Alleged victim speaks about abuse from Mohamed Al-Fayed
Harrods must take responsibility for the “monster” Mohamed Al Fayed, lawyers have said, as the late businessman was compared to Jimmy Savile and Harvey Weinstein over accusations of systematic rape and abuse at the department store.
Five women who worked as personal assistants or secretaries have described being raped by Al Fayed, with abuse allegedly occurring at Harrods, the businessman’s flat nearby, his homes in Paris and the south of France and during international business trips.

00:00We believe that the system not only enabled but potentially and allowed to a

00:16represent. We will say it plainly, Mohamed Al-Fayed was a monster.
00:23I was subjected to AIDS and STD testing without consent and now believe in
00:29hindsight I was checked for my purity. We would be sent to see Al-Fayed because he
00:36had a job for us to do. It was always more of a friendly chat than actual work
00:40but then these private meetings turned into more. A forced kiss, his hands
00:46gripping your face to his lips or pulling you down on his lap where his
00:50hands were free to explore any part of your body that he wished. These incidents
00:58lasted seconds but the fear instilled left me paralyzed. Al-Fayed brushed off
01:03these moments like they had never happened but I was always reminded not
01:08to mention them to anyone. He would know if I did. I had never experienced
01:14anything like it before. I was so young I didn't know what to do and how to deal
01:18with it. I felt such fear and some sick loyalty as his employee. He summoned me
01:26up to his private apartment on the pretext of a job review. I was escorted
01:32by one of his security guards who ushered me into his private sitting room.
01:36The door was locked behind me. Al-Fayed handed me a glass of champagne and told
01:42me to sit. Looking around I saw his bedroom door partially open. There were
01:48sex toys on view. I felt petrified. I perched myself at the very end of the
01:55sofa and then it came. Muhammad Al-Fayed, my boss, the person I worked for
02:02pushed himself onto me. I fell to the floor with him still on top of me but I
02:08managed to kick free and free myself. I ran towards the door. I told him I was
02:14meeting my father for dinner and he would be worried that I was late. He just
02:20laughed at me. He then composed himself and he told me in no uncertain terms
02:26that I was never to breathe a word of this to anyone. If I did I would never
02:32work in London again and he knew where my family lived.
