00:00A Chinese national who was a victim of torture in a house in Tagaytay City was arrested by the NBI during the last NBI operation.

00:09Some Chinese nationals were also arrested in the same house due to illegal scamming activity.

00:16Rod Laguzad has the details.

00:18Cybercrime Division, Special Task Force, and Human Trafficking Division of the National Bureau of Investigation of Tagaytay City interviewed the men.

00:34They asked them to rescue a Chinese national who was a victim of torture.

00:38They were able to reach the place where his friend, who is also Chinese, was arrested.

00:42The victim was quickly seen inside the house.

00:45In this scene, we can see that the victim is in a bad condition.

00:48His back is also full of blisters.

00:50According to the NBI, they were able to make a video of him asking for help.

00:54But the rescue operation was delayed in order to discover the illegal activity in the other room.

01:01We were surprised to see these suspects behind their respective computers and conducting scamming activities.

01:18So, our raid went there.

01:23This is where the NBI arrested the 17 Chinese nationals.

01:27The NBI also found out that the victim wanted to escape from the group.

01:30He was positive about the torture.

01:33For now, this is the first group that was arrested last Friday.

01:36According to the NBI, this is also because of a big POGO operation that was formed by a small group.

01:42They were engaged in many activities like crypto scam, investment scam, catfishing, roman scam.

01:54We found out different scripts.

01:56These scripts were used to lure their victims.

02:02The usual method of their operations is within the field.

02:06But their targeted victims are outside the jurisdiction of the Philippines.

02:10According to the NBI, there is a possibility that the group was involved in a hacking activity.

02:14Based on their initial investigation, the group has only been operating for two months.

02:20The stolen cellphones of the suspects are likely to be entered by the scammed money.

02:25The Chinese were not shown any documents.

02:28The three victims who were injured by the group are facing a case of qualified human trafficking.

02:33All of them are facing a violation of the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act.
