00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met
00:04Office. It's turning colder across the whole of the UK through the next 12
00:08hours. The winds are coming in from the north, you can see them streaming down
00:12from the Arctic. We've seen some very windy weather today but the winds will
00:16ease but we'll see a succession of weather fronts just skirting Scotland,
00:19clipping Northern Ireland, the far north of England as we head through Friday and
00:24also into Saturday. Some heavy policies can't be ruled out on Saturday towards
00:28the west there. Further south after some night frost you'll see some fine weather
00:32with some sunshine and a respite for most places before more rain
00:36arrives later on Sunday and into Monday. For the time being this nagging and
00:41strong wind continues. We've seen some high rainfall totals across the
00:45northeast of England but look at this, the rain is now declining, it's pushing
00:49southwards turning a bit more showery. Some showery bursts can't be ruled out
00:53across more southern areas and showers just peppering the coastline of Scotland
00:57as well as Northern Ireland. Now they could penetrate further inland through
01:00the early hours of tomorrow morning with some snow over the tops of the
01:04mountains. Inland across Scotland, Northern Ireland, the far north of
01:07England, a touch of frost is possible, certainly a grass frost as we enter the
01:10day on Thursday. For many it's bright as we head into Thursday morning, still that
01:17legacy of cloud and showery rain continues across southern counties of
01:20England and Wales and notice these showers will continue across most coasts
01:24through the morning and into the afternoon but some lovely sunshine
01:28coming through. Now through the day these showers could just drift across
01:32Scotland but there'll be the exception rather than the rule and we could see a
01:36few just developing further south as well but not the intense rain or showers
01:41we've seen through the beginning to the middle part of the week. Temperatures
01:44then through Thursday afternoon coming in around 10 degrees Celsius towards the
01:50north, 13 in the south so wherever you are it's going to feel colder than the
01:54beginning of the week but notice the winds are shifting around towards the
01:57northwest through the latter part of Thursday, still strong though across
02:01Shetland as well as Orkney. Now through Thursday evening and overnight this
02:05feature here brings with it showery bursts of rain, could actually turn heavy across the
02:09west there, more showery rain also for Shetland, clearer skies further south
02:13across England and Wales into Friday morning and watch out for a touch of
02:17frost first thing as we head through Friday with some brighter skies
02:20throughout the day and temperatures yet again around 11 to 13 degrees Celsius.
02:25Here's your outlook through Saturday, now again we'll see a feature across
02:28Scotland bringing some showers to Northern Ireland but some heavier
02:32pulses across Western Scotland, few showers filtering down towards Northern
02:35England, brighter skies further south after a bit of a frosty start and as I
02:39said a quieter day on Sunday before the cloud will thicken from the west.
02:43Temperatures recovering a little bit as well, 12 to 14 or 15 degrees Celsius
02:48wherever you are, take care, I'll see you again soon.
