00:00It is the rundown Thursday, September 26, and it is brought to you by our great friends
00:08at Proper Wild.
00:09Let me tell you, Clem, let me tell you, Chief, Proper Wild is delicious energy shots and
00:14energy gummies that deliver for the perfect boost whenever you need to wake up and stay
00:19fun.
00:20There's no weird ingredients in Proper Wild, just good, clean caffeine.
00:25The best-selling flavors that they have are peach, mango, strawberry, kiwi, and blackberry.
00:30What is it, you ask?
00:31Glad you asked.
00:32Four to six hours of energy, five times more caffeine than a shot of espresso.
00:36Let me tell you how you can get it.
00:38You go to properwild.com, and you can use code WILD for 30% off.
00:43That is properwild.com, code WILD for 30% off your order.
00:50Let me tell you about Proper Wild, guys.
00:52It was at the Pizza Fest.
00:53Wifey and I were a little tired, obviously.
00:54We were old.
00:55We had a long day ahead of us.
00:57Proper Wild booth is there.
00:58We got our strawberry kiwi, took it down, delicious, and then we had the energy the
01:02rest of the day.
01:03It is approved by the Clem family right there, approved.
01:08Get them on the snack, boys.
01:09Yeah, there we go.
01:10I'm on my Cal Ripken shit right now, hosting the rundown three straight days.
01:17I feel like the warehouse should be dropping the next number down.
01:21But yeah, we'll be back to normal on the rundown next week, just a lot of stuff going on that
01:27if you know, you know.
01:28If you don't know, you'll eventually figure it out.
01:31So you got me, you got Barstool Chief, and you got Clem Dog.
01:36Number one topic, we had to have Chief on to talk politics.
01:41Our mayor, the beloved mayor of New York City, he was indicted last night, Eric Adams, which
01:48made for a pretty fun night on Twitter.
01:50We get one of these nights every six months or so, where just all the old videos and memes
01:55come out.
01:56I don't really know.
01:58He took some money from Turkey for election.
02:00Who cares?
02:01Like, I don't think any of us actually care about that.
02:03It's just funny to dunk on mayors.
02:05Lori Lightfoot, Dante's legacy is introducing the world to Lori Lightfoot, because I don't
02:11know about everybody else.
02:12I don't pay much attention to mayors, like I don't care.
02:15But when I see her goofy ass face, I just crack up all the time.
02:21Last night we had the Eric Adams, the best thing about living in New York City is you
02:24can wake up and have a 9-11 outside your window.
02:27He has that other video where he goes, he goes, you might think this is just a baby
02:33doll.
02:34And he like rips it open.
02:35He's like, but there's a crack pipe inside.
02:38He's a shitty mayor.
02:39The city has gone to hell, but he's hilarious.
02:42What do you got on Eric Adams indictment, Chief?
02:45I'm going to miss him.
02:46I'm going to miss him.
02:47Shout out to Dante, who was on this blog as well.
02:51And you think of Dante, you think Lori Lightfoot.
02:54That's special privileges, because I feel like probably only four to 5% of his blogs
02:57on Lori Lightfoot actually saw the light of day.
03:02I would be in negotiations on text with him, be like, if you can do this for me, I will
03:09grant you one Lori Lightfoot paragraph.
03:15But it was like there were videos coming out last night that I had never seen that
03:20were incredible.
03:21I love the one where he would just compare in New York, like Dublin's like New York's
03:26like the Dublin of Ireland, New York's like the Barcelona of Spain, New York's like the
03:31Rome of Italy.
03:32It's like, dude, what do you what does this mean?
03:34No, he's like mankind going into every arena across the country.
03:37And it's great to be here in Boca Raton, Florida for the cheap pop.
03:41That was Eric Adams.
03:43No substance.
03:44Say the name of the city.
03:46He's incredible.
03:47And obviously the classic one with, you know, check your child's room.
03:53If you look in their in their jewelry box, you might find a gun.
04:00That to me, I saw it for the first time, I think in a year or so since I came out, still
04:04had tears in my eyes last night around 10 o'clock watching that.
04:07So I will miss him.
04:10He is full denial mode right now that all the allegations are false, which is a pretty
04:15good indication that, you know, that they're true.
04:18So we'll see the Turkish thing, whatever Dante is linking him to Diddy as they would do.
04:24Two guys arrested around the same time must be linked.
04:28Credit to me.
04:29I kept that part in the blog, even though it had nothing to do with anything.
04:32I was like, I just got to let Dante cook sometime if he wants to draw a comparison from Eric
04:38Adams to Diddy.
04:39Let's have at it.
04:40He's Dante is beating me down that it's just like he won, he won.
04:46I thought they would just give him full publishing rights at this point.
04:51We won't have an internet company.
04:54Clem, what do you have?
04:57Yeah.
04:58I mean, speaking of just the politics in general, my new or it's kind of always been my like
05:02strategy, but I tuned it up in the last year.
05:05You would hubs you guys are the editor in chief.
05:06You guys can deal with all the politics blocks.
05:08It's like this has to be blogged in some sense, which is like the even the thing that
05:12Dante has been harping on, where he based the mayor said he essentially like invented
05:16garbage bales or dumpsters instead of just throwing garbage on the street, which again
05:20is like ludicrous when you see it in New York with known for its rats.
05:24But he also said rats run this city like that's like a quote from him.
05:28It's like, dude, dude, I could talk about this forever, chief.
05:32I don't know if, you know, we don't have so we don't have like alleys where like you guys
05:38brother.
05:39I know.
05:40I know.
05:41You know that.
05:42But we also don't have garbage cans on the street.
05:43So businesses, restaurants, they just put their bags of garbage on the sidewalk so you
05:46can't walk down the sidewalks.
