00:05to participate in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
00:12Kenneth Faciente is live in the center of the news.
00:19Angelic, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has traveled to Laos PDR
00:24to participate in the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
00:31A while ago, the President left the Villamor Air Base
00:34to go to Laos PDR for the so-called summit that will last until Friday.
00:39In his return, the President emphasized that this activity will be a platform
00:43for the Philippines to address some regional and international issues
00:47that are of common concern to ASEAN members.
00:50It is expected that the President or the entire Executive will push the country's interest there,
00:55especially since he has been involved in 16 meetings with various leaders of ASEAN member states.
01:02Here, Angelic, it is expected that the President will highlight his advocacy,
01:06especially in the digital economy, support for MSMEs,
01:10renewable energy, and advocacy for the effects of climate change.
01:17The ASEAN leaders will explore how we can promote regional connectivity
01:21amongst ASEAN member states, as well as to strengthen our resilience
01:26to promote sustainable development and inclusive growth.
01:30I will also be participating in meetings with ASEAN's external partners.
01:35These engagements pave the way to advance cooperation in areas such as food and energy security,
01:42trade and investment, supply chain resilience, MSMEs,
01:47and addressing the impacts of climate change, and more.
01:52Also, Angelic, on the President's schedule is a visit to the Filipino community there.
02:00In addition, the President assured that the government will address the situation of the Filipinos
02:04who are affected by the chaos in Lebanon and Israel.
02:07He will continue to coordinate with the Philippine government
02:10to ensure that these Filipinos can return home safely here in the country.
02:14He was also pleased to report that there are no Filipinos in the Philippines.
02:18In the month of October, the DMW and OA will be bringing home at least 162 distressed OFWs from Israel.
02:29Once they return to the Philippines, the DMW and OA are ready to provide assistance to them.
02:36To our fellow Filipinos in Lebanon and Israel,
02:40our government is ready to meet your needs.
02:46We hope that you will avail yourselves of our repatriation program while flights are available.
02:54Executive Angelic was also saddened by the arrest of a Filipino in Saudi
02:59after he was pardoned from the death penalty.
03:02He assured that the government will provide all the needs of the Filipino family in the week.
03:10Of course, our thoughts and prayers are with them.
03:15There is nothing that one can do to make it whole, but we will do our best.
03:26What legal assistance?
03:27I'm sorry?
03:28What legal assistance?
03:29We'll see what they need.
03:32But for someone who dies abroad, an OFW, we have many procedures for that,
03:40to bring them back home, so I don't think that will be a problem.
03:45In the meantime, Executive Angelic was also encouraged by President Marcos Jr.
03:49to assist in bringing the sovereignty of the Philippines to its territory,
03:54in accordance with international law.
04:00As we continue to grapple with sharpening regional tensions,
04:03including the recent dangerous incidents in the West Philippine Sea,
04:08I intend to champion our advocacies in promoting an open, inclusive and rules-based international order,
04:16and for the peaceful resolution of any disputes in accordance with international law.
04:22This administration will continue to ensure that our constructive and deepening engagements with ASEAN,
04:30our dialogue partners and stakeholders serve our national interests.
04:38Angelic, while the President is not here in the Philippines,
04:42he was taken care of by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin,
04:47Justice Secretary Crispin Remulia, and Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella.
04:53Here's the latest, back to you, Angelic.
04:56Yes, Kenneth.
04:57Were there any countries or leaders that the President can still talk to outside the ASEAN?
05:09On the sideline, Angelic, of this ASEAN Summit,
05:13there is a high possibility that President Marcos Jr. will have bilateral meetings
05:18where he will discuss the things that will benefit the Philippines.
05:23Angelic.
05:24All right. Thank you very much, Kenneth Paciente.
