00:00Computer Science videos here today to show you guys in this tutorial how to
00:05use version control to access the previous work on a Mac computer. Without
00:11further ado let us start the video. So in this tutorial you need to have access to
00:16a Mac computer, any work that you have been working on. For the purpose of this
00:22tutorial we will be analyzing a PowerPoint presentation we have been
00:27working on as you can tell in the previous tutorials. The ideology behind
00:33this was to demonstrate to the user, the client, the customer how to use
00:37PowerPoint. So before we start the tutorial I have the definition of
00:43version control and what it really is. Let's just click on this and analyze. So
00:50in software engineering version control is a class of systems responsible for
00:57managing changes to any programs, documents, large websites or other
01:02collections of information and we know that version control is a component of
01:06software configuration management. In other terms version control can also be
01:12known as time travel, going back in time to access information that may have
01:18been available let's say 40 years or maybe 400 years and so that's why
01:24GitHub version control are very important when it comes to seeing the
01:29changes that have taken place. So now we can go all the way down to the doc, go to
01:35finder, navigate to the OneDrive folder, go to work.pptx, click on this, minimize
01:41finder for the moment and now let's go to the top of the PowerPoint presentation
01:46where it says work, last modified two minutes ago, click on this, go to browse
01:52history, very important and now what I will do is go all the way to the start
01:59of the time where I created the presentation which is on the 4th of July
02:062022. Today's date is the 28th of July so we are talking 24 days ago. Let's just
02:14click on open version and now if I wish to restore the presentation from 24
02:21days ago to two slides, let's click on restore. What does this do? Okay it brings
02:28back everything that was done on those days or that day. Is there a way to now
02:34go back to what it initially looks like after all the changes have been made? Yes
02:40there is. So if you're wondering you went all the way back, are we able to go back
02:46to what it is now? Yes we are. Let's go back to browse version history and we
02:55can go to open version, yeah and restore. So now we have brought back all the work
03:09that the presentation is on. So we can now quit PowerPoint and so that's it for
03:16this video. I'll see you guys on a tutorial. Thanks for now. Thank you for
03:22making it towards the end of the video. Be sure to subscribe to my channel
