00:00what's up guys we're gonna be doing a quick little roundup of the comparisons
00:04that I've been doing on the channel so I've been doing a lot of galaxy s23
00:09ultra comparisons so if you guys want to go ahead and check out these comparisons
00:14more in-depth see the side-by-side camera test I've been doing them a lot
00:18and I want to go ahead and just sort of sum up everything because I know
00:21everybody's not gonna watch each and every one they're not gonna watch the
00:24whole thing so I just wanted to make a video where you can see it all in one
00:28spot and basically get the gist of you know what I'm saying here with these
00:33phones compared to the s23 ultra so we got the s22 ultra s21 ultra the note 20
00:39ultra the s20 plus and the note 10 plus these are most commonly you know asked
00:44questions about should I upgrade should I not upgrade what's the main pros and
00:48cons I'm gonna try to get into it and try to cover the basics for you guys
00:53alright so one of the most important things that I like to start off with is
00:57let's say you don't have either of these phones like you're not upgrading
01:01let's start with the price so the s23 ultra it starts off at $1,200 you know
01:06without any trade-ins or anything like that s23 ultra I can see this phone
01:10coming down in price to about $900 if not $800 the s21 ultra one of my
01:16favorite phones of this year as far as price to spec ratio just for the value
01:21around 400 bucks and these are prices in the USA guys note 20 ultra this phone
01:27is still hovering around that 350 price range the s20 ultra you can find
01:32extremely cheap again around like 300 buck and the note 10 plus is coming down
01:36in price this one is getting closer to around 250 bucks as well too I would you
01:41know you can pretty much bank on it coming to 250 this year alright so let's
01:46talk about the overall design here so the galaxy s-series moved to the note
01:52design pretty much Samsung pretty much meshed the s-series and the note
01:56together and now we have basically a note phone right so if you're coming
02:00from a galaxy s20 ultra or s21 you will notice a much different feel in the hand
02:09and that's one thing I try to emphasize a lot if you have smaller hands like me
02:13and these are some big massive phones you know 6.9 6.8 inches right big phones
02:19big difference the s21 ultra even though it's a big phone it's way more easier to
02:25hold right it's not as boxy and it's just more comfortable and again if you
02:30have bigger hands this is probably not a big issue but I noticed for me way
02:34easier to hold not as sharp is just more comfortable you can see the s23 ultra
02:39it's just a little more boxy wider and kind of cuts into the palm a little bit
02:43so it's not as comfortable that's one of the things I keep emphasizing also the
02:48design language on here has pretty much the design language so right so the s22
02:55ultra you can see didn't change much s21 ultra here you can see big emphasis on
03:02the camera design here it's got a more it's actually got like a cutout for the
03:07camera you guys can see that and Samsung got rid of that and you can sort of see
03:12it with the note 20 ultra as well too you can see and then the s20 ultra again
03:19a lot of people consider this the more dated looking phone and then what's
03:24funny is that the note 10 plus even though it's the oldest phone here but
03:28one of the oldest phones here it has aged really well it still looks
03:31extremely good especially from the front it looks pretty much identical to the
03:36newer phones right so that's something that I've always really liked this phone
03:40had it I think a futuristic design when it first came out
03:42Samsung never bought this aura glow color back which is really cool it
03:46always catches people's eyes when you're outdoors so this is very cool to look at
03:51but all these phones are ip68 dust and water resistant so all these phones are
03:56ip68 dust and water resistant all of them are glass and metal phones there
04:01are some big hardware differences here so with the older phones the note 10
04:05plus the s20 ultra and the note 20 ultra these phones have SD card support so they
04:12have expandable storage right with the newer phones s21 ultra and up these
04:18phones do not have expandable storage so that's definitely one thing you should
04:22know for people who take a lot of video on their phone want to store a lot of
04:25stuff on their phone you're going to miss out on the SD card support so
04:29that's definitely one thing to take into consideration there also guys the phones
04:34that don't have the built-in stylus would be the s21 ultra and the s20
04:39ultra these phones don't have a built-in stylus but the s21 ultra does have
04:44stylus support so you can actually use the stylus you just have to buy you know
04:48the pen in the case so I do get this question a lot and that is about the s
04:52pen accuracy so if you compare the s pen the s23 ultra s22 ultra basically the
05:01newer ones right I get questions do the newer ones feel more accurate than the
05:07older ones and it really comes down to how much you use the pen because I don't
05:13do digital artwork they kind of feel all the same to me right the s23 ultra
05:20it feels a little bit smoother simply because I think it's got 120 Hertz so
05:24like note 10 plus doesn't have 120 Hertz so that's why it doesn't feel like as
