00:00It's another camera vlog test, and this time around, we're shooting with the Huawei Nova 9.
00:05Good day, you beautiful people.
00:11Welcome to Issa Does Tech, where we do tech in your life, in style.
00:15Like I said, we're testing out cameras of another phone today.
00:18This is the Huawei Nova 9, and this is Huawei's latest mid-range device.
00:22But Huawei claims that camera performance on this phone is similar to the P or Mate series,
00:28which, if you follow Huawei phones, means that these cameras are flagship-level cameras.
00:33Before we start, though, let's look at this phone a little more closely.
00:58Now, I really love how this phone looks and feels.
01:14This is the starry blue color I have here.
01:17It just looks so nice and shiny.
01:20That curved 120Hz display just looks so good.
01:24And personally, I'd still pick a curved display done right over any flat display.
01:30Right, so today's stars are these cameras.
01:33We're looking at a 50MP RYYB camera on the back there, and I'll get to what RYYB means in a bit.
01:41It also has an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro camera.
01:49Up front, that's a 32MP selfie shooter.
01:53Before we move on, what is the deal with this RYYB camera technology?
01:57Are you ready?
01:58Very, very, very simply.
02:01Basically, cameras use an actual filter on the camera sensor itself to add color to photos.
02:07Yes, including the camera in your smartphone.
02:09Now, I'm not gonna go through the whole explanation of how this works,
02:12but the main point here is that since they are filters, they still block out certain light.
02:17The thing with RYYB tech is that it supposedly lets in 40% more light,
02:22so this means that you can get better low-light images.
02:25Now, this isn't the first time we've seen RYYB tech on smartphones.
02:28We've seen them before on Huawei P and Mate phones, which we all know did very well in low light.
02:34And that's why Huawei is claiming that the cameras on the Nova 9 are flagship level.
02:40Of course, that's only how it works in a nutshell.
02:42There are certain nuances to this whole technology that I won't be able to discuss in this one video
02:48because after all, we're just testing out the cameras.
02:50That's the general idea of it.
02:51And if you're curious about this tech, I will link down below certain articles that you can read up on.
02:57Now, on paper, this all seems very, very impressive.
03:00But just how do these cameras compare in real life?
03:03We'll see.
03:04Let's go.
03:06So there's a front-facing camera of the Nova 9 right now, and we're shooting with 1080p.
03:11But you can also shoot in 4K, and this is 4K footage you're watching right now.
03:18Back to 1080p, and there are beauty modes.
03:21As you can see, I turned it on, but it's very, very light.
03:24I've toggled it to just a number 2, but you can do it up until number 10.
03:29There's also smart EIS on the front-facing camera, which is perfect for people who want to vlog,
03:34want to walk and talk, like, you know, we all do.
03:37And this is what that looks like.
03:42So one cool thing that this camera can do, so right now I'm shooting in 4K,
03:46and then switch to the rear camera without pausing my recording, switch back.
03:54So I really like this feature, and the first time I saw that it could do this,
03:58I freaked out and caught it on video.
04:04There's also vlog mode, which allows for these cool effects.
04:08You can do front and rear at the same time.
04:11You can do both rear and rear at the same time.
04:14And you can even do picture-in-picture.
04:16Hi!
04:17And this is what that looks like.
04:21Hi!
04:25Hi, Bruce!
04:28I like how my selfies came out, and that 32MP front-facing camera really did give.
04:34And then, of course, there's a beauty mode, and you can turn that off,
04:37or you can switch around the different settings.
04:41So this is without the beauty mode.
04:43This is at maximum beauty mode, which I would never recommend.
04:47Personally, I just do a very, very slight beauty mode, like on 1 or 2,
04:52and voila, you have a fresher but still true-to-self photo of yourself.
04:58There's a portrait mode and different portrait effects,
05:00but my favorite is the slow shutter effect,
05:03which I know is really supposed to be for when your background is moving
05:07and the subject is still.
05:09But I decided to make that photo happen,
05:12and I feel like they came out well,
05:14despite me just spinning around and trying to get that shot.
05:24Shooting with the rear cameras right now.
05:26So this is 1080p, and this is wide.
05:30We can do—ah, wait.
05:33Okay, wide.
05:35Guys, wait.
05:38This is 1x, and you can do up until 6x.
05:44This is 6x right now.
05:50Back to wide.
05:51This time around, we're shooting in 4K.
05:53This is wide, and you can zoom up until 6x.
06:05♪
06:08♪
06:11♪
06:33This is what walking and shooting looks like,
06:36featuring the dogs.
06:38This is handheld panning.
06:41I don't know what Miski's doing here,
06:44but you get the idea.
06:47And this is what the stabilization looks like.
06:50Hi!
06:53Hi, Bruce!
06:55♪
07:25♪
07:40All right, let's test low-light capabilities now.
07:42Alexa, turn bedroom light off.
07:50This is where we're shooting.
07:52And what's crazy to me is that despite that one lamp,
07:55this is what normal photos look like.
07:58That's the RYYB tech working for you.
08:01This is the lighting we're at right now.
08:03Ooh, that's the automatic flash.
08:06But yeah, this is the lighting we're at right now,
08:08and the selfies on night mode, truly amazing.
08:14Let's turn this off.
08:17♪
08:20There's, like, no light on,
08:22so that previous shot,
08:24it was with just a little bit of light from the windows.
08:28Now, I'm gonna take some sample shots
08:31with these, like, really dark shelves.
08:34Let's see how this looks.
08:36♪
08:42This phone packs 4,300 mAh battery,
08:45and I started the day with 92% at 11.09 a.m.,
08:49and ended it with 14% at 11.06 p.m.
08:53At 9.44 a.m. the next morning,
08:55I still had 5% left.
08:58Huawei also claims 0 to 100 charging
09:01in all but 38 minutes.
09:03Of course, I haven't really been able to test it out,
09:06but do let me know if this is something
09:08you'd wanna see in another video.
09:11One thing you need to know about this device
09:14is that it runs on Huawei Mobile Services,
09:16meaning you get your apps from the Huawei App Gallery.
09:19All you need to do is go to the Huawei App Gallery,
09:22and this is where you can download all your apps.
09:25And this has grown so much
09:27from when Huawei first launched this.
09:30From here, I downloaded TikTok,
09:32CapCut, Canva, and Meitu,
09:35all for editing all the stuff I've taken with this phone.
09:39And speaking of another app that you can use
09:41to edit all your photos and videos,
09:43you can check out Petal Cut.
09:45Basically, it allows you to edit your videos
09:47really fast and easily.
09:49And there are even templates
09:51for whatever type of video you'd want.
09:57If you can't find the app that you need
09:59on the Huawei App Gallery,
10:00all you need to do is go to Petal Search,
10:02and then for example,
10:05Facebook Messenger,
10:07and all the results will show up down here.
10:13That's it for today's video, you guys.
10:15Let me know what you think about the cameras
10:17of the Huawei Nova 9.
10:19Comment down below.
10:21As of posting this video,
10:22I still have no details on pricing
10:24and availability of this phone,
10:26but once I do,
10:27I'll add all the details in the description box.
10:30If you want to see how I use my tech on a daily basis,
10:32find me online.
10:33That's isa.doz__ on Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
