00:00Hello. Welcome to your weather for
00:02the week ahead from the Met Office.
00:04If you like blue skies and like
00:05sunshine, you're going to enjoy
00:07the next few days.
00:08Start with a cautionary note,
00:09though, just because it's not
00:11spectacularly hot doesn't mean
00:12the sun isn't strong.
00:14UV levels will be high this week.
00:16You will need the sunscreen on
00:18because, yes, plenty of sunshine
00:19on offer for the next few days.
00:21And by day, it will be just
00:23getting a little bit warmer as
00:24well. The nights will still be on
00:26the cool side.
00:27When will it change?
00:28How long is the sunshine going to
00:29last? Well, it looks like until
00:32probably around about Friday.
00:33That's when we're most likely to
00:34start to see some changes with
00:36more cloud around.
00:37And certainly it looks a bit
00:38cooler as we go into the weekend.
00:41But before we get there, it's this
00:43large area of high pressure
00:45controlling things.
00:46Weather fronts out in the Atlantic
00:47trying to make inroads,
00:49but generally failing.
00:51As the ice bars just squeeze
00:52together a little bit, there will
00:53be a bit of a brisk breeze at
00:55times through the English Channel
00:57and across Western Scotland,
00:59particularly through the Western
01:00Isles. But for most places, Tuesday
01:01is a cracking day.
01:03If you like blue sky, lots of
01:04it on offer.
01:05Some cloud will bubble up through
01:07the day, but generally it is sunny
01:09spells and actually feeling
01:10a bit warmer by the afternoon.
01:12Tuesday sees temperatures widely
01:14up to the high teens.
01:15One or two spots getting into the
01:17lower 20s.
01:18So, yes, a touch warmer on Tuesday.
01:20The warmest day, probably most
01:22widely, will be on Wednesday.
01:24I fancy when we're more likely to
01:25see temperatures in the highlands
01:27of Scotland getting up to 23, maybe
01:2824 Celsius.
01:29Always a bit cooler around some
01:31coasts. It really does depend
01:33on the wind direction, the position
01:35of the high. But again, it looks
01:36like it'll be fairly breezy across
01:38Devon, Cornwall, Western parts
01:40of Northern Ireland and the Western
01:41Isles of Scotland.
01:42Elsewhere, the winds will be fairly
01:43light, could get some sea breezes
01:45developing and there will be some
01:47cloud again bubbling up inland.
01:49But for most, it is another
01:51fine day on Wednesday with plenty
01:52of sunshine.
01:54We start to notice that high just
01:56slipping to the north by the time we
01:57get to Thursday and notice
01:59again those isobars is getting
02:00closer together, more of an easterly
02:02breeze coming in by Thursday,
02:05which will be most noticeable, I
02:06suspect, across East Anglia and the
02:08southeast. So it will be turning a
02:09bit cooler here by then.
02:11Again, some cloud will bubble up
02:13through the day and again
02:15temperatures across the northwest
02:17probably peaking in the low 20s.
02:19But elsewhere, just maybe a touch
02:21cooler on Thursday with
02:22that cooler feel, particularly
02:24across East Anglia and the southeast.
02:25Temperatures not as high here and
02:27generally we're back to the
02:29high teens.
02:30But again, as I said, the highlands
02:31could get into the low 20s.
02:33Now, that area of high pressure is
02:35slowly slipping further away by
02:37Friday and low pressure is
02:39just getting closer and closer.
02:40Quite a few isobars across the
02:42charts on Friday.
02:43And then we're looking at weather
02:44systems coming in from the east.
02:46Now, when weather's coming in from
02:48the east, there's always a bit more
02:49uncertainty than usual.
02:50It's not a typical direction,
02:52but that change to more of an
02:54easterly flow means
02:56certainly this could be turning
02:57cooler through Friday and
02:59the weekend. Temperatures won't be
03:00anything like as high and there
03:02will be more cloud around with an
03:03increasing chance of seeing some
03:05showers. The details of where
03:07we see the rain showers
03:09still uncertain at this stage.
03:10So make sure you stay up to date.
03:12But certainly for the next few days,
03:14some sunshine, some strong sunshine
03:16on the cards.
