00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. thanked the President of the United Arab Emirates

00:05after pardoning some Filipinos who were imprisoned there.

00:13143 Filipinos were pardoned in the United Arab Emirates.

00:19That was confirmed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

00:23following his conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

00:27That's why the President thanked the Emirati government

00:30following this action.

00:32He is confident that he will be able to give it to the families of the Filipinos.

00:36The President did not give additional details regarding the pardon.

00:41But according to the Foreign Affairs Department Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega,

00:45the pardon was granted during the celebration of Idil Adha this June.

00:49And it was only in August that it was announced in the Philippines,

00:53which was approved by the government.

00:55De Vega also added,

00:56these are not major punishments like death penalty cases,

01:00but minor offenses only.

01:02The President also thanked the UAE for its assistance in the country,

01:05especially during the time of calamity.

01:07He particularly acknowledged the humanitarian work of the country

01:11for those affected by the typhoon and floods.

01:15The two leaders also discussed the situation of the Filipinos in the UAE,

01:28The Philippines and Malaysia emphasized cooperation and assistance,

01:32especially in the sector of education and disaster response.

01:38with the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Rural and Regional Development,