05:48And that's where the rats feast.
05:50What they could do is just put in huge garbage bins that you can put your bag in.
05:54It would help kill the rat population, but they won't do it because they want street
05:58parking instead.
06:00It's a whole big thing that drives me insane.
06:02So then Eric Adams just goes, yeah, the rats run this city.
06:05And that's when I was asked this guy.
06:07I was like, no, the rat.
06:08He has the rat vote.
06:09Yeah.
06:10Yeah.
06:11Which I mean, you get the rat vote in New York.
06:13You are.
06:14You're set for life, which takes a billion votes.
06:17Yes.
06:18The guy, he replaced de Blasio, which I mean, all time great onion headline.
06:22So I'd said de Blasio, Colin, well, well, well, not so easy to find a mayor that doesn't
06:26suck shit.
06:27Huh?
06:28Like just like de Blasio was such a punching bag.
06:30And I know I think a lot of even some of his stuff came out when we were trying to to like
06:34pump the brakes on the politics.
06:35And then at some point, we're like, no, we just have to keep going in on this guy because
06:38he was an absolute buffoon.
06:40We followed up.
06:41This guy made it, what, a couple of years.
06:42And I feel like he went through like three police commissioners in like a year, like
06:47the school board.
06:48There's people getting arrested every single.
06:49It's like real life Gotham City where it's like everyone is the most corrupt people on
06:53the planet.
06:54It's like watching a Batman movie in real life.
06:55So good luck to the next person.
06:57I can't wait to see how they fight this.
06:58And Eric Adams, we were talking about in the office today.
07:01There was a time when every post on my for you page was someone new with a cell phone
07:05video like Eric Adams sitting first class, flying to Ibiza, flying to Miami, flying to
07:10wherever.
07:11We're always just taking kickbacks from every city in the world, not hiding it at all.
07:16Turkish Airlines, baby.
07:18It's like, where are you going, man?
07:19Like there's also an article or it's a show called Curved or a series.
07:25I don't know what it is.
07:26We're like, does Eric Adams really live in New York City?
07:28And they they kind of stalked his house and he was there like twice ever.
07:32He doesn't even live here.
07:33So I think there's something you have to be hilarious and corrupt to be a mayor like D.C.
07:39Mayor, famous Marion Barry, Mayor, smoked crack, went to federal prison, reelected mayor.
07:46You just have to be the fucking man and an insane human being or woman, Laurie, to be
07:52a mayor.
07:53Well, that was.
07:54Rest in peace.
07:55Absolute electric factory.
07:56Right.
07:57He was mayor.
07:58We had.
07:59Oh, what was his name?
08:01The guy right before Laurie.
08:03Everybody hated this guy.
08:05Sir.
08:06Whatever.
08:07No.
08:08Who's that guy?
08:09See him everywhere.
08:10Oh, the name will will.
08:12Oh, Rahm Emanuel, who is like Ari Gold's brother in real real life version of that.
08:18And everybody hated him, like left town.
08:21Very low ratings.
08:23We got like some kind of motorcycle going on.
08:25I don't know if you guys can hear that behind me.
08:27But.
08:29We did smoke out the big country music festival during covid.
08:32They brought him up on stage, standing ovation.
08:36So it's like everyone is worse than the one before.
08:39Now.
08:40Now we're like, man, was Laurie that bad?
08:41It was kind of covid.
08:42Now we got Brandon Johnson.
08:43It's like everything just gets worse and worse.
08:46It makes me wish that Portnoy had won that Boston election back in like 2013, because
08:53what we would have gotten out of that, we thought we thought Eric Adam was electric,
08:56but I'm in Portnoy as a mayor of Boston would have been incredible.
08:59I don't want to get too political.
09:01I do find it funny that the Democrats are like, you must resign.
09:05It's like, have your boys back.
09:07Like on the other side for five, he, you know, gets every felony, whatever.
09:13They're like, yeah, that's our guy.
09:15We stand behind him.
09:17The mayor takes a couple of dollars from Turkey.
09:20Everybody's calling for his resignation.
09:21Like, come on.
09:22Like we can, we can do worse than Eric.
09:24I blame Eric Adams for not being more corrupt.
09:27I hope more stuff comes out.
09:28If you're only taking a hundred K from Turkey, that's light work.
09:31That's a Tuesday for anybody else.
09:33He's like a tier five country to be taken a bribes from, right?
09:37Like give me some fucking like Switzerland or some shit.
09:41Dante's on Dante's on the case.
09:43I'm sure more stuff will come out.
09:45He did give P Diddy the key to the city last summer.
09:47So that was tough.
09:49That was tough.
09:50I'll say Ellen had a tweet that was being retweeted around, which called it Diddy.
09:54Like her, like snuggle off, I guess, or something.
09:57My entire Tik Tok is just like old stories of P Diddy.
10:00We're like, Oh, that's problematic.
10:03Yeah.
10:04It's pretty sad.
10:05It's not great.
10:06Not good.
10:07A topic to speaking of Dave, Dave says he will pay up to $3 million in NIL a year to
10:14get Michigan a quarterback every single year.
10:20As much as I want to hate on it and call it, you know, like loser mentality, not loser
10:26mentality, but it's like, you know, $3 million just so your college can have a quarterback.
10:31If I had the money, I would do it to Maryland would be a powerhouse.
10:35If you have fuck you money.
10:37Why not?
10:38You got to spend it somewhere.
10:39Why not?
10:40Just every single year, get the best quarterback out of the transfer portal.
10:44So I can't really hate on him for saying that.
10:46Now, if he does it, we'll see.
10:48He's insane.
10:49He'll play me heads up poker for the last 15 years now.
10:51He hasn't done that.
10:52So he does do a lot of talking without a lot of backing it up, but maybe those should be
10:56the new stakes.
