPhone 11 Pros will have matte black boxes.
00:45Last time we got this was, I believe, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, but both will have the colored
00:48logos and the colored text.
00:51So inside the box, again, classic phone up top.
00:54And interestingly, the phone only has that peel-off plastic on the front and not the
00:59back this time.
01:00I kind of thought this was maybe only because it's the matte phone, but even on the glossy
01:03iPhone 11, it has a plastic on just the front.
01:08Okay, so underneath the phones, they all come with that little packet with two white stickers
01:19in it.
01:20Again, no fancy colored stickers, just the white Apple stickers.
01:22And then there's the lightning earphones again.
01:25So nothing special, no AirPods included in the box or anything wild for the price, just
01:29the lightning earpods.
01:30And then beside that, finally, here's what's new.
01:33There's an included 18 watt USB type C fast charging brick in the box, and then a USB
01:39type C to lightning cable.
01:41So this is the new default iPhone charging solution, the brick and the cable that you'll
01:46start to see everywhere.
01:47Why not just go USB type C all the way to the phone?
01:50I don't know.
01:51It's supposed to be a lightning licensing thing, kind of stubborn, but there you have
01:55it.
01:56The iPhone 11, however, the non-pro still comes with the garbage, barely functional
02:01five watt USB-A to lightning charger in that box.
02:05Disappointing even if the phone is 700 bucks, but anyway, there you have it.
02:09That's the unboxing of the midnight green iPhone 11 pro and all its matte finish glory,
02:14the iPhone 11 pro max, and it's noticeably heavier self and the glossy iPhone 11 looking
02:21very familiar.
02:22Green is a new color for all these new phones.
02:25And for some reason, maybe I'm just not seeing it, but everyone seems to love the greens.
02:29And so, you know, taking a closer look at it here in person in the studio, it's solid.
02:32I definitely don't hate it, but I'd still personally go for the space gray.
02:36But now that we have the greens here, let's take a closer look at this color.
02:40And for those of you still debating, if you want to get this color or not, you'll see
02:44it.
02:45So with the midnight green of the iPhone 11 pro, I'd say it's slightly different from
02:49the green you see on the box.
02:51So the box kind of makes it look a little bit lighter, but it is in fact a bit more
02:54muted.
02:55Uh, in fact, if you put it on this color chart, you'd sort of expect it to be closest to this
02:59sort of military green.
03:01But as soon as you drop them next to each other, it's not matter of fact, it's actually
03:04closer to gray than green.
03:07Like it really is very subtle.
03:08And you do notice, even when it's not next to another green surface, that it is not quite
03:13gray.
03:14It's just a little bit off of gray.
03:16Sometimes white is off white.
03:17This is like an off gray version of that.
03:20It's somewhat close to the olive green of the MKBHD merch tag tee I'm wearing with just
03:25a slight tint.
03:27But overall it definitely falls on the spectrum of like this classic camo green or military
03:32green sort of colors.
03:33The colorway of these shoes is called shadow camo.
03:36So if you happen to own them, here's a little comparison on how they look next to each other.
03:40Not too far off.
03:41Uh, I don't know.
03:42Maybe I'm just not a green person.
03:43I saw some mockups on Twitter of like a light blue iPhone pro that would have been kind
03:48of sick or even a matte product red iPhone pro that I would have loved.
03:55You know, Apple, if you're listening, if you want to do a six month color refresh of the
03:58iPhone, please do a red, please.
04:01Honestly, the closest match I have in the studio, which actually kind of blew my mind
04:05even closer than the actual box is this Ottoman footrest thing.
04:10It's basically the exact same color as the iPhone.
04:13Like it's precisely the same color.
04:15So there you have it.
04:16The more, you know, and then there is the iPhone 11 are much more familiar looking phone.
04:20So there's six new colors for the iPhone 11.
04:22This is one of them, and this is, it's definitely more of like a seafoam green or even like
04:27a minty green.
04:28Matter of fact, let's look up what Apple actually calls it.
04:31Let's see here.
04:33Go to iPhone, go to pre-orders, and then colors, green.
04:40They just call it green.
04:41So that's a pretty basic name, but I guess we'll compare it to other blue green types
04:45of things in the area.
04:47The aqua colors.
04:48This phone color along with the new purple and yellow iPhones have way less everyday
04:53objects that are close to it in terms of color.
04:55But I'd say that they're more like pastel-y in color, similar to the corner of this color
04:59chart.
05:00You'll notice the Apple logo color on the badges at the event this year were aqua green
05:05colored.
05:06And that's a little darker than the phone as you can see, but I would have been really
05:08happy with the darker aqua as the iPhone color.
05:11I actually think it's a throwback to when Apple had that color in its logo and when
05:15they also had that old classic iMac with that back color, the clear plastic having that
05:21aqua green.
05:22Here are some other greenish phones that have existed over the past couple of years, including
05:27the rare Nextbit Robin and the green half of the bikini case on the Galaxy S8 Plus.
05:32You know, all just a little bit different shades of aqua green.
05:35But ultimately the iPhone 11 box is the closest to the actual color of the phone.
05:40So if you see the box in the store or anywhere, you've seen basically the correct color.
05:44There's a lot of different combinations of blue and green colors used in phones over
05:48the past couple of years, but there you have it.