05:28smooth but it's still pretty smooth guys so again I don't do digital artwork I
05:34just use it to jot down notes but they basically have all the same features
05:38that you will find on a note 10 plus you will find on the s23 ultra but like I
05:42said they don't really feel too much different to me but like I said somebody
05:45that does digital artwork might say otherwise you know but to me the average
05:50person if you're not doing digital artwork it feels just as accurate just
05:53as smooth and fast I said the only difference you would honestly notice is
05:57you know the 120 Hertz our guys I'm a big display person I look at content all
06:03day on my phones and Samsung honestly makes some of the best displays how do
06:07we know that because even their older phones are still on par with the newer
06:11ones so Samsung is so good at making displays it's absolutely incredible here
06:16so basically if you're coming from an older phone what are the major upgrades
06:20from you know the newer lineup right so really there's not a big jump when it
06:25comes to resolution all of these phones are capable of 1440p they all have very
06:30high PPI's and you can see a slight difference here with the s20 and the s21
06:36is that they basically have they don't have that boxy look that the other
06:40phones have so that's just a personal preference they all have the punch hole
06:45they're all dynamic AMOLED HDR 10 plus all these phones are capable of doing
06:49120 Hertz except for the note 10 plus now here's the difference or here's the
06:55display upgrade the s23 ultra has the brightest display here at 1750 nits peak
07:01brightness it gets extremely bright outdoors it's really easy to see in
07:05direct sunlight the rest of the phones are still pretty bright but again the s
07:0923 ultra it's noticeably better in that area also with the older phones like the
07:14s20 ultra and the note 20 ultra these two phones here can only do 120 Hertz at
07:201080p it can't do the 120 Hertz at 1440p like these three phones can that's very
07:27important to know here now the note 10 plus is running at 60 Hertz so again I
07:31guess technically again does have the most dated display here but as you can
07:35see it pretty much looks still on par with these phones design wise and like I
07:39said spec wise still 1440p still beautiful display here so that just goes
07:44to show how well Samsung has done with the display design here but like I said
07:49the big upgrade with these newer phones 120 Hertz at 1440p and then it's
07:57slightly brighter right so and it's really the s23 and the s22 ultra these
08:02are slightly brighter displays than these phones in direct sunlight so
08:06that's one thing that you notice but other than that man it's not a big deal
08:10I just have to do this here so you guys can see man just beautiful displays and
08:14like I said if you've never tried 120 Hertz and you're coming from like a note
08:1910 plus or an older phone like a s10 series phone um basically I would say
08:24going to Best Buy and just check it out see if it's something that's worth
08:27spending the money to upgrade me personally I I think it is 120 Hertz
08:32once you try it it's extremely hard to go back to 60 Hertz like I said it's not
08:37something you necessarily mean because if you have a phone that's smooth like
08:40you know 10 plus with 60 Hertz it's not something that you're gonna be like
08:43tripping about it's more like a luxury feature right so I would say test it out
08:47see if it wows you if it doesn't it's not really you know I wouldn't worry
08:52about it alright so let's go ahead and get into the technical specs here this
08:56shocks a lot of people when I say this but even going back as far as the note
09:0110 plus snapdragon 855 all the way compared to an s23 ultra for the average
09:08person it is not that big of a speed upgrade in terms of how you would use
09:13your phone you know on the daily base as far as coming in and out of
09:18applications and just overall animation smoothness the note 10 plus is nowhere
09:24near a laggy phone that surprises a lot of people because look how many you know
09:28look at the big score jumps here and I'll pan over to the single core now
09:32yes the galaxy s23 ultra s22 ultra the newer phones they're gonna do a
09:37fantastic job in getting into things extremely quick right but it's not like
09:41it's that much quicker they'll do better with if you're a heavier gamer it'll do
09:46much better with that like long periods hours of gaming if you're not a heavy
09:50gamer just casual gamer subway surfer temple run stuff like that you play a
09:54little call of duty here and there I have a full gaming test for the proof
09:57the note 10 plus still excellent device when it comes to that but again as you
10:02can see big score jump when it comes to the Geekbench scores and all of these
10:06are snapdragon phones so snapdragon 855 this one 865 865 on the note and then
10:13we have the triple 8 and then we have the agent 1 and the agent 2 made for
10:20Samsung so this one's slightly Samsung overclocked the so when it says for
10:24galaxy it's just slightly overclocked alright so just to touch on the gaming
10:28experience a little bit more here so we got pub G on all of these devices and
10:33what's funny is that and this always surprises people but the older phones
10:36just for this phone this case in general right s20 ultra the older phones can
10:41play pub G at 90 frames right which is pretty funny so it for some reason the