10:57If you win, he has to give $3 million for a Maryland quarterback or a Maryland quarterback.
11:02Yeah.
11:03I mean, our best quarterback in the last 20 years is to his brother, Tully.
11:08So we could, we could use somebody here.
11:11What do you got on this chief?
11:13Big poor Michigan.
11:16As a Notre Dame fan, I can tell you that just getting transfer portal quarterbacks doesn't
11:21work.
11:22Sam Hartman, very handsome, good hair, sucked.
11:26Riley Leonard, he's, he's Tim Tebow.
11:29Like that's, I'm convinced he's just like a reincarnated Tim Tebow because he, all he
11:33can do is run.
11:34And if you ask him to throw a five yard out, he can't do it.
11:37So I think you're better off finding an 18 year old quarterback, keeping that guy happy
11:41as you develop them and then let him play as a junior.
11:44Pay the backup 2 million a year until he's ready.
11:46That should be the Portnoy strategy.
11:47I don't want to tell him how to do his business.
11:49He's done pretty well for himself, but if it were me, these one and done transfer quarterbacks,
11:54I am out on that process and I don't really like Michigan.
11:59So Dave, have at it.
12:00You can have Riley Leonard right now if you want him.
12:04I love this stuff.
12:06Just as someone that doesn't really have a horse in the, that doesn't really have a horse
12:09in the race for a, as a college football fan, I kind of just, you know, watch or whatever.
12:13I just want to know, like, how come Dave is the first person?
12:16I mean, I'm sure there might've been a few others.
12:18It should be open season.
12:19Every billionaire, whoever's the richest person in Notre Dame should be like, yeah, we're
12:22going to fix this stuff.
12:23We'll get a better quarterback.
12:24I think they did.
12:25I think they did.
12:26Apparently they didn't, Chief.
12:27They just did a bad job.
12:28Why is Arch Manning not wearing the fucking golden helmet right now?
12:30Give me a fucking real quarterback.
12:33I'm wondering about this as well.
12:34If I'm a billionaire, like legitimately, can I go to Arch Manning and write him a $30 million
12:40check?
12:41I mean, look at the salary cap on the NIL stuff.
12:44Like there's so much, so many people at all these universities that have so much money.
12:51Aren't they going to have to implement some sort of like guideline standard salary cap?
12:56Something so a Bezos doesn't invent Bezos university and just pay, you know, $200 million
13:03a year to these players, to these student athletes.
13:06Get, get, uh, Deion Sanders as a coach, it's prime and Amazon and all those things all
13:11wrapped up into one university.
13:13Yeah.
13:14I don't know.
13:15I it's, I gotta say I I'm out on this.
13:18I think I'm kind of getting to the point where I'm out on college football.
13:21Good.
13:22You fucking, you know, I'll get angry.
13:24I get it.
13:25You guys, you college football fans, you killed my biggies back in the day.
13:28It wasn't me.
13:29You guys, I would have given you guys Penn state and then you could have had a real football
13:32league and we could have had our original big 10 and maybe everything would be different,
13:37but not to be too political.
13:39All these schools still being a nonprofit tax exempt with their $80 billion endowments
13:45and these college football contracts are worth billions of dollars is ridiculous.
13:49So yeah, spend that money, give it to the kids and then maybe you have to actually break
13:53even even on your books.
13:55As the only parent on this panel here, I have to say I've been hoping since my first child
14:00was born that college would either not mean what it meant.
14:03Like you need to get it to get a job or it would somehow become like free.
14:07If somehow college football's money goes into making college cheap or at least cheaper
14:13because I have, I'm on the clock now.
14:14I have like eight years until I got my first one going in.
14:17So I need this shit to happen soon.
14:18So if this can get me there, God bless.
14:20If not, I can't wait to see if like Dave brings a quarterback in just as you know, the guy's
14:24working for Barstool.
14:25It's content city.
14:26Well wait, how's AJ's arm?
14:27How's he?
14:28How's he throwing the ball these days?
14:29He went to one of those little pitching things where you have to like get it in the zone
14:33and he was fucking rifling it in.
14:35And that's lefty too.
14:37So it's like, we might have something here, boys.
14:40We might be cooking.
14:41You gotta do the thing.
14:42Who was it?
14:43I always forget his name.
14:45His dad tied his right arm behind his back his entire life to make him be a lefty.
14:49You got to get on that Clem.
14:52The old USC quarterback went to the Raiders.
14:54What was his name?
14:55What is his name?
14:56There's people yelling at the screen right now who know it.
14:59Probably not.
15:00Our audience is younger.
15:01That was like 1988.
15:02Clemmer's yelling at the screen right now.
15:04That Clemmer is.
15:05Yeah.
15:06Todd Marinovich.
15:07Todd Marinovich.
15:08I almost said Keith Markovich.
15:09I was like, that's not it.
15:10Definitely not it.
15:11Derek Rose, Chicago kid.
15:12He retired.
15:13Sad.
15:14He was still actually playing at a decently good enough level, but he retired, took a
15:15full page out, out, add out in the Cleveland paper, despite only playing 16 games there.
15:16That's not really the story.
15:17Story is every, you know, Twitter account with a blue checkmark is tweeting out that
15:18he's retired.
15:19He's retired.
15:20He's retired.
15:21He's retired.
15:22He's retired.
15:23He's retired.
15:24He's retired.
15:25He's retired.
15:26He's retired.
15:27He's retired.
15:28He's retired.
15:29He's retired.
15:30He's retired.
15:31Every, you know, Twitter account with a blue checkmark is tweeting his highlights saying
15:35how good could he have been had he not gotten hurt.
15:38He was an MVP at what, 23 years old or whatever.
