26 October - National weather forecast presented by Luke Miall
Transcript
00:00Hello. Autumn is very much with us across the U.K. through this week, turning a lot
00:04more unsettled over the next few days. But through the rest of today, quite cloudy skies
00:09out there through much of the afternoon. And we have got some rain affecting a large part
00:14of Scotland. But for this time of year, it is exceptionally mild. And that's all because
00:19the air is coming up from the southwest. We're in the warm sector, so some higher temperatures
00:23over the next few days. But then our focus returns to this rain, this weather front stationary
00:29across the northwest, bringing some persistent rain. Now, we've had some heavy rain across
00:33western Scotland through the morning, and we're continuing to see further wet weather
00:37pushing its way in through the afternoon. Elsewhere, a lot of cloud in the sky, a few
00:40breaks here and there, but very mild highs of 17 degrees through this afternoon. Quite
00:46a strong wind coming up from the southwest as well, so it will feel quite gusty around
00:50some of our western and southern coasts. And that will continue through the next few days.
00:54But through tonight, we've got the wet weather pushing its way down, getting into Northern
00:58Ireland, eventually Northern England through the early hours of Wednesday morning. Then
01:01it comes to rest, and I'll talk about that in just a second. To the north of it, a few
01:05showers, some clear spells. To the south of it, a lot of cloud, staying quite windy. These
01:10are the temperatures we should be seeing by daytime at this stage in October. Now, let's
01:15pick up on that rain, because through Wednesday morning, it turns more persistent for parts
01:19of Northern Ireland, but especially southwest Scotland and Cumbria. So we have a weather
01:23warning in place here. We could see a large amount of rain building up through the course
01:27of Wednesday and into Thursday, the risk of some flooding and some pretty tricky travelling
01:32conditions. One or two showers coming in across western Scotland. Elsewhere, quite cloudy
01:36skies again through Wednesday. One or two breaks in that cloud, a little bit of drizzle
01:40across our western hills and coasts. Highs of 18 degrees though, that's 64 Fahrenheit.
01:45Very, very mild for this stage of the year. Now, let's look into Wednesday evening because
01:51we will see this wet weather just gradually trickling a little further southwards into
01:55north Wales and perhaps the northwest Midlands as we go into Thursday. But again, not moving
02:00very quickly. Quite strong winds on this as well. So we will continue to see some disruptive
02:05rainfall at times. Staying cloudy elsewhere, a few clear spells and again, very mild. And
02:11as we look our way into the rest of the week, it turns more unsettled. The leaves will be
02:15coming down. We'll see the risk of further puddles and some surface water at times. And
02:19then it turns a bit cooler and fresher as we look our way in towards the weekend. More
02:23information, of course, always available on our social media channels. I'll see you later.
02:27Bye bye.
