The Five Ways Inn, Gornal, has a new couple running it, and it's a gem of a traditional Black Country Pub, complete with Bathams Ale. We meet them to find out more.

00:21So if people haven't been to the Five Ways Inn, just tell us about it.
00:25Well, it's a local friendly pub, local beers and obviously foreign beers.
00:33You'll have a friendly atmosphere, singers, food.
00:37Do you have entertainment on then?
00:39There's going to be entertainment on as well, yeah.
00:41And what sort of food is it going to be?
00:43Just basic point of points, paninis and things like that.
00:45In the next coming months.

00:49Dog friendly.
00:51Yeah.
00:53And what's this loyalty card I see a sign for?
00:55What's all that about?
00:57Yes, you get ten pence back in the pound.

01:01And then you save it up.
01:03As and when you want it.
01:05So what was it that made you want to take on a pub then?
01:09I don't know.
01:11I think we was asked.
01:13We used the pub.
01:15We were customers.
01:17We was asked to give it a try.
01:19Never done it before.
01:21And you thought, I fancy a new challenge.
01:23And we're from Bournemouth.
01:25So it's nice to keep the pubs open really.
01:27Because it was on the verge of shutting.
01:29So we decided to take it on.
01:31So you've literally only just took over, haven't you?
01:33Yeah.
01:35Just over a week, yeah.
01:37So you're up and running?
01:39Fully up and running, yeah.
01:41And how have you been finding it then?
01:43Kind of been the opposite side of it?
01:45I did work here before, last year.
01:47For a few hours.
01:49To help the last manager out.
01:51It's a lot harder.
01:53When you're coming into Cleve.
01:55It's a nice thing.
01:57Trying to build the business up.

02:01It's got that proper nice, the old charm of a proper pub, hasn't it?
02:03Which sadly, we're losing a lot, isn't it really?

02:25We've had all new seating.
02:27Seating put in on the back and the front.

02:31And if people aren't massively familiar,
02:33it's the junction just down from Imly Hall, isn't it?
02:35Opposite the old Bull's Head pub.
02:37That's where you are.
02:39It also goes down as the Widders.
02:41I don't know why that is,
02:43but a lot of people know it as the Widders.
