00:00The 2024 Runryo Manila Marathon was a success

00:04where thousands of runners from different countries participated in the event.

00:08Here's Bernadette Tinoy's report.

00:13More than 8,000 individuals participated in the 2024 Runryo Manila Marathon

00:18which was able to show the beauty of different cities in Metro Manila.

00:23Even though it was rainy season,

00:25it was not a hindrance to runners from different categories

00:30such as 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km run.

00:35According to Rio de la Cruz's main organizer of the event,

00:39Department of Tourism,

00:41more than 30 countries participated in the Manila Marathon.

00:46We achieved our goal of showing our tourist spots in Metro Manila,

00:52particularly in Manila City.

00:54We passed Jones Bridge,

00:56the new Intramuros-Binondo Bridge,

00:58and inside Intramuros,

01:00we passed Zero Kilometer,

01:02which is very significant,

01:04and Ross Boulevard.

01:06We want this to be long-term,

01:08like a representation of the Philippines

01:10that we have a Manila Marathon.

01:12Hoping that this will last,

01:14even though Runryo is no longer here,

01:16our legacy will live on in this Manila Marathon.

01:20Another well-known athlete

01:22who participated in the Marathon

01:24is the triathlon star and SEA Games gold medalist,

01:26Nico Velgas.

01:28He has a huge benefit in running

01:30for the well-being of an individual.

01:32He is also happy with the result of the full marathon.

01:34A lot of people participated,

01:36so we can see that

01:38we encouraged a lot of runners

01:40to enter the sport.

01:42So we were encouraged to promote

01:44a healthy lifestyle.
