With recent developments adding to Manchester’s skyline, and house prices on the increase, some are referring to Manchester as the London of the north.
With that in mind, we asked people on the street in MAnchester if they thought the developments were a good thing, and whether they would rather live in the north, or in London.

00:00Hi I'm Theo with Manchester World and I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking
00:04people about Manchester and the reason for that is due to the recent
00:07developments here some people have started calling this the London of the
00:10north so we want to know what the differences are between northerners and
00:13southerners whether people would rather live up north down south what they think
00:17the benefits are of each of them and really is Manchester the place to be
00:21everybody's so friendly I have enjoyed seeing the city grow over like the last
00:26few years you know because I've got all the cities in England it's certainly
00:29worthy of it it certainly deserves it but it's a big cultural history and like
00:33to take less focus away from London is certainly not a bad thing because it
00:37seems like all politics for the most part it's all focused on London all like
00:42the big money projects or whatever like I know there's a couple of things that
00:45co-op line got built here but it just seems like England revolves around
00:50London really so it's nice to move it away from there and like just give
00:55representations at other cities really so I'm a big fan of it personally and
00:58it's a it is small big town but it's easy to find everything that you need
01:05and what you see and I like that it's not so polished yes like it is definitely
01:13nicer here will say like I'll go go to London or walking around there's
01:18everyone's head down super fast walking whereas I'll go and get my morning
01:21breaks and I'll have like a conversation with whoever's there yeah
01:24there might because it's more student workers and even more inclined to have a
01:27conversation but I've noticed that a lot more coming up yeah a lot of things the
01:32pubs it's very nice pubs Manchester is such a soulful city and one of the
01:36things I have noticed is it is getting a little bit more sort of like corporate
01:39and industrial specifically in areas like Deansgate yeah and I would be
01:41really disappointed if they did anything to like areas like Northern Quarter or
01:44just like some of the other just slightly cooler areas of Manchester like
01:47just don't make it too polished but I mean I think developing it's good but I
01:50also slightly wonder if it's going in the right place like I think we should
01:53solve some problems before we just start building stuff like if you have the
01:56money to do it I think there's definitely a better use for that money