10:46newer ones can't they can play they play pub G really well but they can only do
10:51it at HDR extreme they they can't do it at the 90 frames I don't know it's
10:56because they're just not optimized optimizing it anymore but I always thought
11:01that was kind of strange but even the galaxy note I mean the note 10 plus right
11:05is able to play pub G smoothly at HDR extreme here so the gaming experience on
11:13these older flagship and that's one thing I always like to beat over
11:16people's heads is that you can buy a two three hundred dollar phone $400 phone
11:21and play games just as good as a $1,200 phone now obviously for long periods of
11:27gaming something like the note 10 plus it's not gonna beat out an s23 ultra in
11:31terms of being able to keep consistent frame rates for a long long time like
11:35when the device starts to get a little hot stuff like that but I'm telling you
11:39for the casual gamer that just wants to get a couple games in these older
11:42flagships are extremely good even the s20 ultra one of my favorite phones
11:46because it's got the snapdragon 865 doesn't really get as hot when gaming
11:50and also here this one plays at 90 frames as well to the a 65 extremely
11:57efficient so like I said not a massive difference when it comes to gaming
12:02performance for the average person now if I was somebody that was a hardcore
12:06gamer without I don't want you know obviously I don't want like the maximum
12:10GPU power of these newer phones right but you really don't need to upgrade if
12:15you have an older phone and you're not a massive gamer cuz just like we saw with
12:20animations and speed and all that stuff it's not like a massive difference like
12:25just to show you guys even if we put let's say note 10 plus just in an app
12:34comparison you guys will see how close it actually is so go ahead launch so we
12:39start from on both just to show you guys right see s23 ultra boom but the note 10
12:46plus is right behind it and it's basically the same thing if not a little
12:51bit faster on these other devices so it's not like you're getting a massive
12:55jump when it comes to the overall performance and just overall smoothness
13:01of these devices alright so here is a very big thing that sways a lot of
13:07people to upgrade and you guys can let me know what you guys think about this
13:10in the comments down below the note 10 plus is done with major OS updates as
13:15last update was Android 12 when you are 4.1 it's currently getting security
13:20patches I think it's got like two years of security patches these s20 ultra it's
13:24the same thing but this phone last update Android 13 it gets three years of
13:29security patches you know 20 ultra again same thing it's gonna get three years of
13:34security patches surprisingly the s21 ultra has a very long lifespan so that's
13:39why I really like recommending this phone not only does have a few more
13:43major OS updates right but it also has five years of security patches guys you
13:48can keep this phone for a very very long time it's the same thing with the
13:52s22 ultra again not again not really a big difference it's pretty much on the
13:56same software cycle as the s23 ultra so that's a big thing guys so a lot of
14:02people if you're not okay with having a phone that's not gonna get the latest
14:06Android when it comes out Android 14 or whatever you're not okay with getting
14:11security patches then yes definitely go ahead spend the money to upgrade if
14:16you're somebody that really cares about having the latest software features and
14:19also talking about software features there's almost nothing that these older
14:24phones have that the newer ones don't like they have pretty much everything so
14:29Samsung desktop support is only here reverse wireless charging NFC pretty
14:36much all those features are on here right all the S Pen features pretty much
14:40the same as well too so you're not really getting anything new software
14:44wise but again let's keep that into consideration alright guys so all these
14:49phones have pretty good speakers so let's go ahead they're all max volume
14:53let's go ahead and compare them Samsung did a pretty good job upgrading the
14:56speaker on the s23 ultra so let's go ahead and hear if we can spot the
15:00difference with all of these phones so we'll start the s23 on down
15:14one thing that you will notice immediately the s22 ultra I think
15:34personally has some of the worst speakers that Samsung ever put and any
15:37other phones it sounds completely flat compared to the s23 ultra it's not even
15:42funny it's completely garbage alright so s21
16:00definitely better than the s22 ultra nowhere near as loud as the s23 ultra
16:06let's do the note
16:21pretty much the same as the s21 ultra s20 ultra
16:36okay pretty much the same again
16:59again so somewhat the same here so all these phones have excellent speakers
17:04like I said with the s22 ultra being the worst it noticeably just has no just
17:09not a lot of bass it just doesn't sound full compared to the rest of the phones
17:12the s23 ultra does have the best speaker here it is noticeably louder and the
17:17bass is just heavier it just sounds like a fuller speaker so I'm really happy
17:21that Samsung made that move because they really wasn't wasn't touching the
17:23speaker over the years you really notice just minor differences and stuff like