15:41One of the sickest just players that we saw in his prime.
15:45Chief, you are our Chicago liaison.
15:49You want to give a little obituary to Derek Rose's career?
15:52Well, the Bulls kind of did.
15:54They posted this Rose rising through the concrete, which I think was the hat to the commercial.
15:59That was the first thing I saw.
16:00I'm like, did Derrick Rose die?
16:02It looked, it was like, and then.
16:03Accounts love playing it fast and loose with those, like someone with an injured pinky
16:08and maybe a lower carrier.
16:11Just your run of the mill retirement for a guy who was in the league for 15 years.
16:15But that's the thing.
16:16Like he wrote, he wrote, you know, took an ad out in Cleveland.
16:19That was Derrick Rose.
16:21We had D Rose.
16:22It's a complete, like he had two different careers.
16:25Derrick Rose was like a below the rim, veteran, savvy guy who had some really nice nights
16:31with the Timberwolves in Memphis and not so much with Cleveland.
16:34Our guy, D Rose, from the streets, one of our own.
16:38That stretch, I put it in a blog this morning.
16:40From like 2007 until 2016, I think that's as good as where we're going to get in Chicago.
16:45We got four championships, we had NBA MVP, and it's like we sold our soul to get that
16:50Cubs World Series in 16.
16:52Because after that, everything has been complete shit across the board, all five teams.
16:59That was right as I was coming out of college, when Rose was blowing up.
17:04Every night you had a reason to go to the bar between Derrick Rose and the Blackhawks.
17:08It was the best and he was must-watch TV and everybody was on board.
17:14And it is one of those things, because he got hurt right as Jimmy Butler was coming
17:18into the team.
17:20I do think there would have been a moment where they had Rose, Noah, Butler, Boozer
17:24all kind of rolling at the same time.
17:27They would have been able to beat the Heat at least once in that run and we just didn't
17:32get there.
17:33So it's unfortunate, but those three years with him from 08 to 11, absolutely incredible.
17:40And it means a little bit more because he was from the West Side.
17:43So great player, love D Rose, nothing but fond memories.
17:47And I think, you know, he's seemed like he went through some hard times and kind of like
17:50found himself.
17:51So maybe that's why he wrote the letter to Cleveland.
17:53I'll tell you what, I went to a Knicks game when he was on the Knicks a couple years ago
17:58and it was a blowout.
17:59Knicks were blowing them out.
18:01Place was chanting his name from like five minutes down, just wanted to see him get in
18:06the game.
18:07It was like, he's that kind of player and has that, I hate this word, aura about him
18:11where it's like, you just want to see Derrick Rose on a basketball court.
18:15He got in, place went crazy, it was a stone cold Steve Austin level pop for him.
18:20And it was cool.
18:21It was like, cool to see Derrick Rose, you know, play basketball in front of your eyes
18:25on the court.
18:26And yeah, we saw like three minutes of him on the Knicks.
18:30Wasn't anything special, but it was cool to see him play.
18:33Yeah.
18:34And he was like, we were watching him since he was 15 at Simeon High School, winning state
18:37championships because, you know, they broadcast those games.
18:39Like everybody knew about him from the time he was like a little kid.
18:43And then he probably exceeded what anybody thought he was going to do.
18:47And then it was gone.
18:48And he still played 11 more seasons after for his ACL.
18:55He never got back to, you know, MVP level.
18:58He averaged 16, 18, 16, 18, and then a huge drop off for like three years.
19:04Then he got back up to 18 for a couple of seasons.
19:08It's not like he sucked sucked.
19:09No.
19:10And then after his ACL, it's just like he never got back to like the quickness, the
19:15athleticism.
19:16The explosion.
19:17He did have a night with the Timberwolves where he put he I think he had like 52 points
19:22in a game like two years ago.
19:23So he did find a way to like reinvent himself and credit to him because he was just dunking
19:29on people's heads in Chicago.
19:31That's all.
19:32He was just like, I'm going to blow by you and dunk on a seven footer.
19:34And I remember when they had Coach Cal on like local Chicago radio heading into that
19:41draft and there was a discussion like, do you take Rose or Beasley?
19:44And it was like a little bit of a debate.
19:47And Coach Cal was like, hey, everyone stop.
19:49His chin touches the rim like he gets up like he is the most explosive, most like this.
19:56You would have to be a moron not to take him.
19:58And they got him and and just didn't work out.
20:03It's a crazy career, too, because like you said, he had those that MVP year in those
20:06early Bulls days.
20:07I covered him, I think when I first started at Barstool, when he first came to the Knicks,
20:12when I think we were called the super team, which was like an LL fucking Knicks moment
20:16was like us in the Warriors were the only two super teams.
20:19And I think he like disappeared at some point.
20:21He was going through a lot of shit, like you said.
20:23But then when he came back at the end, like you said, Nate, it was like that covid season
20:27and he was basically our second best player was like, you know, an old Derek Rose, absolutely
20:31beloved by the Garden Faithful.
20:33And I like when he retired, I was like, shit, like every year is like, let's just give Rose
20:37Derek Rose like one more year, like let's give him one last run here in New York.
20:40So sad to see.
20:41But again, as you know, the three people on this rundown right now, three people that
20:45actually still still do blog on BarstoolSports.com.
20:49I appreciate his appreciation of the written word.
20:51Who the fuck is even like how many percent of the NBA of the players do you think actually
20:56know their local papers?
20:58Like 40 percent.
21:00I'm looking at that.
21:01So it's the New York Times.
21:02He gave.
21:03So he went to each city.
21:04So the fact he did the Cleveland playing dealer is funny because he played like 16 games there.
21:08But he did the Tribune for Chicago Tribune.
21:11The New York Times.
21:12Like he better shout it out to us.
