20 November - National weather forecast
Transcript
00:00Hello. So November has been very mild to date, but a major change is underway as colder air is plunging south across all areas behind a band of rain.
00:11The change is brought about by high pressure to the west of the UK and that high pressure has allowed winds to actually veer around to a northerly as that colder air mass has sunk south.
00:22It's a bit of a cloudy, gloomy day across many parts of England and Wales today.
00:27Further north, that band of cloud and rain associated with that cold front is starting to sink south, reaching northern England by mid-afternoon.
00:36Still fairly mild across the south with temperatures into double figures with highs of 12 or 13.
00:42A little bit chillier further north as that colder air starts to dig in.
00:47During the course of this afternoon and evening, that band of cloud and rain continuing to edge south across parts of England, although breaking up and becoming increasingly fragmented,
00:57following on behind some clear spells developing.
01:00A much colder night for all areas with temperatures into low or mid-single figures and perhaps a touch of frost in the very far north of Scotland.
01:10So a nice bright day tomorrow, although some blustery showers starting to affect northeast coastal areas during the course of the morning
01:19and some of those showers moving further inland during the course of the afternoon.
01:24So a much chillier day tomorrow with temperatures into single figures, although these temperatures are just slightly below the average for late November.
01:33And looking at the outlook period, so remaining cold over the coming few days with an increasing risk of frost for many long sunny spells, especially away from those North Sea coastal areas.
