00:00It's been 5 years and 4 months since the Samsung Galaxy S9 was officially launched,
00:07so of course it is time to re-review it, it is time to make an updated review on this
00:12phone to find out if it's still worth it all this time later.
00:16As always we're going to start by talking a little bit about the exterior design, which
00:21as you can see is one of the strong points on this phone and well in general in all Galaxy
00:27S phones.
00:28It's made out of aluminum and glass with very simple but elegant lines and an unbeatable
00:34feeling in your hand.
00:35If you've ever tried or had one of the latest Galaxy S phones, you know what I'm talking
00:40about.
00:41They're very aesthetic, they have good materials, and they are very, very ergonomic.
00:45As for the processor, we have the Snapdragon 845, which was the best processor you could
00:51put on an Android phone 5 years ago, and therefore of course it is an absolute killing machine.
00:58And whatever task you throw at it, applications work super well, stable and fast, the system
01:04moves fluidly and without any irregularities or performance drops, and you can play all
01:09the games you want, although maybe not at maximum settings, because let's remember,
01:14this processor is over 4 years old.
01:17Overall, I think you're going to be very happy, it has a very decent performance, and because
01:22it's been around for a couple years, it is also very well optimized, so it won't be one
01:27of those glitchy and unpredictable Android phones we unfortunately see very often.
01:33But hey, let's move on to another very good feature and quite acclaimed on the S9, which
01:39is the battery life.
01:41But first, something that's even more important than the battery life on the S9 is the price.
01:48Right now the Galaxy S9 has a very, very good price on Amazon.
01:52I left a direct link in the description just in case if at the end of the video you pull
01:57the trigger, you want to buy it, check the price it has right now on Amazon, because
02:02just, just, just, just, just do it.
02:09But anyways, back to the battery, as I said, it has a very good battery life.
02:13It gives you around 7 hours of normal use to be precise, which is around as much as
02:18you would get on a normal phone from 2023, which is very impressive, because back in
02:24the day, phones didn't really have that good of a battery life.
02:27So yes, although it is not the best in the world, you are going to be very happy with
02:32its battery life performance.
02:34The best feature though, the most impressive component on this phone is definitely the
02:40display, because my friends, it has an OLED panel with 1100 nits of brightness and the
02:47highest end panel available at the time, which are specs well ahead of their time.
02:53Remember, this phone came out in 2018 and it had 1100 nits of brightness on an OLED
02:59panel that was over 1080p.
03:02That is absolutely insane.
03:04And let me emphasize on the panel quality, because a lot of people, when they buy phones,
03:08they focus on the resolution, on the size, which sure are very important factors, but
03:14the most important feature on a display is definitely the panel quality.
03:19That affects the viewing angle, the colors, the contrast, the calibration.
03:24You want a very good panel on your phone, and that's what top tier Samsung phones and
03:28top tier iPhones have that most of the other phones don't have even nowadays.
03:33If you buy a cheap Xiaomi, sure, it's going to have impressive specs on paper, but it
03:38will have a worst panel quality than the Galaxy S9 from 2019.
03:43But anyways, that being said, let's move on to the most important part of this review,
03:47which is the camera review.
03:50As you can see, I'm recording right now with the rear camera, the main sensor at 4K 30
03:54FPS, and I'm fairly impressed with the results.
03:58It looks very sharp.
03:59There's very decent dynamic range, and there's, well, not as much depth as what you would
04:04find on modern cameras because it is a small sensor.
04:07But anyways, let's check the pictures.
04:09I'm going to show you a bunch of pictures with some nice background music, zooming in
04:12so you can get off me fly, please.
04:15We're in summertime, so there's a lot of flies.
04:17I'm going to show you the pictures, nice background music, zooming in so you can see the details,
04:21and then I'll come back to give you my conclusions and talk about the selfie camera.
06:16Okay, what did you think?
06:20Very decent results.
06:21Of course, it's not, as I said, cinematic as a modern camera because it has a way smaller
06:26sensor, but in terms of sharpness, detail, color, it is very good.
06:31It is very, very good.
06:32And as you can see, that also applies to the selfie camera that I'm using to record this
06:37video right now.
06:38Both of these cameras are way better than the ones you'll find on similarly priced low-end
06:43phones from 2021 or 2022 or 2023, which is what most people buy for some reason.
06:51I've had those phones.
06:52I've had the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.
06:53I've had the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12, the Galaxy A13, and they have way worse cameras.
06:59People keep buying those phones, I guess, because they have more.
07:01They have a lot of cameras, which are all terrible, but they have a lot of them.
07:04People buy those phones.
07:05Buy this.
07:06Buy a Galaxy S9.
07:08It is the same price.
07:09It has way better cameras and, as we've seen before, a lot of other better components.
07:14Very good cameras for the price, especially for the price.
07:17So yeah, adding up all of these points, the build quality, the processor, the display,
07:22the battery life, the cameras, and an unbeatable price on Amazon, remember, links in the description,
07:29I think that it is very worth it to buy a Galaxy S9.
07:32I personally would prefer to get this phone over a cheap Xiaomi phone.
07:38That is at least my personal preference because it feels a lot better.
07:42It has better cameras.
07:43It probably has a slightly better processor too, so sure, it's not going to have fancy
07:48features like high refresh rate or fast charging, all those things that most modern phones have,
07:56but where it matters, it is way better than those other phones.
07:59So I would get a S9 if I had that budget, and that's what I think you should do too.
