00:00Hello, welcome to some TH Two Minute Tuning.
00:10Let's make that up now.
00:12So what we're going to do is put a rear strut mount reinforcement plate on.
00:18Now, this you can get at Bimium.com or Turner Motorsports, there's a couple of different
00:25companies that make them, it's literally just a piece of metal, and what it's designed to
00:28do is reinforce the upper strut mount in the back of your car, because this is a potentially
00:35weak point.
00:36And if you do something like coilovers, or a stiffer rear shock, or you lower the car,
00:42you put a lot of stress on this section of the unit body here, okay?
00:45So this is just a reinforcement plate, super easy to install.
00:49Now take the stuff out of your trunk.
00:52This guy right here comes out.
00:54Now I just used force and anger to remove it, but you could probably remove that light
01:00fixture there, and then it would pop out, kind of pull it out out of the way, okay?
01:13And you get access back there.
01:14Now, there's a piece of insulation in this wheel well here, which I've removed because
01:18mine was rotted and ripped.
01:20So you'll probably need to pull that out and be careful with it, because if you want to
01:23keep it, if your car is as old as mine, it's probably going to rip, okay?
01:26It's pretty sensitive stuff.
01:27Now once you get this out of the way, just put something in front of it so it stays there.
01:36Here's a jack.
01:39Okay.
01:40So these bolts come off.
01:43I'm going to put this in a spot where we can all see.
01:45I'm being sloppy right now, I'll be honest.
01:48These bolts come off, okay?
01:50They are a 13 millimeter, they come off.
01:53This plate goes over top, okay?
01:58Put the screws on and torque them down, okay?
02:02There's probably a torque spec for this, but honestly, I didn't do it.
02:05You can look it up.
02:09I just did it until they were snug, didn't move on it.
02:12That's kind of the name of the game usually, right?
02:16Looks like the plate deforms a little bit, so tighten it until you see the plate deform.
02:21And maybe check it after a little while, actually.
02:24Make sure it's still tight, okay?
02:30And once we're on, that's about all you need to do, and you have protected the rear strut
02:38mounts for a pretty cheap price and five minutes of your time, okay?