17:27that but s22 ultra I was like whoa that's bad but I'm glad that they fixed
17:32that alright so let's talk about the cameras so this is a big deal because a
17:37lot of people take a lot of pictures I usually don't personally take a ton of
17:41pictures so cameras aren't usually high up on my list but a lot of people do and
17:47I want to go ahead and just talk about what I noticed here so obviously if you
17:51want the most spec'd out featured camera the 200 megapixels hundred times zoom
17:55all that good stuff and obviously you're gonna always upgrade to the new one
17:59right what I noticed between the older phones and the newer phones is that
18:03these newer phones do much better job in low-light conditions so if you're like
18:10taking pictures indoors and stuff like that where there's not a ton of light
18:13all these phones actually do a fantastic job outdoors it just you really notice
18:17the difference indoors right any type of lower light situation that's what I will
18:23say is that these phones do great in low light you find yourself taking a lot of
18:26low-light photos these phones are excellent for that but like I said
18:30outdoors not a big deal now if you find yourself taking a lot of zoom shots so
18:36this is what Samsung really sells people on right the s22 s23 in the s21 these do
18:44a fantastic job of taking zoom shots these go up to a hundred times zoom I'll
18:50take a picture of the moon with these phones came out fantastic if you're at
18:54sporting events and you just need to zoom in or something like that these are
18:57excellent for that the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra still takes pretty good zoom shots
19:01but the quality of the zoom shots on these three devices are much better the
19:07Note 10 plus like I said it can't zoom as much as these it goes up to 2x and
19:11then this is a digital zoom up to 10 times the S20 Ultra also does the
19:16hundred times zoom but the S20 Ultra it does sometimes can have some focusing
19:21problems and like I said the zoom shots aren't as good but the Note 20 Ultra
19:26does have a 50 times hyper zoom but like I said if you're somebody that really
19:29likes to zoom and that's your thing the newer phones are definitely pretty good
19:33for that also these phones have very high resolution cameras as well too you
19:38got 108 megapixel lens on these phones which is absolutely nuts so if you you
19:44know come here and toggle the 108 megapixel on these all take some very
19:48detailed shots especially when you're outdoors if you need to crop into photos
19:52you do that a lot you'll really like the upgrade especially coming from like a
19:56S10 or a Note 10 or something like that if you don't find yourself doing all the
20:00advanced camera stuff you probably don't need to upgrade right overall video
20:04quality is better from what I noticed from the older phones to the newer
20:08phones um it really just depends on how many photos you take because like I said
20:12a Note 10 plus will take great photos still in good lighting conditions but
20:17like I said it really comes down to the zoom capabilities and stuff like that
20:21like I said it's just the older phones just do a really good job still but like
20:26I said you have to be somebody that takes a lot of photos to appreciate the
20:30cameras in these newer phones the zoom the 8k 4k video all that good stuff um
20:36it's just gonna be if you take a lot of photos and stuff you'll enjoy the
20:41upgrade you'll feel like you got your money's worth if you don't I would just
20:44hold on to my older phone because there's no point you don't take a lot
20:47of zoom shots you don't record a lot of video you know you're not doing advanced
20:51camera stuff on your phone so it doesn't really matter right if you're doing
20:55content creation obviously you want to go in a newer phone right you want to
20:58start doing tick tocks and stuff like that yeah that makes sense if you're
21:02just casually out take a shot you don't need to really upgrade because there's
21:06not there's not a massive enough difference in my opinion all right
21:10lastly I want to touch on the battery life so this is where the s23 ultra
21:15starts to shine it has fantastic battery really really good battery noticeably
21:22better than all of these phones noticeably better standby than all of
21:26these phones that this is actually I think a major upgrade when I did a
21:30battery drain test pretty much all of these phones get around six hours of
21:34screen on time for me this phone easily goes two days so Samsung just did
21:40excellent job with this phone when it comes to battery life I was extremely
21:44impressed with battery performance on here so if you're somebody that really
21:50needs a phone to last a long time the s23 ultra has been extremely impressive
21:55but like I said even the s22 ultra it does a decent job all these phones do
21:58still a decent job but I can typically only get around six hours with these
22:02phones this phone noticeably better screen on time not only that but
22:06standby time excellent so they all have again wireless charging reverse
22:12wireless charging they all charge decently fast as well too um so I just
22:18think it comes down to those pros and cons guys so be sure to let me know what
22:22do you guys think if you upgrade it tell me why you upgrade if you did not
22:26upgrade tell me why you did not decide to upgrade and yeah so let me know and
22:31I'll catch you guys in the next one