21:13New York Times Commercial Appeal, which I guess is Utah, Detroit Free Press and Minneapolis
21:18Star Tribune.
21:20Like God just respects the print industry.
21:22That's how you know Derek Rose is old.
21:23He knows his local papers and even thought to do that right there.
21:27So I appreciate it.
21:28And full color ads.
21:29Those aren't cheap.
21:30I mean, they're probably cheap.
21:31I will give them away now, but I will say TLDR that too long didn't read that full page.
21:39I'm like, brother, like you said, probably five words publicly when you were here.
21:44I'm not reading your whole swan song, Matt.
21:47You can bleep this or Tom.
21:50You can bleep this.
21:51What's the website that all the players retire in now?
21:54They do these like sappy Tribune.
21:57Yeah.
21:58Yeah.
21:59The Derek Teeter thing.
22:00Is that still going?
22:01I don't know.
22:02Yeah.
22:03That replaced local print.
22:04And I'm glad that Derek Rose went back to to local papers.
22:10Topic number three, still presented by Proper Wild.
22:13Five times the energy is a shot of espresso A's last game in Oakland.
22:19Every clip is funny.
22:22The fans holding up the chairs, the groundskeepers scooping dirt into water bottles as the game's
22:28going on.
22:29The employee tweeted out his QR code for the employee discount.
22:34The manager, the manager, the owner is just an all time piece of shit where also we were
22:39talking about this today.
22:40Frank was informing us.
22:42They still don't really have a deal in Vegas because Vegas wants the team, but not the
22:47owner.
22:48And they're kind of like a joint package at this point.
22:49So the A's are still playing in Sacramento for the next at least three years.
22:54They haven't broken ground on a stadium yet in Vegas.
22:58The A's owner.
22:59I don't blame Vegas.
23:00Like why would you've seen what he's done in Oakland?
23:04Kind of feel like you don't want this guy coming to Vegas and also just bringing this
23:07shitty ownership with him.
23:10But you also want a baseball team for the tourism, all that stuff.
23:14But it's kind of sad.
23:16You know, Oakland been around.
23:18A's have been around forever from Philly, then to Oakland, the yellow and green jerseys
23:23and the elephant.
23:24They're kind of like a staple.
23:25I don't think people realize how good they were like dynasty level back in the day because
23:30they're kind of an afterthought of a franchise now.
23:33But yeah, it's always sentimental when a team is just done in a city.
23:39It's sad.
23:40So, yeah.
23:41Chief, what do you have on the Oakland A's?
23:42It is sad.
23:43And you were talking about Bezos, isn't there some Silicon Valley guy who could have bought
23:48that team and moved them to San Jose, at least keep them in that area sort of.
23:52But I think it's just old boys club and ownership in baseball, where even though Fisher's like
23:58a cheap asshole, they're like, that's our guy.
24:00He's part of the club.
24:01So probably some slippery slope where Reinsdorf probably loves this guy.
24:06Exactly.
24:07And so it took them forever to get Dan Snyder out.
24:09You know, the Panthers owner barely went out, even though he had all that terrible shit
24:15about him.
24:16So it's apparently really tough to get rid of an owner, even though the which I don't
24:21get in a way, because anybody else who owned the team, they would make a competitive team
24:27spend more money, which raises everybody's franchise value.
24:31I just think it's like, well, if they get him out, I could be next.
24:36You know, it's like maybe all these people have skeletons, all these people have probably
24:41reasons that they shouldn't own a team.
24:43So they all just keep their heads in the sand and they say, no, we're all set.
24:47Plus, if you're a good owner, you always want a guy worse than you.
24:51It's like at Barstool, you always want someone who's doing a little less work than you're
24:55doing.
24:56So you'd be like, well, at least I'm not that guy.
24:58So I think that's why they keep him around.
25:00I don't even know if that works at this company, to be honest.
25:03What do you mean?
25:05Sometimes just doing less work makes you a star.
25:07Or just staying off the radar.
25:08Yeah.
25:09It makes you a star.
25:10If you're, you know, if you get in, like, mince your thoughts, chief, go on.
25:15No, no, no, no, no, that's fine.
25:17I do feel like there is a little bit of that where it's, you can, if you're good for like
25:23four or five massive fuck ups that are funny a year, you're, you're employed for life,
25:28which is fine.
25:29I would love to take advantage of that someday.
25:30Are you talking about White Sox, Dave?
25:33No, no, not White Sox, Dave.
25:36But I will say, I thought the juxtaposition of Eddie, he went to the White Sox game alone
25:41last night, trying to see, you know, the worst team of all time, because that's, his brain
25:48is so weird.
25:49A month ago, he and Dave flew out for 12 hours to see A's White Sox, you know, one of the
25:55final home stands for the A's, just to see that park and what a piece of shit it is.
26:00So it is, and now it's over, and now it's, I feel like the White Sox are the last standing.
26:05The other thing about this whole A's move to Vegas, take it with a grain of salt, but
26:10we have the Blutman brothers doing social media in the Chicago office who are from Vegas.
26:16They swear nobody in Vegas wants any sort of baseball team.
26:21They don't want a baseball team.
26:23No one really cares about the Raiders there.
26:25He said that they, everybody embraced the Knights because that felt like a real, like
26:29this is ours, they're the first one, but nobody wants the other teams.
26:33So for whatever, so who knows what kind of fan base they'll even have there.
26:37That's what I'm praying for.
26:38I'm praying for that to happen, and it's nothing against the A's, it's like, I'm just so sick
26:42of this fucking baseball shit.
26:44So you have John Fisher, absolute scumbag, right, as an owner.
26:47This whole thing with Rowdy Tellez, where Nutting, you know, they DFA him for plate
26:52appearances, Shive is $200,000 bonus.
