00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning which will
00:03be wet for many, dry and bright for a few. Let me take you through a few details.
00:08Well the air is cold. This local area of low pressure will track across the
00:13country towards the east through the day taking with it some showery bursts of
00:17rain. Showers will follow but then as high pressure extends from the southwest
00:22that shower activity will be dampened down as we head through to Thursday.
00:26First thing then this morning you can see where the rain is. Some heavier
00:30pulses can't be ruled out. Central southern England up towards northern
00:33England the Midlands. Showers following across Wales as well as the West Country.
00:37Some wet weather for northern England and across the northern Pennines as well
00:41as southern uplands expect some hill snow. We have seen a little bit of hill
00:45snow overnight across Northern Ireland. You're now in a showery regime here.
00:48Further north that rain will bump into the central belt of Scotland before
00:52pivoting and extending towards eastern counties but before that though a
00:56bright start for northern and northeastern areas of Scotland. Watch out
00:59for a frost and those showers continue through the morning across Shetland,
01:03Orkney as well as the Hebrides. Now through the morning many areas seeing
01:07that wet weather away from that north and northeastern quarter of Scotland. The
01:12rain as I said could be intense at times but it's a fairly narrow band and
01:16extending quite quickly eastwards. Through the afternoon then showers will
01:20follow with a strong wind for Northern Ireland and that wind extends down
01:24towards Irish Sea coast. The rain at this point will just nudge into Aberdeenshire
01:28but remaining dry across the Moray Firth, Caithness as well as the Northwest
01:32Highlands. Showers continue towards the west of Scotland and are scattering as
01:36showers also for Shetland. Now these showers could be heavy at times with the
01:40risk of thunder and those showers following that band of rain through the
01:44afternoon and into evening time across central and eastern areas. So a bit of a
01:49cold day with that wind. Temperatures six or seven, eight across Scotland
01:53perhaps a ten towards more central and southern parts of England and Wales. Now
01:59through this evening and overnight that showery rain continues to clear
02:03eastwards. Still some lurking around though and certainly down towards Wales
02:07in the West Country we will see a few showers running in here as well as
02:10northern and western areas of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Quite a brisk
02:14breeze here continues and also along this east coast where that showery rain
02:18will continue along that eastern side. But inland a clear night and into
02:25Thursday morning expect a frost particularly in the north but
02:28temperatures dipping down quite low in the south as well. At least though through
02:32Thursday it's a fine day for most with some sunshine. Still that keen breeze
02:36keeping things cold along this eastern side of England and showers continue to
02:41affect the far north and northwest of Scotland. One or two running down also
02:46towards Northern Ireland but a drier day here and certainly broken cloud
02:50elsewhere as temperatures arrive around nine or ten degrees Celsius. Into Friday
02:56morning yet again the chance of a frost even some fog patches through the first
03:00part of the day. But notice for most it's dry, it's bright with some lovely
03:05sunshine. One or two showers just affecting Shetland and later on the
03:09cloud will thicken across the western side of Scotland as the wind picks up
03:13some strength. Temperatures then around eight or nine ten degrees Celsius and if
03:18you look to the skies over the next few nights under clearer skies you may see
03:22an alignment of seven planets. Take a look and I'll see you again soon.
