00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is exasperated with the way past due rehabilitation of Marawi City from the ruins of the 2017 siege.
00:08He bewailed the extended period of being on the mend and directed the reinstatement of water and power in the city above all.
00:16As we hear more from our Kenneth Paciente.
00:20President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the office of the Presidential Advisor for Marawi Rehabilitation or OPAMR
00:28to further intensify efforts for the reconstruction of Marawi City.
00:32During a sectoral meeting at the palace, the president specifically wants concerned agency to focus on the primary needs.
00:38This includes electricity, water and housing in the city, which was heavily damaged due to the attack by the Mauti group in 2017,
00:46wherein he emphasized that water supply in the area is crucial even if the electricity supply is limited.
00:52The OPAMR explained that there was a delay in the implementation of the bulk water supply project by the Local Water Utilities Administration or LWUA due to legal issues.
01:03This is now being addressed by the government and the LWUA has promised to complete the project before the end of the year.
01:10The president also ordered OPAMR to negotiate with the private landowners in Marawi to extend the contracts for using their land for housing residents affected by the Marawi siege.
01:20These contracts spearheaded by the previous administration have already been expired.
01:25The agreement in the contract allowed the use of private land for five years, while permanent homes for residents were being built.
01:31A legislator welcomed this directive from the president.
01:34According to Congressman Zia Alonto Adyong, this directive from the president will pave the way to address the longstanding demands of the people of Marawi.
01:42He said this will speed up the recovery not only of Marawi, but also the livelihood and dignity of its people.
01:48The chief executive also directed the Department of Energy or DOE to inform the concerned agencies about the pending energy projects.
01:55This is to speed up the permitting processes.
01:58He also instructed the DOE to accelerate the integration of the application and permitting processes for all their projects under the Energy Virtual One-Stop Shop or EVOS to streamline or expedite the energy project application process.
02:11According to the PCO, 56 energy-related processes out of 103 have already been integrated into EVOS since the project was rolled out in 2020.
02:21Kenneth Paciente, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