26:55You have the fucking Mets and Braves are about, you know, they're waiting to wait out a hurricane
26:59to play games, and I'm telling you, they're just, they want the Mets and Braves to play
27:02on Monday because it's basically a bonus playoff game or series and probably get ended
27:05in Mets misery, which always fucking works.
27:07And then you have the fucking White Sox who are about to become the worst team ever, right?
27:11So it's like, baseball's so fucking broke, so fucking broke because all that are there,
27:16like I know Nate's not a Cohen guy, but Cohen wants to spend, they want to put a tax on
27:20a guy to spend, but they need this guy, Fisher, who refuses to spend and just completely butt
27:24fucked a legitimate, great fucking franchise historically.
27:28And it's just, it's a fucking, baseball's a joke, man, from top to bottom, so.
27:31I hope, I hope, I hope, I feel like there's even a chance Sacramento was starting to bail.
27:35I'm like, oh yes.
27:36Like, I want this team without a fucking home at this point.
27:39Like, they just had to play 162 on the road.
27:42Or like, they just moved to Iowa and they play in that Field of Dreams stadium with
27:45the corn and everything and play like in front of 8,000 people every week.
27:49I do think every league does need this type of team though.
27:53Arizona in the NHL, they've been playing at Arizona State's facilities for, what,
27:59the last few seasons?
28:01I went to a game out there a couple years ago.
28:04It's bad.
28:06That was, it's insane that the league, and they couldn't sell it out.
28:10It was like a 4,000 seat stadium.
28:12They didn't sell it out.
28:14It was insane that the league let that happen for as long as it did.
28:19Because it was-
28:19Arizona, every other day, there would be a new, Glendale's kicking them out.
28:24They're trying to build a new arena.
28:26Nobody wants this new arena.
28:28They signed a new contract for a new arena.
28:30They ripped up that contract for the new arena.
28:32They're at Arizona State now playing in front of 2,400 people a night as an NHL franchise.
28:39Like, it's crazy.
28:40And now they're in Utah, which is also just, I don't, I-
28:44I think it'll work in Utah.
28:45You can be a sports fan who pays attention, reads Barstool, is on Twitter, watches ESPN.
28:52You still might not realize there's a professional hockey team in Utah now.
28:56It's just kind of bizarre and weird.
28:59And they didn't come up with a name in time.
29:00Said they're just Utah.
29:01They're the hockey club.
29:03Yeah.
29:04Jesus Christ.
29:05The other crazy thing is that Oakland had three professional sports teams, like,
29:10five years ago.
29:11And now they have none.
29:12And I know the Warriors just moved across the bay.
29:14But I feel like Oakland and San Francisco don't exactly love each other as cities.
29:18And then the other two get yanked to Vegas.
29:19Like, that is so fucked to the people of Oakland.
29:21And again, I'm sure Oakland isn't like a city burning with money.
29:25But like, you can't tell me there's a couple of Silicon Valley dudes who grow up as-
29:28as fans that would have just, you know, taken care of business and made it fucking awesome.
29:32John Fisher grew up in the Bay Area.
29:35But he was always like, he was a Giants fan, I guess, growing up.
29:38And then he just-
29:38No!
29:40Oh, that's even more fucked up.
29:41Yeah.
29:42Guess what?
29:43The fourth team will be an NBA team in Vegas sooner than later.
29:47It's been, you know, we'll get a Greeny blog about that three times a year.
29:51LeBron wants to move a team to Vegas.
29:53I mean, those teams are very successful.
29:57The Knights and the Raiders are very-
29:59I know-
30:00And Vegas, I think people only think of the strict tourism, whatever.
30:04Vegas is a large city with-
30:06Like 2 million people or something like that.
30:08Who live there.
30:08Yeah.
30:08Yeah.
30:09Like, Henderson is a massive suburb, you know?
30:11Like, there's a lot of just normal people who commute to their normal nine to fives.
30:15And it makes no sense to me either, but they exist.
30:19And what's funny about T-Mobile Arena, you know, where you would go to see the Knights,
30:24if you're just like a mom and dad, you know, with a couple kids in the suburbs of Vegas,
30:28you want to go to a game, you can't like drive in for the game.
30:31There's no parking on the Strip.
30:33So it's actually very difficult, which I think is good for opposing teams' fans.
30:39Like, seeing a game when you're standing at a hotel on the Strip is such a great experience.
30:44You just drink, walk over to the game, walk out, you're back on the Strip.
30:48If you live in Vegas, though, maybe that's what the Blutmans were saying,
30:50it's probably not as fun at all.
30:53That makes sense.
30:55But no, bidet baseball in Vegas and in domed, you know, 30,000-person stadium?
31:00Sign me up.
31:00That sounds great.
31:02Fuck yeah.
31:03And then finally, oh no, that was everything.
31:08Aftershow, the beloved Indiana Fever lost first round of the playoffs.
31:13Dave did a video being sad about it.
31:15And then I wrote down that the White Sox keep winning.
31:17They won't lose this last game.
31:19So Eddie's going back, I think.
31:21Eddie's going back tonight.
31:23They have to win three, four, three more?
31:26Four more?
31:26Something like that.
31:26I think they're sitting on 121 losses right now.
31:29And they have to have, like, the worst-
31:31They have to lose one more in the next four days.
31:34Oh, and Clem, that's what I wrote down.
31:37What's the deal with the weather in the Mets in the playoffs?
31:39I can't keep track of this.
31:41So basically, like, the Mets and the Braves had a three-game series from Tuesday to Thursday.
31:47And it was kind of like the Mets had-
31:50Whoever won the series basically was going to get a wild card.
31:53And if you didn't, it was between you and the Diamondbacks.
