00:00The Manila International Airport Authority is preparing to turn over the operation of Ninoy Aquino International Airport
00:10to the private concessionaire of the new NIA Infrastructure Corporation.
00:16According to MIAA Spokesperson and Head Executive Assistant Attorney Chris Bendijo,
00:23Starting this Saturday, the operation and maintenance of the NIA will be managed by the private concessionaire.
00:30As part of the expected changes, the new terminals at Terminal 3 will have additional seating capacity
00:38in the waiting area of the pre-departure area, air conditioning, and generator sets.
00:45There will also be a proper running of escalators, elevators, and walk-a-lators.
00:51Another major investment is the upgrade of the passenger boarding bridges and visual docking system.
00:59There will also be an employment contract signing of people who will be transferred to the private concessionaire.
01:07MIAA promised that as a regulator, they will monitor if the plans of the private concessionaire will be carried out properly.
01:18The obligation of NNIC is to increase the current passenger capacity of our terminals.
01:26As to the design, at present, it's designed just for 30 million passengers per year, but we're hitting around 50 already.
01:33So in their KPI, they should increase it to 60, and the construction of the new terminal will be addressing this.