31:55And the Diamondbacks might be playing a Padres team that has nothing to play for
31:58that, you know, by the end of the weekend.
32:00So it was kind of like for one of the wild cards.
32:03And the entire fucking universe seemed to know that there was a hurricane
32:07right on its way there.
32:08And the weather was like 100% rain from basically Tuesday morning
32:13or Wednesday morning to Thursday night, Friday.
32:15Even Friday might get rained out when the Braves play the Royals.
32:18So everyone's like, they could have moved the games up.
32:19The Braves decided not to because they could either move it to a different ballpark.
32:23I think the Tigers moved their game up wherever they were because of the weather.
32:28So the fact that they didn't, everyone's just like, like baseball, why are you so stupid?
32:32So now there's a chance that it's all going to come down to Monday.
32:36And then the Mets and the Braves will have to play potentially a doubleheader to the
32:40CSI who gets in the playoffs and then go from that doubleheader to a wild card matchup for
32:44the next three games where you're just completely shot.
32:47There's no games today until Monday because of the rain.
32:51No, so Wednesday and Thursday, Wednesday and Thursday got postponed because of the rain.
32:57And then the Mets are going to Milwaukee.
32:59Oh, they have a series in between.
33:01Yes, there's a series in between.
33:02So the Mets play Milwaukee and the Braves play the Royals in Atlanta, which might still have
33:06be underwater on Friday because it's a fucking hurricane.
33:09Yes.
33:11It's just majorly baseball.
33:12Rob Manfred doing Rob Manfred things.
33:14How's Frank handling things?
33:16Oh, he's not.
33:17We've heard a lot of man frauds coming from the gambling cave.
33:20A lot of them, like record setting numbers of man frauds, worst commissioner in sports,
33:26et cetera, et cetera.
33:27And I get, I have the pleasure of streaming on much.
33:33So on Monday night, I won the draft Kings bet again, thousand dollar free bet again,
33:40two times in three weeks, which means I have to pick someone on Monday night football to
33:44score a touchdown for a thousand dollar free bet.
33:47The first Monday night football game on Monday is Titans, Dauphins.
33:54But now you're telling me the Mets might be playing the Braves for a chance to go to the
33:59playoffs at that exact same time.
34:01Oh, yeah.
34:02I didn't realize that.
34:03I don't, that would probably be game two at that point, depending on the, oh, wow.
34:07Wow.
34:07So it's definitely going to happen now.
34:09And I would like to offer a thousand dollar free bet to anybody who wants it.
34:14Oh God, this is going to suck.
34:16Are you going to come in for that?
34:18I'm going to try to get sicker by the time I go, actually.
34:21I'm going to just find someone who has COVID.
34:23So I know I have it.
34:23And then I mean, I guess you can't go with COVID these days.
34:27What I'm taking is taking Tyreek plus one 70 to score a touchdown because it's not often
34:32you can get Tyreek at plus one 70 to score a touchdown.
34:35This game might end up three zero.
34:38First field goal wins, win Titans, Dolphins.
34:41But I have to pick someone for a touchdown.
34:43You might as well just go for a super long shot because.
34:45Run back the defensive bet, Nate.
34:48Jack McCarthy specifically told me I cannot take it.
34:52Oh, because I mean, yeah, Levis.
34:54And I mean, I mean, Scholar Thompson being healthy would be the best thing for you,
34:57but I don't think that's going to happen.
34:59But I mean, whoever the fuck's replacing him can't be much better.
35:01Snoop Huntley, right?
35:03For pro bowlers, Snoop Huntley.
35:05Yes, correct.
35:06Sorry, but for proper respect on his name.
35:08So, yeah, I have I have Tyreek plus one 70.
35:13And then there's 20 of us left in the Barstool.
35:16I think it started with like 100 people.
35:17Barstool wide.
35:19It's a survivor pool.
35:20You have to pick someone to score a touchdown every week.
35:2320 of us left.
35:24I've yet to decide who I am taking for this week.
35:27Chief, are you in?
35:28No, I picked a Bears guy the first week and then.
35:32That doomed me, so I had to get to the following week.
35:35Of course, I didn't get it.
35:36So I am the more time the older I get, I'm realizing I am just I am the dumb piece of
35:43shit.
35:44And it took me a while to realize how dumb I am.
35:46But always believing in these different teams is.
35:50I've come to that realization.
35:51I feel bad for Bears fans because Jaden was so good on Monday night.
35:56It's not your like you guys didn't do anything wrong.
35:58You took the best quarterback.
36:00Everybody, everybody thought he was best quarterback.
36:02And then Jaden just goes out.
36:04It just has a generational Monday night football performance.
36:07And now you guys are getting the brunt end of that for no reason other than you took
36:12Caleb one.
36:13Like it's a two headed monster between that and Justin Fields is three.
36:17You know, it's it's it is tough.
36:20And we went to the game in Indy.
36:22Shout out Portillo's.
36:25And within like six minutes, it was like, here we go again.
36:29Like it was good.
36:30You knew we were in for a long, painful day.
36:33Now, I do think Caleb's going to come good.
36:35Caleb's good, but that they're going to have to fire the coach.
36:38You guys fucked yourselves, though.
36:40You set expectations moderately above bad.
36:45You got you.
36:46There was a lot of Bears media saying, hey, it was to make Caleb probably have good press
36:51clip.
36:51Hey, you're coming into a good bear team.
36:53Best situation for a quarterback, et cetera, et cetera.
36:56You can't do that.
36:57Like you have to set expectations very, very, very low.
37:01And now I'm seeing all the people saying, well, Jaden has a good offensive line in front
37:06of him.
37:06I'm like, we have a terrible offense, but it has to be better than ours.
37:12Has to be better.
37:13I'll tell you what.
37:13Jaden Cliff Kingsbury is working miracles with him.
37:17He's working like getting rid of the ball in under three seconds on every snap.
37:22And plus he runs a four four.
37:24So it's like he's he's he's our goal.
37:27He's a freak.
37:28I am actually I think of the Jets, the Browns, Washington.
37:35We're all kind of it's almost like Clem, like your old sons of Uribe with White Sox, Dave.
37:40We're all in this misery club together.
37:43And you guys got the coordinator right.
37:47We hired Shane Waldron and stuck.
37:50Why Matt Eberflus, who has the worst record?
37:53I think he's now he's in year three.
37:56He's 11 and 28.
37:59Over three years, franchise quarterback and not get a new head coach with him.
38:03That's what's crazy to me.
38:05How did they not do that?
38:06And like that was the report from Schefter was like they spent 48 hours deliberating
38:11about what to do with Eberflus.
38:13And should they go after Harbaugh or anyone else?
38:16And I have a suspicion that the McCaskies, the owners were like, we don't want to have
38:21to pay two guys at the same time because they're already paying the defensive coordinator that
38:26got had the scandal last year.
38:28He had to be fired.
38:29So they had to hire a new defensive coordinator.
38:31And then they had the awful offensive coordinator.
38:34I already forget his name.
38:35He landed.
38:36He's with the Raiders now.
38:37So they have a second.
38:39Gets it, gets it.
38:40Yeah.
38:42Can you remind me?
38:42It was like the defensive, defensive coordinator.
38:46But then like somehow like Peanut Tillman got involved.
38:48And like that was all fake.
38:49So that was also Peanut Tillman is in the FBI.
38:53That is real.
38:53And that's real.
38:55Like he has post football.
38:57He works for the FBI.
38:58He's a Fed.
39:00So there was a report that the FBI raided Hallis Hall, but that was not true.
39:12I did find out what happened.
39:13I don't know if I'm allowed to say.
39:15But basically the defensive coordinator was not being a good boy and was being extorted.
39:23And there is some compromising videos of him.
39:28So they, he had to go away to spend more time with his family.
39:34They sent him to the bar.
39:35Yes, yes.
39:37But no FBI was not involved.
39:40I wonder if Dante's deleted that tweet yet.
39:43Does he delete tweets?
39:48He's a wild card.
39:49He's a wild card.
39:51Uh, yes.
39:52But Derek Rose, you know, Bears, Hawks, Bulls, White Sox, we're just sad.
39:58We're just a sad, we're sad group out here.
40:02Yeah, I won my cup.
40:03So I'm happy for life, whatever else at 42 goals away from Gretzky's record.
40:07That'll be fun too.
40:08Yeah, that'll be good.
40:10What do you have Clem?
40:10You have Malik neighbors.
40:11That's exciting.
40:12You have the neighbors is awesome.
40:13They play tonight against the Cowboys.
40:15Like tonight is the perfect storm where it's like giants fans can say, well, we beat the
40:19Browns pretty handily and could have beat the Washington if we had a field goal kicker.
40:25Um, so you can talk yourself into two on one.
40:27Dallas has kind of looked like shit.
40:29So, but usually Dallas plus in prime time usually ends in absolute horror.
40:34So I have no expectations, but like he said, like anytime I come back to it.
40:39And again, as a Mets and Knicks fan, I have plenty of reasons to complain as a football
40:42fan, nothing will ever top super bowl 42.
40:45And I liked the Patriots.
40:47It was like, I hated the Patriots, but an undefeated team, best coach, best quarterback.
40:50And my team went out with a big goofy quarterback and won the game.
40:53Like I can never complain.
40:54It's especially we hear this shit that, you know, the Knicks probably.
41:00Very well could have taken the Celtics at least to seven.
41:04If, uh, Julius Randall is healthy.
41:06So a healthy Knicks team this year could be dangerous too.
41:09So yeah, I'm picking them the window to be the one seat in the East this year.
41:12I think they're going to, Tim's is going to try to win every fucking game.
41:15We're hurt, but everyone else is going to be hurt too.
41:17So it's like, who gives a shit?
41:19I trust the crazy person that'll probably like burn us out by the time the playoff start,
41:23but burn out athletes on their retirement day.
41:27No, no, he's coming back boys.
41:31I'll tell you right now.
41:32He's going to in the papers.
41:33He'd be like, I'm so excited to rejoin the NBA.
41:35Tim's is going to ask me to play 20.
41:37That was the thing we signed him.
41:38Like, Oh, we'll get a couple of minutes out of Derek Rose.
41:40And he was playing like 30 minutes in those playoffs.
41:41You're like, you're going to kill this guy.
41:43It would be crazy if he just did the, like in February, did the Jordan.
41:47Yeah.
41:47The Jordan press release.
41:49I'm back.
41:49And it's with the Knicks.
41:51He could, he would probably right now.
41:53He'd probably be the best player in the Bulls.
41:55Oh God.
41:57Legit.
41:57That's how bad the Bulls are.
41:59He traded Lori away.
42:01Yeah.
42:02No, I guess they got, I guess, I mean, Kobe white, whatever, but this, that, that team
42:06sucks too.
42:07Everything, everything sucks.
42:09Did he just give Patrick Williams like a hundred million dollars?
42:11Probably.
42:12He's never done anything.
42:13He was just, we drafted a local kid who with a Lithuanian name, who I can't pronounce and
42:21won't learn probably ever, but he is from like Naperville or something.
42:25So we got that going for us, which is nice.
42:27He was Steven Chase sleeper.
42:31Oh, he was a sleeper back when he was in New York.
42:34Back in the day, you know, Steven did have Sam Howell as his number one pick.
42:38So he has a good track record.
42:40Yeah.
